Everly reached for the movie ticket and set it aside. She said, "I will go directly to the movie theater, and as for Oliver…I will pick him up in the future when I have the chance."

She desperately wanted to pick Oliver off school, but what might others think if she did so without going public about her true identity? She didn't know, and she did not dare to gamble on it.

"Alright," Carson said.

"It's time to get back to work, Mister Baxter. I'd like to get back at it if that's all for now." She instantly distanced herself and said, "Please leave."

"Okay," he said and left obediently, leaving Everly alone inside the office to stare at the movie ticket with mixed feelings.

Without her noticing, Annie stepped in and did not know what to say when she saw how dazed Everly was.
