AVA
I've been very moody throughout today, so moody that I think Isabelle noticed.
I was just not in the mood for anything. I didn't even say a word to Melissa, but thanks to Isabelle I didn't have to deal with her much.
"Dinner is served!" Isabelle announced after returning from tucking Lissa into bed.
"Thank you so much Isabelle, you may leave" She just stood there. It looked like she was trying to make her mind up on what I'd said
"Ma, I'll like you to see me as not just your cook but, but I'm -, your friend too, if there's something bothering you, you can let me know." she pleaded with a sad smile.
Hello Miss, just leave her alone, Snapped a voice in my head
She stood there staring intently at me, a smile played on my lips.
"You're very kind, Belle." I acknowledged her, "But I'll like to be left alone for now," I said in a tone that held no room for arguments
She gave me a small nod and left while I walked to the dinning where a plate of spaghetti and meatballs was served.
Taking out my phone, I sent Tracy a quick text informing her of my new identity and asking her to put me in line for an interview with my dad's company manager the next day.
I retired to bed after picking out a not too sophisticated outfit for my disguise for the next day. The outfit consisted of a bright pink gown, a blazer and pair of flat shoes let's not leave out the transparent glasses that finalizes the look and could easily pass for a nerdy outfit,
-
Dressed in the outfit I picked last night, I was sitting in the dinning when Isabelle descended the stairs with a beautifully dressed Lissa.
"Mama!" she exclaimed, running towards me, I stood up to carry her in my arms.
"Good morning Lissa," I said, smiling at her.
Turning to face Isabelle I spoke again, "Good morning Belle."
Lissa chuckled, clapping her hands "Guu morning Belle!" she mimicked me, making Isabelle smile
"No Good morning for Mama?" I pouted.
Her expression softened, "Guu morning Mama." she said, snaking her small arms behind my neck, pulling me into a hug.
-
"Isabelle please take good care of Lissa, I beg you, she's never spent a day without me." I begged, standing beside my car.
"I will ma, you have nothing to worry about." she assured me. How many times do I have to tell her to not refer to me with that title?
Shaking off the thought, I stepped forward and planted a kiss on Lissa's cheek. I slid into my car, put the key in the ignition, and I sped off to the company. I was a few minutes away from the company when I decided to text Tracy. It was a short text informing her of my arrival so she won't break out of character.
The gates of the company were opened for me to drive in by the gate man who also directed me to where I'll pack my car.
Taking one final look at myself through the rear mirror, my hair was in a tight bun and the eyeglass was in place. Satisfied with my appearance, I stepped out with my bag and like I wanted, no one spared me a second look.
"Hello, I'm here for an interview that was scheduled for ten this morning." I blatantly lied to the receptionist
Silently praying Tracy had this all planned out, I do not want any mistakes that could crack my Identity.
"What's your name?" The receptionist asked politely with a blank look.
"Ava Randolph."
She gave me a once over and shook her head
"Is there a problem, Miss?"
"Not really, it's just that your name is the same as the daughter of our late CEO before she got married, but she's way beautiful."
She must have realized what she said because she immediately raised her face, giving me an apologetic look.
"I didn't mean it like that, forgive me, you're really beautiful it's just that-"
"I'm not offended" I interjected, reassuring her.
She sighed and continued looking up my name in her system. "Here" she said, handing over a card to me. "The manager will be with you in a few minutes," she informed me.
I collected the card from her and sat on the couch in the room.
I patiently waited for about thirty minutes, before my name was called by the receptionist who led me to the manager's office.
"I am Jayson, the manager of Forever Events with Randolph," the pot bellied middle aged man said, stating the obvious.
Carefully, I started the recorder on my phone, this interview was going to be beautifully fun. I held back the evil smile that threatened to climb onto my lips.
"Ava Randolph." I told him
"Has anybody told you, you bear the same name as the heiress of this company?"
I shook my head, "No Sir" I lied, even when I was just told a few moments ago, I won't even call it a lie... besides, I'm the heiress.
"That makes me the first then," he chuckled.
"Who is the heiress?" I inquired, thankfully he doesn't find me suspicious
"She's a shameless whore, who does nothing but fly around the country," he spat.
I was immediately annoyed, but if he noticed, it will ruin my plans so instead I just smiled
"I even slept with her on several occasions and she kept running back to me even when she was married."Why would he shatter my image as such to people?
Lies, lies, lies I wanted to shout.
"Really?" I asked, feigning disbelief
"That's not even all, ever since her father, the owner of this company died she hasn't been seen. So I'm doing my best to make the company go bankrupt so I could buy it, you know what I mean," he stupidly explained and winked at me.
I was currently boiling on the inside, but kept my cool as we just got to the interesting part.
"How do you intend to do that?" I inquired
"You really are a smart girl, aren't you? "
I gulped thinking my disguise had blown up in my face as he stood up from his chair, walking towards me before sitting on the desk.
Staring at me intently, he began "I've been saving up the companies money, they call it looting but I call it saving" I breathed a sigh of relief, my disguise was still uncovered
"Your coworkers, how do they feel about that? "
He laughed, "They love their job, so they keep 'em."
"You wonder why I'm telling you this right?" he asked, I just nod out of curiosity
"I really like you, let's call it love at first sight." He winked at me, leaning down, he planted a disgusting kiss on my cheek.
It's taking extra patience in me to not knee him right now.
"You know the interesting part of this?" he asked, I just shook my head as he returned to his seat.
Right now I was acting dumb, afraid to use my voice so I don't snap at him
"The interesting part of this is that I'm willing to share everything with you. Besides, I can tell you're unmarried, there's no ring there. I'm single as well, so why don't we just tango." He said flirtatiously with an awkward wink.
Is this how he flirts with job applicants? I asked myself, thinking of all the poor girls that must have fallen prey to his antics. I couldn't hold it in anymore so I let out a humourless laugh, he stared at me like I'd grown an extra head.
"Do you know what's even more interesting?" I asked.
"No, tell me, I want to hear it from your beautiful lips."
I allowed a smirk to spread over my 'beautiful lips, resting my back on the chair and crossing my legs.
"I am Ava Ryan Howard. Heiress to Forever Events with Randolph." I announced.
N/B: Forever Events with Randolph is the company's name.
What do you think she'll do with Jayson?
AVA"I am Ava Ryan Howard. Heiress to Forever Events with Randolph." I announced. The look on Mr. Jayson's face was priceless.I mean who would have expected the nerdy looking job applicant to be the sophisticated heiress of the company. I wouldn't even believe it if I were him but that's who I am, isn't it?It's take over time, I thought.Taking off my glasses, I dialed Tracy's number while removing the band that held my hair in a tight bun, allowing my black hair fall effortlessly on my shoulder while I watched Jayson cringe in his seat."Ava." Tracy's voice came up on the phone"Tracy, can you come to the manager's office with his letter of termination and all the account details from the company to his account within an hour?""Sure, I'll be on my way." She answered. I didn't miss the excitement
AVAI've been working restlessly in the company ever since I took responsibility. The part that annoys me the most is how close the former manager had been to wrecking this company. I have had to fix so much.If I hadn't intervened, my dad's sweat would have crumpled in the hands of one of his most trusted staff.Sitting in the office all day, my mind keeps going back to my daughter. These days I barely have time for her and it hurts me so much.I don't want to be the kind of mother that neglects her daughter because of her work. I want to be actively present in her life, I hate to admit it but I'm almost becoming a workaholic mother. I miss Lissa.Ever since she came into my life, I've never gone a whole day without her until I start
RYAN"Hey, Ry." The blonde I came home with last night called me.Why can't most of these ladies understand the meaning behind a one night stand? She was rubbing her hands on my chest, when I peeled them off in disgust.Ever since my divorce with that evil wretch, I have found it hard to feel anything for any woman. I'd go to strip clubs thrice every week and pay for the best among the girls to go home with me.I'm usually rough with them. There is a reason it's called having sex not making love. The reason behind it was to ease off pent up energy, no strings. I always make it clear to the girls before they come home with me. I don't want them developing useless, worthless, pointless feelings. My attention was brought back to the blonde beside me. She wasn't even that good and here she is acting all lovey-dovey around me. I hate it when they become clin
AVA It was Friday today, Isabelle was off duty today and was just about to leave Melissa and I. I planned on going shopping with Lissa as I noticed she has outgrown most of her clothes. It has been a while since when last we both went out to spend quality time. I don't even remember the last time I took her to the park, I've been so busy with work. We were in the sitting room, on a couch with her between my legs, watching some kids show as I tried tying her hair up in a bun. "Mama?" "Yes, Lissa, Mama's listening," I said, finally succeeding in tying her hair up in a loose bun. Smiling, she said, "Me want cake!" I smiled back at her, nodding my head, I understood why she craved it. I rarely baked anything but for her I'm willing to go back to my old self. I never got the chance t
AVA I've been finding it quite difficult to sleep at night especially this night. I guess my irregular sleep routine was gradually having an effect on me. Walking into the kitchen, I decided to make coffee and take it with the few cookies Isabelle left in a plate near the sink, when I saw a black bag in the sink. I can't remember putting any black bag in the sink, besides no bag was used during my baking session earlier today. I walked to the sink and tore the bag open to reveal packs of different kinds of contraceptives. My breath became heavy and my mind hazy. Whoever put it there must be aware of the reasons behind my broken marriage, this being one. The night my marriage with Ryan began to crumple. FLASHBACK THREE YEARS
AVAI woke up this morning with a malicious headache. You know the type that makes you feel as though you've been hit on the head and when you try to move your head, the pain is transferred to the other side of your head, making you shut your eyes and hold your head.Slowly, I searched for the aspirin in the first aid kit that I keep in one of the cupboards in the kitchen. After I had taken the medicine, I began making breakfast. I decided on eggs for Melissa and pancakes for Helena and I.Thinking of Helena, I really needed to keep my cool if she asks me about Melissa."Good morning, Ava" Helena greets me, moving towards the kitchen."How was your night?" I asked her, smiling."Better than ever, your bed was soft and comfy." She said, yawingSmiling at her, I nod my head and faced the food
AVA"How do I look in this?" Helena asked me for thehundredth time.I never knew shopping with her would be so much fun.I mean how hard is it to just pick one wedding dress, just one and get the hell out of here.My eyes are hurting terribly from the constant white dresses she puts on for me to check out.Right now, I can't even tell which of the whites is more beautiful or worse and my head aches from looking at one thing for three hours seated at one place."It's beautiful" I admire her, the dress is flare and wide like the type in one of those animated movies Melissa tries to imitate. She sighed "I don't really like it, it's kind of heavy." Here we go again."Of course it is, that's why it's a wedding gown," I told her, rolling my eyes. She's such a drama queen."It r
AVAShould I tell her?"Ava!!!" I heard Helena yell, startling me as the phone slipped out of my hand but I was quick enough to catch it."Ye-ye-yes," I stuttered, raising my head to look at her. She was looking at me with so much concern."I've called you so many times, what were you thinking? ""Nothing really," I said, looking around at anything but her."Wow, you look beautiful in that," I said, trying to change the subject."Of course, I look beautiful in anything especially when you're not here," she said, rolling her eyes"Are you OK?, you look lost, besides I'm not even putting on a wedding dress,"I immediately looked at her and noticed that she really wasn't putting on a wedding dress."I'm fine, what I actually meant was that you'
