Broken promise

She withdrew her foot. “No need, just minor scratches.”

He was still pulling her foot, placing it on his lap. David dipped a cotton ball in the medicine and gently applied it to her. She was in so much pain that her brows furrowed, and she lowered her head and groaned.

"Are you in pain?"

"It's fine, it doesn't hurt much..."

She was stubborn again. He stooped, blowing at her feet. Then he raised his head again. "A little blowing won't hurt anymore."

Ella's heart softened. This man was so gentle like he was coaxing a child.

“Are you injured?” Ella asked.

"Not available."
