CHAPTER SEVEN

I quickened my steps behind him and we entered the building. It didn't take much. Mr Wolfe held open the door for me.

A few more steps and we reached the headmaster's office. Mr Wolfe was holding the mahogany door open for me. With a nervous smile, I stepped forward. The headmaster's office was enclosed by bookshelves, in the centre of the room, there was a desk with three chairs.

My eyes widened to see a young man, not more than twenty-five years old sitting behind the desk. He was handsome. Academy's people should try Hollywood.

He lifted his lashes and looked at us with stormy grey eyes. He smiled, "Donovan," he stood up from behind the desk and extended his hand.

Gosh! He is so tall. I could see his broad shoulders, imagining under a black coat.

Donovan forwarded his hand and took his hand. The surrounding air was calming. I was relaxed but the anxiety never left me.

" You must be Emma. Welcome to the Academy." He extended his hand toward me.

I took it with a nervous smile, "Thank you, Mr Moretti."

"You are going to love our academy." Shaking our hand firmly, he said.

We pulled our hands back and he turned to Donovan. I was expecting someone closer to Donovan's age, not a young professor. All girls must be drooling over him, "I would really recommend you to join again, Donovan." He said.

"I have decided." Donovan gave him a look. I couldn't understand as they were talking secretly in sign language. The sign language of eyes.

I shrugged my shoulders and looked around. It was looking less like an office and more like a library.

My head jerked when I felt their gazes on me, "I was just looking around, headmaster.'' I gulped. Desperately, I wanted to know his age.

     " Alessandro, " He said.

"But you're the headmaster," My jaw dropped.

"I won't be if Donovan hasn't decided to take a break. But I won't be for long." He turned his stormy grey eyes away from me to Donovan.

Donovan smirked, "We'll see, Alex." He spun to me, "There are your books and map of the academy, Emma." He paused just looking at me.

"Um, thanks, Mr Wolfe." I smiled.

He nodded at me and looked at Alessandro, "See you at the meeting," He said and exited the door, leaving me alone with him.

It's going to be very awkward. What should I do now? Grab the map and books and get out. That seems easy.

"Emma," I twirled, hearing his soft voice. His girlfriend must be lucky, "I can accompany you to your dorm. You must be tired after a long journey."

"Sounds good, thanks." I hurried to the desk. I wasn't tired. This place was heavenly and beautiful. I could wander around aimlessly. I gathered the books in my arms, hugging them to my chest and gripped the map in one hand.

I stilled when I saw his hand coming from behind me. My eyes were following him. I didn't long for a match of heart. Strange! When a young and handsome professor is standing behind me I am thinking about the black werewolf and his amazingly beautiful forest green eyes. The part still remained untouched

where I needed to know. How did he change the colour of his green eyes to The burning fire? This place and here's people were full of mystery. My stay here was going to be interesting and dangerous.

"Your room's key. I'll hold it for you," He said. One corner of his lips lifted up.

      He's handsome!

I smiled and nodded my head. We began to pace out of his office.

All curious gazes rested on me before students greeted their headmaster. He was my headmaster too.

"Are you a wolf too?" I asked to break the awkward silence.

He chuckled, "It's a werewolf, hon."

"Okay," I looked at the marble path that was leading to my dormitory. I guess. "Werewolf," I repeated the word and nodded my head. He was already my favourite. I couldn't push the fear that this unknown place had installed me. It was a mystery. They were shifters.

"I can scent fear." He smiled, his eyes were sending amusement in my way as he had cracked a joke instead of feeling my fear.

"Scented? Do I smell like fear?" I lowered my face and smelled myself. I couldn't smell anything. It was weighing on me.

"You need to learn a lot of things," He said with a soft smile.

He was saying the right thing. I nodded my head, "Can you read what's running in my mind?'' I asked, getting curious.

I don't want him to. It would feel as if he has taken away my freedom. I've held so much already, killing a lot of my dreams. I don't want them to take away my little freedom.

" NO. But your mate can," He said.

I stopped walking. Did he really say that? Mate, can he read my thoughts? I was assuming. I shook my head, "What do you mean? Do you werewolves have some powerful people who can read minds?" I asked. I had spent a life of emotions that tore me apart and gave me the strength and determination to keep my family safe. That was the reason, I was standing in front of a handsome headmaster and almost the entire academy was full of werewolves. I needed to be strong. I couldn't show my fear, anxiety. My sister needed me, my mother needed me, they would lead a happy life.

"No," He laughed and all the students looked at him. Most girls were looking at him, "You will learn a lot from your classes." He said, restarting the pace.

I let him lead me the way. He stopped at the entrance. He pressed a button. I glanced at the button dumbfoundedly. I was expecting something unusual instead of the elevator.

He waited for me to step in first, "You look popular. Of course, you are the headmaster at such a young age" I said as I whirled, hugging my books. The girls were having cold sighs, looking at him. I also feared they would kill me, "Some are shooting me murderous glares too." I chuckled.

He looked at me. His smirk was gone, "They're not the problem," He said in a casual way but I felt it was strange. As he was telling me, there were already big troubles which were waiting for me.

I shivered to hear a deep beep, "Are you trying to say something to me? Did I make a mistake accepting this job? " I asked.

"That's your room, Emma. See you around," He said, holding out his hand with the card key.

"Yeah! Thanks for helping,' I gripped the card between my fingers and thumb. He could have helped me but he chose to go. I respect him and I'm thankful for him for his friendly attitude. Though, the last part of our conversation is scaring me.

He slightly bowed his head. I walked out of the elevator and glanced back at him. The door was already closed. He confused me more. Mate could read my mind. I should stay away from Mate. I didn't want anyone to read my mind and let them know about my family.

I swiped the card and the door unlocked. I pushed it open with my feet. My gaze halted on the single bed in the middle of the room against the front wall, white bed sheet, pillow, two nightstands at both sides of it, lamps, bookshelves. I walked into the room for a better view and placed the piles of my new books at the edge of the bed. A single couch pushed near the window and a coffee table, with two wooden chairs on the second side of the table. My suitcase was already in the room. The room was very neat.

I love it. I can create my normal world in this room, no werewolf in here.

I smiled. I also spotted signs of a ventilation system. It was clearly an excellent one—the air was already fresh out, with no stuffiness to it as because of the forest area surrounding the academy. I didn't need to clean my room. I plopped on the mattress on my stomach and closed my eyes. The sight of the black wolf flashed. I snapped open my eyes, pushing myself in a sitting position. I couldn't take him off. I would have touched his soft-looking fur.

"Oh! My phone," I jerked forward and grabbed my bag from the heap of books.

I hit on the callback option. It rang one time. Ava answered it immediately, "Hi, did you see the wolf?

I pursed my lips, " You were calling me to ask this?" I grabbed the random book and read the title of the book. Werewolf History.

"Of course, " I heard her laughing.

I shook my head, "How's mother?" I asked.

"She's missing you. There are two nurses near our mother's age. The house is so beautiful. I have already sent you a picture."

     "I didn't check. "

     "You'll tell me first, "

"First what?" I closed the book.

     "Boyfriend,"

"I'm not here for a boyfriend. Concentrate on your study."

     "Yeah! Yeah!"

"Take care of mom and yourself."

"Bye. You're telling me first, ok?"

I disconnected the call, smirking. What would I have done without a crazy but caring sister? Resting my head back on the pillow, I closed my eyes.
