The Hunt

[Mason’s POV]

When we arrived back at the pack grounds, the carnage from the earlier battle had already been cleaned up, and a large bonfire was blazing. Stopping, I watched as those who died defending the pack were thrown in and released into the sky.

‘This is your fault.’ A small voice in the back of my head murmured. ‘If you didn’t come back.’

‘I know that.’

I did know that it was my fault that the past was changed, but in the end, this was for the greater good. In the future, many more of my men would be slaughtered, and when they promised their loyalty, they knew what that entailed.

"Are you just going to stand there?" My younger self demanded, jolting me out of my reverie. "Time is being wasted."

"Right." I sighed.

As I began to move again, I extended my senses until I felt Chris and Bella.

"This way." I announced, motioning for Dax and his men to follow me.

Nothing was said as our group began to make our way across the grounds until I spotted those in question.
