Chapter 4

           Chapter 4

Miranda's Pov

A few days later, I got ready to go and see the stranger I had rescued. I was unable to sleep last night as I kept worrying about him. When I finally dozed off in the early hours of the morning, he plagued my dreams. I've never reacted this strongly to anyone before so it made me a worried. What was it about him?

Hurriedly eating my breakfast, I gulped down a bottle of water, making sure I took my pills too. I was ready. I stepped out of house, locking the door behind me and keeping the key. Walking all the way to the bus stop, i boarded a taxi and headed straight to the hospital. When I arrived, I found out the hospital was in commotion.

" What's going on?" I asked one of the nurses who was running in my direction. She was frantic, breathing heavily. She pointed at a ward, trying to form the words.

" It's the patient in that ward!" She finally voiced out, pointing to the direction. I glanced at where she pointed out and saw it was the same ward the stranger I saved in. Immediately alarmed, I turned back to her.

" What about him?" I hurriedly asked.

" Ever since he woke up, he's been growling and snapping at everyone! He wouldn't let the doctors touch him!!"

I froze, my mind reeling. " He's been growling?"

" Yes! It sounded so animalistic I was scared. He even pulled all the drips that was connected to him and trashed the machines. He's been uncontrollable. The doctors are debating on calling the cops!"

My mind went blank, unable to process what she said. When it finally did, I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands. I took off in a dead run to his ward. The nurse tried to call me back but I barely heard him. There were doctors in front of his ward and it looked like he had been tied down to the bed. He was still growling,  baring his teeth at everyone.

I froze, watching him closely. He looked so vicious, sitting there and growling. His eyes were a different color and they seemed to glow. Everyone was scared to their bones but for some reason, I couldn't feel any. He just looked so uncomfortable. Without thinking, I took a step into the ward.

" Miss! Don't go in there, it'll hurt you!" One of the doctors screamed but I barely heard him, all of my attention on the big guy in front of me. He barely looked at me, his eyes on the terrified doctors ahead. I walked deeper into the ward, the pull I felt towards him becoming stronger. An image of the time saw him flashed into my mind, he wasn't a normal human that's for sure.

" Hey..." I called out softly, clearing my throat. He stopped growling long enough to look at me. Then started again, his eyes burning brighter. From the corner of my eyes I could see his teeth growing. If he wasn't careful, he would transform to a wolf right there. I swallowed, trying my best to keep calm.

" It's okay…" I whispered. " I'm here, no one's going to hurt you." I continued softly. The growling lessened somewhat but he was still tense. I closed my eyes, all my focus on him.  " Please, stop!" I called out, tears in my eyes. In an instant, all the growling stopped and everywhere became quiet. The doctors were shocked beyond words. I couldn't believe what just happened. Did he just listen to me?

I let out a shuddering breath, walking even closer. He stared at me like I was a stranger of some kind. " It's okay, I won't hurt you." I said, bring my hands for him to see. " I have no guns on me." I muttered. He didn't say anything but he was still tense. I looked at his eyes and saw they'd stopped glowing. He must be calm... Or trying to be. I stretched out my hands, brushing the tip of his skin. He flinched, his eyes flickering. I tried again, this time holding his strong arms. He didn't move this time around.

" That's good. You can relax now. There's no one here to hurt you. You're safe now." I whispered while looking at him. He pursed his lips, a muscle ticking in his jaw. Very slowly, it relaxed, sitting on the bed.

" Good boy." I muttered, a smile on my face. Using my other free hand, I held his fingers. " You're doing just fine. " He stared at my hands, then at my face. I kept the smile on, all of my fear wearing off. " Now, you're going to listen to me... The way you've been doing all this while." I said slowly. His hands tightened on mine and took it as a response. I removed a hand. Pointing at the doctors, I glanced at him.

" Those guys, are here to help. You have to let them check up on you."

He growled, showing his displeasure. He doesn't want anyone near him, anyone except for me.

" I'll be here the entire time. I won't leave, I promise." I said. I hoped he hears the sincerity in my voice. He glanced at the doctors, then at me. I took as a cue and invited the doctors in. Their bodies shaking, they stepped into the ward.

" Come on... Check up on him. " I urged them as I felt him tense. I rubbed his arms. " Don't worry, I'm here. They won't hurt you. I won't let them." I whispered to him. He relaxed again. The doctors hurriedly checked on him, rushing out once they were through. I had to call them back in.

" I'm sorry, but we have to tell you this in our office." The doctor who attended to him said.

" As you can see, I can't leave. Do you want him to continue growling and snapping at your colleagues? Just tell me whatever it is you want to tell me here."

The doctor cleared his throat and continued. " Well, he seems fine. His heart rate is normal and he's out of danger."  The doctor announced.

" What about his wounds? He seemed to have a lot."

" Well, surprisingly they've all healed. " The doctor said. I found it incredulous. All of his wounds has healed?

" Are you being serious? He's not wounded anymore?"

" Yes. They've all healed. I also find it hard to believe too."

" That means, I can take him home right?"

       " Yes, of course."

" Okay then. I'll pay my bills and we'll head on home." I said and the doctor nodded, exiting the room. I turned to the handsome stranger, smiling up at him.

" Did you hear that? We'll be going home soon." I told him but he just stared at me. Taking a deep breath, I struggled for what to say.

" What's your name?" I asked. He intertwined his fingers with mine, gripping them gently. A bolt of electricity sizzled through me at the contact and I shuddered.

" Well, what was I expecting? I see a naked man in the woods and expect he's going to be nice to me." I muttered. Standing up, I tried to leave but he pulled me back, making almost lose my balance. He caught me just in time, pulling me to himself.

" Hey! I need to go and see the doctors! I need to pay your bills." I told him but he only gripped me tighter. " Possessive much?" I muttered, trying to break free from his steel-hard grip. He doesn't look like it but he's incredibly strong. Wait, who am I kidding? With all of those defined muscles? I must be out of my mind. Caressing his face, I rested my hand on his chin. " Hey, wait for me here. I'll be back and we can go home together. Do you understand that?"

His features hardened but he soon relaxed, nuzzling my hands. " Can you let me go now?" I whispered. He frowned but released his grip. I stood up, smiling at him before walking away. I soon paid the bills and we declared ready to go home. It was hard navigating the guy around as he seemed hostile to everyone, anyone that wasn't me. Not to mention the fact that he barely talks, just growls at people. They shudder in fear and scurry away the first chance they get.

We boarded a taxi home and he was quiet throughout, staring out the window as he held my hands. I tried to ask him some questions but it always met the same dead end. Giving up, I brought out my phone and began scrolling through it. We soon arrived home and paying the taxi driver off, stepped out and walked inside the house. I lay on the chair, drained of all energy. Today was exhausting. Talk about wanting to live a simple life. I glanced at the handsome stranger but he was still standing where I left him, his gaze flying across the room. Although his face revealed nothing, his eyes was epitome of wonder. He looked like he'd never seen a house before.

For want of something to do, I turned on the television. It landed on a news channel and there was some news about a highly dangerous wolf that had escaped the facility where it was kept and efforts were being made to find it. I sat up straight on the chair, my interest piqued. They showed a picture of the wolf in question and my heart skipped a beat. It looked exactly like the wolf I saw in the woods the day I went hiking. I turned to the handsome stranger.

" Is that you?" I asked, pointing at the image in the television. For the first time, he nodded. I gasped, so he was that wolf! But now he's human. Did it change? Is it a shape shifter? Or better still, is it a werewolf? I thought those things were fake! A man appeared on the tv, saying he was one of the scientists that worked in the facility and was present when the wolf escaped. The stranger began growling immediately, his eyes glowing. Ignoring him, I continued listening to the news. They put up a number, requesting we call in if we ever found information about the wolf.

I brought out my phone, dialing the number on the screen when it got snatched from me. The next thing I heard was the smashing of the phone on the ground. I turned around to meet a pair of different colored eyes glaring at me.

         What the hell?!
