Chapter 282 Despair

"Is that your answer?" Carson uttered, his voice filled with sorrow that was barely noticeable by others.

She did not know what to say. Austin did not give her the time to react before grabbing her by the shoulder to bring her towards the car parked on the other side, where Annie was already waiting.

"Everly, what happened to you?"

Everly heard Annie's surprised voice, but she remained dazed. She could not forget the moment that she struggled out of Carson's hold and the despair she saw in his eyes.

She was devastated.

"Not now. Let's get in the car," Austin said.

"Oh, okay!" Annie responded and immediately helped Everly into the backseat of the car while Austin circled back to the front to drive.

The sky turned gray, and clouds began to gather.

Lightning tore through the sky, followed by the rumbling noises of thunder.

The cold rain fell and landed on the car's window. As soon as they turned on the heater inside the car, the car windows were instantly covered by mist.
