Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“Stop!’ a voice yelled.

Lucas turned around to see his mother coming toward him, her eyes glinting dangerously.

“What the hell do you think you are doing?” she asked when she got close to him.

’What I do on the field with my men is none of your business, mother,’ he snapped at her

’It becomes my business when you are trying to kill an innocent soul,’ she yelled back. “What has he done to you?”

“I think I just told you it is none of your business, so why are you still prying?” he glared at her.

‘‘Lucas!!’’ she snapped at him. ‘‘I am your mother and you will learn how to talk to me with respect.’’

‘‘Respect?’’ he scoffed. ‘‘You and I both know that is the last thing you can get from me.’’

Athena raised her hand and struck him on his cheek.

The men gasp, their eyes growing wide. This was the first time their alpha would be hit in their presence.

‘‘Leave us,” Athena said, her eyes not wavering from Lucas

The men filed off the field quickly.

“What did you just do in front of my men?” Lucas growled.

‘‘I taught you manners, son. It seems you are lacking it these days.’’

‘‘Did you just slap me in front of my men?’‘

“Our men,” she stepped closer to him. “And I will slap you again if you don't learn your place.”

“My place!? he scoffed.

“The one who should learn her place is you,’ he glared at her. ’This is my pack, and I would not let you disrespect me.’

“LUCAS!’ She growled at him.

“Look here, woman, you will learn how to treat me with respect or I would have no choice but to throw you in the dungeon with people like you.’

Athena gasp, she could not believe her own son was threatening to imprison her. The same so she gave birth to.

“You wouldn’t dare,’ her voice shook with uncertainty.

“Try me then,” he whispered, his hot breath fanning her face for a moment, before he moved away from her and left her standing there, her eyes wide.

********************

I watched as he walked away from me, my heart thumping so hard in my chest at his word.

He would throw me in the dungeon; that, I’m sure of. Lucas never makes an empty threat.

“What have I done?” a low whimper slid out of my mouth.

This is not the son I gave birth to. He might have been cold and unfeeling, but he never for once raised his voice at me or even dare to threaten me.

Goodness!

“Did I make a mistake sending him out of the pack?” a lone tear slid out of my eye.

“Goddess, what can I do to get back my son?” I let the tears fall this time.

His words broke my heart. I don’t deserve this from him when everything I have ever done is love like a mother should.

I clutch my aching heart and drag my weak legs away from the field, the tears not willing to stop falling.

“Luna, are you alright?’ I heard someone asked.

I turn my head to see Iris staring at me with her big green eyes.

“I am,” I wiped my eyes to get rid of the tears in them.

“But you were crying just a second ago?” she asked.

“I was,” I tried to smile. ’I got dust in my eyes,’

“Oh! okay, if you say so,’ she smiled and walked away from me.

The way she is heavily dressed and grinning from ear to ear spikes my suspicion.

“Iris,” I called.

She turns around, and I caught sight of the smile on her face before she hid it.

“Are you going out?’

“No, Alpha sent for me.’ this time she didn’t even try to hide the smile on her face.

I balled my fist as she turns away from me, swaying her hips as she moves.

“That bitch,” I cursed under my nose.

No matter how hard I try to get her claws away from my son, she seems to sink it deeper.

’Is that why he is angry with me?’ I asked myself. “Because I try to separate them from each other?”

A frown settled itself on my face, as I thought of the possibility.

***************

Iris held her head high as she walks away from Athena, the smile on her face not even fading one bit.

She loved the expression on the old woman's face when she told her she was meeting her son. She smiled when she recalled how her voice shook when she questioned her.

‘‘I just wish she would die and let me be free to have Lucas all to myself,’’ she grumbled.

They both despise each other. Athena doesn't want her close to her son because she isn't his mate, and that is the reason for her hatred.

She loves Lucas since they were little and she wanted him for herself, and you could imagine the profound joy she felt the day he picked her to be his mistress.

She finally stopped in front of a huge French door, and knocked.

“Come in,” his icy voice called.

She pushed the door open, and waltz in, she stopped a few meters from him. A smile graced her lip as she watched him from his seat.

Iris stood there, waiting for his order. He hasn’t even acknowledged her since she came. His attention was solely on the files scattered on his table, but she didn’t care.

As long as this man in front of her only touch her and no one else, his coldness wouldn’t bother her. She bit her lip, staring at his face that was half hidden by the shadow of the dimmed light in the room.

She would do anything to have him all to herself, even if it means…

The scraping sound of the table interrupts her thought, she looked up to see Lucas folding what looked like a scroll.

“Alpha,” she called.

“Strip.”
