Ruby stared at him as he finished what was left in his mug. Everything about him was so perfect, the way his lips parted when he lifted the mug.

“I’ve had recurring nightmares since I was a kid” he began solemnly

Ruby pulled the sheets to her chest as she watched him with keen eyes. It was one of those days she knew they were about to have a heart to heart discussion.

The top question on her mind was why he continually teased her. Why did he want to kiss her but then would change his mind or be distracted by a phone call?

“When I was in college, I would have to travel home a month before because only my mom had the patience. One time, I had a nightmare and woke everyone up in my dorm. They had been considerate and would comfort me but I didn’t want to be a burden to them”

Ruby could feel the tears in her eyes. She had always seen Nate as the perfect person who never had to struggle for anything. He made things look too easy and carried himself with so much grace that
