Chapter 5 - Danger

“I’m out! Max, where are you?”

Lynn asked as he dialed Max’s number.

[ Just wait, boss… I’ll distract them for a bit! Just hide there for now! Harvey should be there any second now… ] Max answered as he ended the call.

Lynn frowned as he heard a few clicks before the call ended.

He could guarantee that Max definitely reloaded his gun or something.

‘Just how serious this is? Why do you have so many enemies!’

He was getting frustrated as he knows too little about his current situation. He wanted to leave this place as quickly as possible. He can’t let Shannon be in danger!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Lynn heard three gunshots which made him duck instinctively! It was followed by several screams and cries from the crowd.

‘What the heck?!’

This is Lynn’s first time to hear gunshots in such close proximity! He had seen people use guns on TV but the real deal is completely different.

“Boss! This is Harvey! Follow me! Let’s not waste Max’s sacrifice…”

Lynn finally saw Harvey…

He doesn’t seem to be a gangster, unlike Max. However, he can tell that Harvey is a professional fighter as well with his toned muscles under his fit shirt.

“Boss?”

After noticing Lynn’s hesitation, Harvey added…

“If you’re worried about Max, don’t be… He’ll do something about it… Trust him…”

Lynn then realized the situation as he no longer hesitated and followed the man. He was soon taken into a black van where it immediately sped up to leave the hospital…

‘Tsk… I just need five minutes! If I was able to talk to her… I’m sure—'

Lynn then realized that Harvey is still looking behind as if he’s worried about being chased.

Luckily, it only lasted for three minutes before they confirmed that they are no longer being followed.

He then looked around the van and noticed that there are five people inside including him.

“Harvey, who are those people chasing us?” Lynn asked since he really wanted to know what’s going on!

“Boss, they’re Dominic’s men… We didn’t think that he’ll immediately make a move after failing to kill you just a couple of days ago. It was my miscalculation…” Harvey bitterly smile as he answered but this is not what Lynn is looking for.

He already knows that they are Dominic’s men from Max but he still had no idea why they are chasing him!

“Ehem… Dominic’s men? I see… Can you tell me more about them?” Lynn could only thicken his face and ask. It might be weird to ask this but he can’t easily pretend if he didn’t know anything at all.

He has no choice… If he didn’t want to endanger Shannon… He needs to fix this problem first so he can see his girlfriend without any worries that he will get shot by Arial’s enemies.

After all, he didn’t even know whether he could leave this body again. He can only adapt according to his current situation.

Harvey looked at his boss curiously. He’s probably thinking why would his boss ask such an obvious question.

He’s trying to make sense of his question but he probably wouldn’t think of any. After all, he’s really just a clueless person and nothing more!

“Ahh… Do you want to know who are the survivors of Dominic’s men? Don’t worry, boss. We confirmed that their elite assassins have been killed by our hired men already. Those people chasing us are just some remnant forces. However, since they are mostly using firearms, they can still be troublesome to deal with.”

Harvey replied.

“Is that so? But how about Max?”

“Max? Don’t worry about him… He’s also a Martial Artist… As long as he’s not critically hit by a bullet, he can definitely escape with few injuries…”

“Ohhh… I thought he’ll really sacrifice his life.”

“Haha… Of course, it’s possible. Each one of us is willing to die for you, Boss Arial… However, our desire to live is also strong… So we will do our best to survive in order to continue serving you.”

Harvey’s voice was definitely sincere and Lynn could feel it. There was even a hint of admiration from him.

‘I thought that Arial is a human scum? Why would he gain such a loyal follower? Am I mistaken?’

Lynn could only nod as he decided to change the topic.

“Where are we going now?”

He asked as he noticed that they aren’t returning to Montemayor’s Subdivision.

“We’re heading back to your condo, Boss… After that, we’ll wait until Dominic’s men were cleared.”

“I… I see… When you said ‘cleared’… are you going to kill them?” Lynn asked cautiously.

Harvey was again confused as he looked at his boss…

“That’s right, boss… After putting them down, we should be a bit safer… As for Dominic himself, he must’ve escaped by now since their last attempt didn’t go well as expected.”

Lynn froze as soon as he heard that they will kill people just like that. Lynn realized that his world and Arial’s world is truly different from each other.

‘That’s enough questioning for now… He might notice that I’m no longer Arial if I asked too much.’

Lynn mused as he decided to pull out his phone.

Lynn checked the time and noticed that it’s almost 10 in the evening…

‘Right, I should check what’s the situation at the hospital…’

As soon as he opened his social media, he immediately saw a lot of posts related to the ‘Hospital Shooting’ that killed three innocent lives!

Lynn immediately tensed up as he checked all the comments related to the incident… After about five minutes of checking, he finally heaved a sigh of relief confirming that Shannon wasn’t included in the list of casualties…

He also read about the man who actually fought against six armed individuals who still managed to escape after getting shot three times on his body!

‘Incredible! How is Max still alive? Ugh… I hope he can be treated in the hospital immediately.’
