Two Hundred-Twenty-Five

Darius has taken to him like a moth to a flame. If Zachariah isn’t with me then Darius is with him and the smile on both their faces just shows how happy they both are. I jump as someone clears their throat behind me. I quickly wipe the tears that are sliding down my cheeks and turn around.

“Everyone has missed you around here…”

I give a small laugh as I look at Zaire. “You could have fooled me…”

“No, truthfully. We missed you…”

“Yeah, you may have, but other than a few in there, no one even knows who I am. I still don’t belong here. Everyone’s life continued and I’m not a part of it. They are all happy and again I am just bringing trouble, like yesterday.”

Zaire takes a step closer and places his hand on my cheek as he says in a low tone,

“Yesterday was not your fault. I knew there were a few members that didn’t agree with the training of females but I didn’t know who they were, so in a way you helped by getting Zachariah to force them to the front…”

“That is not what I meant…”
