CHAPTER FIVE

Jace placed his hand on her body and she could feel him try to move closer to her on the bed. She groaned with a smug smile on her face  and opened her eyes then took his hand off her gently. It was morning already. With a yawn, she sat up and took her phone from the bedside drawer, it was just 5:30am. It was still way early so she had all the time that she needed to get ready for work. She was going to make a hearty breakfast for both of them before she'd leave for work.

"Good morning baby" Jace said with a sleepy voice as he stretched and yawned too before he sat up beside her then kissed her on the cheek as he pulled her to sit on his lap. She smiled as she shifted to sit well then felt his morning erection and their eyes met with heat in them. They just had a wild night but it seemed he wanted more. Too bad she had work to get too… It was going to be another time. He kissed her on the neck and that single act sent shivers down her skin as her lower belly tingled from the feel of his length against her core, she did have the time, she had to get to work to get her deliveries done before it'd be too late.

Goosebumps appeared on her skin slowly as he kissed her on the lips and wrapped his arms around her then pulled her closer to him, making her release a moan into his mouth and he moaned too in response as his tongue brushed against hers and he gently bit on her lower lip. She cupped his face and giggled before kissing him again, setting the mood into a playful one as they teased each other and peppered kisses on each other's faces while laughing in between.

She pulled from the kiss after a while and smiled at him "what?" He asked her, mirroring her smile and she shook her head "nothing" she replied and kept on staring at him "I love you Jace" she whispered while running her fingers through his soft hair and she caught a look in his eyes but like a flash, it wasn't there anymore so she couldn't decipher what it meant. His smile grew wider as he gave her a quick kiss on her lips "I love you too babe" he said and hugged her tight for a while, both of them silent to enjoy the moment before they finally got off the bed and headed for the bathroom where they brushed together then had their bath and went back into the room to get dressed for the day; Samantha would head for the bakery and Jace would stay back at home for his freelancing job that he was still struggling to get a hang of.

Soon they were done and Samantha was done dressing before Jace so she went to the kitchen to make breakfast for both of them as she tried to find her way through the mess everywhere from the party. She successfully made pancakes after cleaning the kitchen a bit and drizzled honey syrup over it before setting the plate on the dining table she just cleared for her and Jace to eat. He finally came out of the room as she was placing the mugs of coffee on both sides of the plate then took forks from the rack, she noticed he had a frown on his face as he took a seat and she followed suit. "What's wrong?" She asked worriedly and he just shook his head "it's nothing. Just a client giving me a hard time with ridiculous requests" he explained and she gently rubbed her palm on his back in a circular motion "you'll be fine sweetie. I'm sure it'll all be fine with the client" she told him and he gave her a smile she was sure he just forced on his face for her to let it be. She got the cue immediately and didn't talk about it again as she turned to the pancake and ate in silence until she was done and drank her coffee in a go then she took the plates, washed them in the sink and arranged them on the rack to drain.

Jace was like that, if he had a problem, he didn't share it. He'd rather bottle it all up until he had it all solved. It probably hurt his ego to let her know he didn't always have things under his control so she understood and always gave him his space if he was having a hard time.

She got her bag and took her phone out to call a cleaning company to get the house cleaned up while Jace would supervise them since he would be home. His phone began to ring and immediately he looked at the screen, she saw him stiffen before he declined the call and placed the screen of his phone down on the table… he was acting sneaky but she wasn't going to ask about it because it would most likely lead to a fight and she didn't want to fight with him. It was going to escalate because Jace was very dramatic. She quickly called the cleaning company and told them what she wanted then gave her address and apartment number before she returned her phone to her bag after ending the call and went to give Jace a kiss on his cheek from behind "I called a cleaning company, they'll be here soon to take care of the whole mess. I'll be leaving now, bye" she said and left for the door where she put on her shoes "bye" he replied cheerfully and blew her a kiss which made her smile before she walked out of the apartment and went into the elevator, the smile still on her face. At least he seemed okay even though the so-called client was giving him a hard time.

She got to work soon and what welcomed her into the bakery was the smell of burnt cakes… if she could perceive it in the cafe all the way from the bakery, that meant it was bad. She quickly greeted the customers at each table before she rushed off into the bakery. The place was smokey; Olivia was scolding the girl that obviously burnt the whole pan of twelve cupcakes while the rest of her workers were trying to clear off the smoke in the air while coughing from how it choked. They still hadn't noticed her presence until she began to cough and Olivia turned around immediately to face her. She automatically put on a fake smile and pulled Samantha out of the bakery and into her office that was opposite hers. "Hey you're early today" she said, the cheerfulness in her voice sounding forced as her eyes were wide with panic and her fake smile was disappearing slowly. If Samantha knew what the girl did to those poor cupcakes, all hell was going to break loose, she had given her a long talk and that was enough so she was going to try and make her calm down.

"Don't cover up for her Olivia" Samantha said angrily and Olivia sighed, letting go of her act "I already queried her, Samantha and she is going to apologize then make up for her mistake, she felt really sorry about this mistake.. I'm sure she won't do it again so please just let it go" Olivia begged and Samantha stared hard at her for almost a minute before she sighed and sat on the chair

"I'm just so pissed Olivia, I've lost some money for those cupcakes she burnt"

"And she won't do it again. She promised me"

"If she does again, I'm firing her" Samantha said firmly and Olivia nodded in agreement "agreed" she replied and went over to stand In front of Samantha "c'mon let's go back to the bakery, I only brought you here to calm that temper of yours" she said and Samantha chuckled "I know right? I have such a temper" she said sarcastically and followed Olivia out of the office and into the bakery where the girl stood at the entrance, waiting for them with her head bowed as she fidgeted with her fingers "I'm so sorry ma'am, I wasn't thinking and I promise not to do it again, it won't repeat itself" she stammered as she apologized and Samantha clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth "fine then but if you do it again, I'm firing you"

That made the girl look at Samantha immediately with wide eyes "I don't give third chances and if you really need this job, you won't make such a mistake again" she added in response to the surprised look she gave and the girl just nodded with a downcast look "I understand, I'll bake a new batch" the girl said and scurried of to start while Samantha walked out to the counter to join the attendant and assist her "you can be really scary. You know that right?" Olivia told her and she smiled, she could be scary when someone asks for it.

Customers flooded in as usual and their day was swamped with orders and orders until it was time to close and Samantha ushered the last customers out of the cafe with a smile then locked the front door and turned the sign to show they were closed. She turned around and stretched before she went to her office to get her bag then went to Olivia's office to wait for her so they'd leave together since they were the only ones left in the bakery.

They followed the back door and locked it then maneuvered their way to the front where the street was bustling with people that went to and fro.

"Good night then, I'll wait for Jace to come for me" Samantha told Olivia and they hugged before she walked off to her place.

Samantha waited for about ten minutes and soon it started to rain. She sought for shelter and tried Jace's number but he wasn't picking up. She tried four more times and when he was picking up or calling back, she decided to go home herself which meant she would get drenched before she would find a taxi to take her.

She got lucky and a taxi stopped for her seconds after she got to the walkway, she got in and gave her address, brimming with anger that she was going to explode out of herself once she got home, how could he not come for her after work? That cafe was the major reason why they were still surviving because he was going through a rough patch with his job so he was meant to do his part in helping by coming to get her but instead he left her in the rain and wasn't picking her calls. He couldn't say he forgot to come and get her, how could he forget to do something he had been doing for so long?

She got home and rushed up to her apartment after paying the driver and apologizing for getting his car wet. She put in the lock code and opened the door then went in. The house was clean which meant the cleaning company came and they did a really good job in cleaning everywhere. She took off her shoes and stormed into the living room to yell at Jace at the top of her voice only to see what she never thought she would see her husband do to her, not even in the next few years to come in their marriage . He was naked on their couch in the living room with another woman riding him so hard as they moaned together that they didn't notice her. She wanted to be told she was dreaming but this was real. Jace was cheating on her, inside their house, it felt like he wanted her to see it, like he wanted to show her what he had been doing because it was obvious that this had been going on for a long time between them both.
