Touched by an Angel

Rushing back to the exact bar from last night, thinking to myself I could drink myself to death.

“Bartender can I get a shot of whiskey” I shouted

“Hey Mia, is it” shouted the bartender before placing the shot of whiskey in front of me

“Do I know you?”

“I’m a friend of Emma. I was the guy who called to you the other night and the one who called Emma to come and pick you up.”

“Y-You’re the one who called her”, I whispered with tears dripping down my face.

“Yeah, you couldn’t go home drunk. Are you ok?”

“No, I’m not. I can’t take this anymore the grieve, the burden I didn’t mean it I said I was sorry, but it’s like I’m being tormented I know I killed Emma, and I’m truly sorry,” I shouted but was stunned after realizing what I had just said I immediately ran out the door leaving everything behind all I could hear was the sound of the bartender shouting my name. I dashed across the street, but due to my carelessness, I wasn’t able to make it to the other side. I was hit by a car, and all I could remember was the bartender shouting my name before completely passing out.

As open-minded as I was, I thought I would finally be at peace and maybe even see Emma just to tell her how sorry I am. Due to my current state, I didn’t notice I was able to listen to my surrounding behind all the commotion. I was startled by my sister shouting in my ears to wake up.

I shot open my eyes as I gasp for air to the understanding that I was lying on the floor of an unknown room. I hesitantly tried opening the white door ahead of me but was startled by a small tap on my shoulder. I rapidly turned to see a man dressed in white staring at me with a smile so wide I thought his mouth hurts.

“Welcome, Mia; my name is Apollo”, he stated, still smiling widely

“Where am I?”

“Unfortunately, you have passed.” with a sudden loss for words, I wasn't surprised. Also, I wasn't surprised as to where I was heading but with my sudden faith, I was determined to make things right.

“A-Are you here to tell me if I go to hell or heaven?”

“Well, no, follow me”, he stated, revealing what was behind the white door that leads us to a path covered in fog; before going any further, I tapped his shoulder, expressing a great deal of pain.

“Um, I know I just got here, but I’m looking for someone; her name is Emma; um, I was wondering if I could see her, please.”

“I know this is why you’re here, don’t worry, you’ll see her soon”, he replied, wiping the tears off my cheek, wrapping his arm around my shoulder, pointing me to a massive golden door.

“The moment you enter this room, you will be judged for the sins you have committed. Don’t be scared; be brave,” Apollo stated, pushing open the golden door to reveal a guy looking like a judge as he sat around his desk.

“Miss Mia, welcome. I can see you’ve already met Apollo,” said the judge

“Uh yes, I have”, I stuttered

“Well, do you know why you’re here?”

“Yes, it’s to decide if I go to heaven or hell”, he stated. At that moment, I knew exactly where I was heading but wanted to see my sister before going to hell.

“Ivery I know she didn’t go through life with flying colours, but there are other factors to consider”, shouted Apollo

“I think the evidence is quite overwhelming, Mia Walgreen. How do you plead” Ivery replied

“I plead by saying that I’m sorry. I know I’ve done a lot of bad things, which I’m not proud of and it’s been hard trying to process what I’ve done, and it’s also been difficult that I thought drinking would ease the pain, but it never did. I know you know I killed my sister just because of my stupidity, and I know I did a lot of wrong things, but I’m so sorry I’ve been trying to change my life, but I’ve done so many bad things that anything I do it never changes and this is what brings me here pleading for a change, I swear I truly am sorry.”

“You see, your honour, this must count for something”, stated Apollo.

“Your right, Apollo forgiveness does count, Mia Walgreen; you have two days and two days only to go back to a time in your life most critical however you use that time, it is up to you. No one will recognize you. You are a free agent in the universe with the blessing of God all mighty and his court” without one last word, the judge hit his gavel onto the desk, and once again, I blacked out.
