Chapter Seven

"Adam?" I breathlessly called out.

"Yeah?" He hummed in response.

I take a step back and turn my head away, averting my eyes from his handsome face and tempting lips.

"It's probably best if I leave. I need to start packing my stuff since I'm moving in with you," I announced.

"Yeah, right. You do that."

"I'll see you later." I start to walk towards the door. I flip my hair and add a little sway to my hips as I make my way to the door. Once I reach it, I turn around and see him smirking.

I bet he liked the show.

I look at all my stuff, now neatly packed in boxes and suitcases. It's been three days since the red carpet rendezvous and I still can't believe I'm doing this.

Marriage was one thing, but living together?

Just then, my phone pings and I see it's a message from Adam.

Adam- Are you getting here soon?

Payton- I'm still waiting for the movers

Adam- Well, hurry up

Payton- Oh . . .

Payton- Hey, it's not up to me.

Payton- I'm doing my best.

Adam- I know, I know. The thing is, I have a meeting later this afternoon. I'd like to see you nicely settled in before I leave.

Payton- How nice of you

Payton- Anyway, they should be her any minute now

Adam- See you soon

I'm sure the paparazzi will put up a field day with me. I look amazing in this white with blue polka dotted singlet, blue jean shorts, a silver watch and loop earrings for accessories.

Now let's do this.

Finally!

That was the last box.

It took two hours to move all my stuff from my apartment to Adams house.

The moving van has just disappeared to get the last forgotten suitcase. As of today I am living with my boss, who I'm fake married to.

God, how did my life get so messy?

Adam shows up at that moment, like an answer to my recent thought. Adam Owens is the answer to the things messy in my life right now.

"Welcome to my home. I'm sorry- our home."

I blush a little. This house, or rather mansion was simply incredible. I've never seen anything like it.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"Like it? I love it!"

"I'm happy to hear that. I really want you to feel at home here."

"I get that, but I'm still a bit nervous," I expressed.

"About what?"

"Well, I'm moving out of my apartment to  live with my boss. I'd say that's something to be nervous about," I retorted.

Adam laughs out loud, amusement glowing in his eyes. "When you're off the clock, I'm not your boss. And since it's your day off, I'll be Adam to you. Not Mr. Owens," he chuckled.

"I'll remember that."

"Good. And after the six months are up, I'll help you get a new place," he offered.

"Really? That's really kind of you," I cheered. He merely shrugs at that.

"Come on, let me show you around before I go back to work."

After a thorough tour of our amazing home, we finally stop in front of the last unexplored room.

"So, this is it." He exclaimed, facing me. I look at him curiously.

"What is this room?" I pointed at the door some feet away from us. His mood suddenly gets a little bit darker.

"That's my room, and it's off limits," he growled. The door bell sounds, and he relaxes a bit. "Must be the moving van. I'll be right back."

After he leaves, I stand by myself in the hallway wondering what to do next. His bedroom door is slightly ajar. A little peek won't hurt anyone right?

Without thinking it through, my feet start to move towards his bedroom. I slowly open the door farther . . . and see a pair of handcuffs around his bedpost!!
