Chapter 3 : Only two of us

"I'm coming home early today. You can finish your work if you want", Ivanna's text arrives.

I stare at the words, the lines. Then I scroll up. Upper. We have been sharing such texts for months. There was a time when we used to share silly chats and tease each other. Now everything seems to have faded.

And it's strange that now we text each other and ask the other one to stay back at work, not come home early. It's not that she doesn't want me back at home, but she knows that my business is going through some crucial phases.

I have lost more than four big contracts in the last six months. Tragic! Every time I had to rush to the hospital when Chrissie fainted or threw up blood. Even though everyone was around her, my heart didn't permit me. My family has always been my priority.

If it was possible, I would leave everything and stay beside Chrissie all the time but if my business crashes down, I'll not be able to give her the best treatment either.
