Chapter IV- Another Chance

Lorence's mind was filled with confusion but before he grasped the whole situation came another voice.

"For you did something without any reservation, you've saved a precious life. Risking your life to save another, may it be because of love, kindness, or guilt, still it can't change the fact that what you did is an act of goodness. It is very known to us that you've done many bad things and decisions in life but still there's no greater treasure than one's life and we acknowledge your action of saving Miya. For that, we've decided to give you another chance."

"What chance? Who are you? What are you all talking about?" Lorence was still dumbfounded by how fast things were happening.

"It seems that you're still confused but right now you're on the verge of dying." Suddenly the scene in the hospital appears before Lorence's eyes. The doctor is doing his best to revive him but there's still no heartbeat until now. Lorence was still shocked seeing his own body like that.

"Now you've already seen your situation, are you willing to grab this opportunity?" The voice asks him

"Can I still really go back and continue living? Can I have and enjoy that privileged?" Lorence asks still with a bit of doubt and confusion.

"Well it's up to you whether to accept it or not but we need to inform you that the chance we're giving you is not to go back in your present life but to go back way before, it is to the time when you were still in high school. You need to experience your life again back then back what happened in the past will stay the same, nothing will change. The only difference is that you will have your memories of this time. Your memories of this accident will remain."

"If everything will remain the same doesn't it mean that this accident will still happen again? What's the point of going back if I already know what our future will be? If the outcome is still the same?" Lorence asks, he can't understand the logic in all of these things.

The voice laugh, "You're indeed smart but how come you didn't use that brain of yours to understand why Miya left you during those times.  Well, the most important thing about your journey to the past is to change your future, and in order to do that you must find out the real reason why Miya left you. If you can prevent that from happening you might change your future. But as I said before you can't change anything. You'll never find out what really happened before if the past will be changed so you need to live accordingly on how things were done in the past. But here's the deal, even though you can't move according to your own will when you go back, we will give you 3 chances to make a decision of your own, and that 3 chances will determine your future, it's up to you on how to use that chances, you can use it to move and talk on your own and not according on how your past self act. But you must remember to use it wisely. Only 3 chances nothing more and nothing less."

There was a moment of silence after that, Lorence was still thinking about the offer, but still, it's much better than dying this way. If he can really change everything using that 3 chances, the future may not end up like this.

"I understand, I'll accept your offer. I'll do my best to change our future together. I'm ready to go back now, thank you for this chance." Lorence said before offering a deep vow even though he can't see who he is talking to.

"Very well, you made a very wise decision. Now go back and don't waste this opportunity given to you. Explore the past and save yourself."

With that, a light flashes blinding Lorence's eyes. After a few moments, he opened his eyes again and the scene made him shiver with shock.

He's really back, back to the past. Right now he's in his old classroom in high school. He first checks his body and pinches himself if everything is real, and after confirming that he start to appreciate everything. He saw familiar faces, his friends and all. He roams his eyes around but someone is missing, Miya is not here. He felt something uncomfortable in his chest and started to feel uneasy. At that time the bell rings indicating that it is the time for their next lesson. Before their teacher arrives, a girl with a ponytail enter the classroom, she was looking down showing not an ounce of confidence. At first glance, you'll clearly see that she's an introverted type of girl. That girl is no other than Miya, she looks very different when he met her in the coffee shop before the accident. Everything about her looks different. When he saw her enter the classroom he wanted to go to her and immediately hug her be he can't, he can't act on his own, he can't move even if he wanted to. Just like what the voice told him before, everything will happen according to their actions in the past. Right now they were still not in a relationship and they're not close so there's no reason for him to go to her and that's not how they act in the past. Lorence can only repeat what his past self did and for now, he should wait the time when he and Miya will start dating.

"The voice is right, the only way to know what happened in the past is to experience everything again, explore everything and analyze each action. The answer should be there I only need to pay attention to everything."
