His girlfriend

Raymond introduced me as his girlfriend, which everyone greets me.

"I don't know you had a girlfriend.'' A female said, she pouts then frowns at me.

"It's fairly new, three months to be exact." He tells her, putting an arm around my shoulder to pull me close.

"I doubt it will last long." She said, then turns her head away.

"Janet, how can you say such a thing?" Another female said.

I try to ignore that, and focus on the others that are around. Mostly on the two female I'm more familiar with.

"Can you excuse me a minute?" I ask, moving away from Raymond.

"Fancy seeing you here," I said.

"I can say the same. I thought you were married. Never did I expect to hear you being the girlfriend of Raymond. What was it, all a lie? Or maybe you are living a double life?"

"No, it's...you know, the situation I'm in."

Star scoffs. "I hear your complaints, but I don't believe your words."

"What? How can you say that? I show you the bruise on my stomach, and tell you all that he has done to me."
