At the party

Shirley’s POV

“I am nervous Kelly, will I manage? I have never been to a party before.” I say to Kelly when we reach Ivan's house. It was beautiful and big. There was loud music in there with a lot of people. I could hardly talk to Kelly.

“Don’t worry, you will be just fine. You are with me, remember.” She assured me and I felt a little safe.

She opens the door and leads me inside. There are people all over with drinks and food on the tables. Some girls are kissing their boyfriends and everyone is just okay with that. Some are dancing, some are smoking and drinking.

“Let us go and sit over there” Kelly said to me.

I followed her from behind. I was feeling very shy. Everyone will know I have never been to a party before and I will be a laughing stock of the school. I have to try my best to not shame myself.

“I love that song Shirley.” Kelly said as she jumped out of her chair into the dance floor. I could see she had some moves and her waist was so flexible. She was good.

“Come dance with me” She shouts at me.

“Just continue Kelly” I shout back at her. She smiles and continue. I can never be perfect like her. She knows how to have fun.

“Hey gougers, Do you want some drink” A male voice said from behind me. My whole body shivers. I turn to see who it was.

“Ooh hey." That is all I manage to say after seeing Ivan. He looked really handsome today.

“I see you have managed to come to my party.” He smiles at me while he reached for a chair beside me.

“Yes, I told you I will come and here I am.” I said smiling; I did not want him to see how uncomfortable I was.

“Have I told you how beautiful you look in that dress? You look amazing Shirley. I have never seen you be this beautiful.” He says as he looks at my thighs. I felt like covering them up with the coat I was wearing but I could not.

“Thank you Ivan, you look good too, you know.” I said.

He then just sat there staring at me. I just wanted to run out of that place. My heart kept racing. I don't know why all I know his cute eyes made me really feel uncomfortable. He was so handsome that any girl would not think of resisting him.

“Do you want something to drink?” He repeated his question. Maybe he felt the same awkwardness too.

“No Ivan, I don’t drink. But I can have juice or soda if you have one here.” I said. He stood up, held my hand and led me to the kitchen. He then opened the fridge and served me mango juice.

“Thanks.” I said as I took a sip. It was so good that I ended up smiling.

“Where are your parents Ivan.” I asked him. My parents will never allow me to have a party in the house. They will never allow that kind of nuisance, especially my dad.

“They are out, they went for a trip with mom. They will be back on Sunday afternoon.” He said. “Why are you asking me that?” He added.

I smiled. I could not find the answer to his question. I mean I only asked him that because we had nothing to talk about and most of the time we just stared at each other.

“Let us go and dance then, if you can’t answer my question, and please don’t say no this time.” He said.

I could not even say yes or no. I just froze there. I have never danced in front of so many people before. He held me by my waist and led me to the dancing spot.

“I don’t know how to dance, Ivan.” I whispered in his ear. It was so embarrassing for me.

“Don’t worry, I don’t mind if you don’t know I will start teaching you.” Ivan promised. He was sweet. I never knew he was like that. I found myself forgetting all of my fears and allowed myself to be taught by him. I just felt so safe in his hands.

Kelly’s POV

We reach the party and I notice Shirley looked nervous, it is obvious she is shy. She has always been like that, very afraid to do something nasty.

“I am nervous Kelly.” She confesses to me. I don’t know how to deal with her so I just tell her she will just be fine.

We entered Ivan’s house and there were many people. The place is lit. Songs are so good they make you just start dancing. I showed Shirley where we were sitting and she just obeyed. Poor girl is just afraid of this place.

Before I sit down the DJ plays my favourite song. I jump onto the dance floor and start dancing. I notice Shirley staring at me. I bet she feels jealous about my dance moves. I invite her to dance with me and she declines. I knew she would do that so I just ignored her and continued dancing.

I totally forget about Shirley and I decide to just enjoy the moment. That is why people go to clubs and parties right? Just to enjoy themselves. Alcohol was what lightened my mood, mostly it turned me on and sometimes I just felt like I was the only girl in the world.

I admit Shirley is my friend and I love her but our likes and class are just different from each other. She was too holy, she had not done nasty stuff like I did. She did not even have a boyfriend while I had multiple of them though I don’t love either of them.

There was only one boy I really liked and I don’t know if he felt the same was about me. He had ignored me this whole time but I promised myself it would not be for long, because one of these days he would fall deeply in love with me. I will just wait and see.

When I am tired of dancing I decide to take a drink. I discover Shirley is not where I left her. “Where is this girl or has she decided to go home without telling me?.” I ask myself.

I decide to look for her and I notice her on the stage dancing with Ivan. Ivan had held her waist and Shirley's hands were on his shoulders. The feeling of jealousy runs deep inside me and I just want to go right infront of them and tear them apart from each other but I just control myself.

"How could Shirley do this to me? I cannot allow this to happen." I find myself saying out loud
