GETTING ARRESTED

  ☠️ CHAPTER FIVE ☠️

" Why did you take the pendant?" Was the question Holden threw at Raven without hesitation.

Raven swallowed hard immediately, her heart skipping in fear. 

" Calm down Raven, just act like you don't know what he is talking about" She tried calming her racing heart.

" Pardon?" She asked.

" Why did you take the pendant, are you deaf?" Holden snapped impatiently.

" With all due respect Boss, which pendant are you talking about?" Raven asked and that only made Holden's anger triple.

" I don't have all the time in the world with you, so give me the pendant right now before I lose it with you" Holden replied, approaching closer. Raven pressed her lips together, trying not to be intimidated by Holden's hard glare.

" I don't know what talking about Sir" She managed to say, trying not to shutter.

" Oh really?" Holden huffed angrily.

" Fine then. Since you don't know what I am talking about, maybe the cops will help you know" He added, bringing out his phone.

Raven's heart digested in her stomach on the mention of the police. Fine, she had been in prison for many couple of times but still, whenever the police is mentioned, her heart always skip.

" Hello one-one-zero..." 

" Yeah, I'll like to report a thief in my office" Holden said over the phone, glaring at Raven who was trying hard to remain calm.

" Yeah sure thanks" Holden ended the call.

" Well let's see if you still don't know what I am talking about" He said but to his surprise, Raven remained calm without saying a thing.

Few minutes later the police arrived making everyone in the company shocked and surprised. This was the first time the police visited the company and they couldn't help but wonder what was wrong.

The door of Holden's office opened and two of the police officers entered. Raven went stiff on the spot on seeing the police and she suddenly ran out of breath.

" Thank goodness you guys are here" Holden said walking over to the cops.

" There she is...she came to my house yesterday and stole a very expensive pendant enough to buy her" He reported, pointing at Raven. The police walked up to her.

" We will like you to come with us to our office and clarify the aligations imposed on you" One of the cops said, handcuffing Raven.

Raven didn't say a thing because her body was already getting cold. The police led her out of Holden's office and on stepping out, everyone present let out a gasp on seeing her handcuffed.

" Oh my God... isn't that Boss's new assistant? What did she do that got her arrested?"

" Maybe she stole something or she lied about something"

" Maybe, she's a fraud" People lamented, glaring at Raven hatefully.

Miley on hearing the murmurings, got up to check what was happening and was shocked to see Raven handcuffed and the police leading her outside.

 Hearing those words made breathing more difficult for Raven.

Today is just her second day at work and she was already arrested and going to prison.

Memories of people yelling at her and calling her a thief, memories of people throwing dirt and water at her came flashing through her mind.

" Kill her...kill her. She's a thief...a murderer and she deserves to die, she deserves to be burnt to death" 

" You're disgrace to humanity, you animal!" Raven could hear people yelling in her head. Before she knew it, her head started spinning and everywhere became blurry. Her body went stiff and cold even the more and she started gasping for breath.

The police stopped on their track on hearing a loud thud on the floor. Turning, they were shocked to see Raven, lying lifelessly on the floor.

Holden was pacing back and forth his office. He didn't know why the thought of Raven in the hospital made him feel really uncomfortable.

Was he feeling guilty?

" Maybe I shouldn't have called the cops on her. Did I take things too far?"

" Why did she have to steal the pendant at the first place?" He groaned angrily. He walk over to his office table and opening a drawer, he took a packet from the packets of cigarette lining up and a lighter. He sat down, bringing out a stick, he lit it up and started smoking.

The door of his office opened and Jimmy rushed in.

" Boss we have a problem" Jimmy said immediately and that made Holden's heart skip in fear.

Is it about Raven? Is her condition critical?

" What happened?" He asked, his face plain with no emotions.

" I found the pendant" Jimmy revealed and that made Holden frown at him in confusion.

" What do you mean you found the pendant, where?" He asked standing up from the chair and approaching Jimmy.

" I saw in your study room. It was lying under the table" Jimmy replied, bringing out the pendant. Holden grabbed it from him.

" But how is that possible?" He mumbled, staring at the pendant.

" I ransacked my study room but didn't see it. How come it was under the table all along?" 

" Maybe you couldn't see it" Jimmy answered.

" Damnit!" Holden cursed angrily.

" I blamed her for my carelessness and almost got her arrested" He muttered. He closed his eyes and stayed like that for some minutes before snapping them open.

" I need you to go visit her and make sure she's ok. Then report to me"

" Erm... what do you normally visit someone who's at the hospital with?" Holden asked.

" Erm...let's say; food stuffs, fruits, different kinds of fruits. I think that's ok" Jimmy replied.

" Good. Buy all those things...and take it to her then"

" You can leave" Holden added and Jimmy nodded before leaving. Holden walked back to chair and sat down, resuming his smoking.

Raven slowly opened her eyes only to see herself lying on a hospital bed with a drip inserted in her hand. She frowned her brows in confusion, sitting up. Seated on a chair beside her was Jimmy.

" You're awake" He said.

" What happened?" Raven couldn't help but ask.

" You... fainted. That's what happened" Jimmy answered and everything came flashing through Raven's mind. Her eyes widened a bit when she remembered something.

" Is the police here? Am I still getting arrested? I didn't take the pendant, I swear" She blabbered all at once.

" Calm down Miss Raven, you ain't getting arrested" Jimmy replied.

" Really?" Raven beamed happily.

" Yes. The pendant have been found" Happiness ran through Raven on hearing that.

" Take goodness Jade was able to return the pendant on time. She's the best" She mumbled with a heave.

" What did you say?" Jimmy asked.

" Nothing. I mean, thank goodness the pendant was found, at least I won't have to go to jail" She chuckled nervously.

" Oh yeah. Boss is really sorry for blaming you for his carelessness. He couldn't help it you know. That pendant means the world to him, let's say it is his life" Jimmy said.

" So as a way of condolence for the inconveniences, he brought you this" He reached out, bringing out five nylons. Standing and walking over to the table, Jimmy started bringing out what was inside the nylons, which turns out to be fruits, lots of fruits. On the second nylon was a flask, not to talk of the many foods stuffs in the remaining nylons.

Raven watched with widened eyes as Jimmy served her the food in the flask.

" You must be hungry, so Boss said I should bring you some food" Raven was already salivating, staring at the enticing and well cooked pasta before her.

" This is for me?" She asked, licking her lips.

" Ye..." She didn't let Jimmy finish when she grabbed the chopstick and started digging in.

" Wow, she is hungry" Jimmy muttered, walking back to the chair he was sitting on. He watched Raven devour the pasta like a beast.

" You might want to take it easy before you choke to death" He said but Raven wasn't even paying attention to what he said. All that matters to her is that, she is starving and this pasta is delicious.

" Mehn.... food is life" Raven exclaimed after shoving m the last pasta into her mouth. Gulping down the bottle of water beside her, she let out a loud burp.

" Sorry" She apologized, covering her mouth on realizing Jimmy was still with her.

" You know what, you can tell Boss not to worry. I bear absolutely no grudge against him. The fact that he brought me this delicious pasta solved everything" Raven mouthed making Jimmy chuckle.

" Really?"

" Of course. You know to me...food solves everything. You're hungry?...eat something" Raven said.

" Exactly" Jimmy backed her up.

" You're angry?...eat your favorite desert"

" I agree"

" You're tired of someone?... poison their food" 

" Exac... wait what?!" Jimmy eyes widened in horror on realizing what Raven just said.

" I'm just kidding" Raven bursted to laughter.

" Oh" Jimmy mouthed with a slight chuckle.

" For once I thought she meant what she just said" He heaved and just then his phone rang. Looking at the caller, it turned out to be Holden.

" Excuse me" He said to Raven and left.

" Hello Boss" He answered.

" How is she?" Was the first question Holden asked.

" She is perfectly fine, a 💯. She said she bear no grudge against you" Jimmy replied.

" Did you give her all those things you listed?" Holden asked and Jimmy couldn't help but be amazed.

" Wow Boss, I've never seen you care about someone like this, you even called to check on her. Tell me what's going on, huh?" He teased.

" Shut the fuck up. I'm the reason she's at the hospital you dumbo" Holden snapped before ending the call.

" Jeez, why is he so hot tempered, I was just kidding" Jimmy scoffed.
