"Did she say that to you?" Nona exclaims, her old weak eyes devastating with disgust and disappointment.

I'm seated in front of her at her place after travelling for an hour again. My body is exhausted, and so is my mind. I'm still hoping my grandmother will prove mom wrong. I'm hoping whatever mom said to me was a lie and she was just wanting me to support her.

"I wanna if that's true", I choke.

"You know I love you, my child. I don't care if you're Janice's daughter or not", she sighs, staring at me affectionately and that's enough.

I feel a big lump in my throat, jamming my breath. She indirectly confessed that I'm not Janice Rozario's daughter.

I gulp down my pain and anger, hanging my head.

"Who's my mother then?" I ask.

"I can't believe Janice can say such things to you. I thought she has motherly affection for you. She raised you ever since you were born",
