Chapter 3. Pregnant

Maeve POV

My heart was racing as I stood in front of the Alpha door of the city's strongest pack. I'm not sure why I had the courage to go and offer the antidote for his wounds despite what he said last night.

“This is your plan, Maeve; keep going,” I incentivized myself. I couldn't help but notice his deviance as soon as the door opened.

“He's still wearing a mask?! Aish,” I grumbled to myself. I hovered over his posture once more, almost spitting at what I saw. Despite the fact that he was wearing a mask, this one was undeniably stylish. He's tall and muscular, with white skin and a beautiful face. Oh, my majesty! His long eyelashes, his deep blue orbs, then any woman who looks will surely shed panty in grace. That appears to be pulling and has the potential to drown someone simply by looking into his eyes.

“Mate,” we both mumbled, causing everyone in the room to gasp.

I still can't take my gaze away from his, and he can't either. Something seemed to be urging me to approach him and kiss him. Embrace and drift to the set's accuracy, but I know that only happens in fairy tales and not in my life.

Everyone in the room soon said their goodbyes one by one, leaving just the two of us.

“I'm surprised you're still alive and managed to outwit death on your own.” I just kept staring at him.

His gaze shifted to my head before lowering it to his feet and returning it to my face. When I saw him walking closer in my direction, my knees began to tremble, and I gulped.

“I'll give you the antidote, but I need you to introduce me to the entirety of your tenure as your mate and Luna of the Black Moon pack,” I said directly, and I heard him chuckle.

“Why do you want to be my Luna and my pack, huh?” I tried to calm myself, but I gasped for air when I felt him right in front of me, his face so close that I couldn't breathe.

“I-I… I,” I stuttered, my eyes rounding when he asked what was wrong. I am prepared to speak the thread of lies I have prepared, but just looking at him and enduring his dominating aura can make my mouth zip and make me unable to utter even a single letter without stuttering or mumbling inaudibly.

He chuckled as he asked, “Cat got your tongue, milady?”

I gathered my strength and kept my cool in order to avoid any further embarrassment.

“I am your mate, and when the time comes, I will be the Luna of this pack; what's wrong if I want to be sure and secure my position?” I said confidently, raising my brows to him.

I watched as his brows drew together and his brow crumpled.

“Yes, you are my mate, but as I've previously stated, I DON'T CARE. The position of Luna in my pack will be decided by me, not by this mate shit thing! I can endure pain, and rejecting you will be like small needles pierced into my heart,” he mockingly laughed and smirked afterwards. My complexion changed as I fumed in annoyance, and I dashed forward to punch his face, but he was too quick to avoid my punch. He snatched my hand and thrust it in front of my face, still holding it firmly, causing me to groan in pain.

“Then bear the consequences. Endure the pain until you die,” I say sternly as I yank his grip on my hand. I was about to walk away when he spoke up again.

“What are your inner agendas, and to which pack do you belong?” He asked emphatically, preventing me from walking away. I turned around to face him. “I need that position to live my life, and you need that antidote to live and still reign this pack as the Alpha; it's a win-win offer, but I didn't expect that my mate is a foolish leader,” I whispered the last two words, fearing he'd snap my head off in an instant if he heard them.

“You smell plain, which is unusual for a rogue wolf,” he said as he walked in front of me.

When am I going to be able to escape him and this room?! If he doesn't want the antidote, don't give it to him! I feel it would be better not to force him because I'd rather prefer him died naturally!

“Will we bear the agony of another rejection or, worse, the death of our mate?” Ari asked in my head, debating the pros and cons of the situation.

“Are you even listening?!” My eyes widened in surprise at my friend's sudden outburst, and I could feel my heart begin to beat quickly. How can I forget, aish, that he's still asking me?

“Yes, I don't belong to any pack, but I'm not hiding my true scent,” I said quietly between breaths. I always felt uneasy lying around him, as if he was a lie detector that could tell if I was telling the truth or trying to deceive him.

“ARGHHHHHHH!” he groaned as he struggled to lift his clothes. He squirmed on the floor as a result of the pain.

I looked at him, perplexed, and quickly tended to him on the floor. Ari struggled to calm down as my heart almost broke at the sight.

"Ari, not now, please; he'll be fine,” I say as I tame my wolf.

I took a necklace from inside my dress and took out the small bottle pendant.

“Ahhhh w-what a-are y-you trying to do?” He had a difficult time answering, which made me roll my eyes.

“Of course, I can't give you the cure if your face is covered!” A streak irritated my explanation.

“I can handle it,” he said angrily as he hurriedly took the bottle from my grasp and begged me to turn away from me, so he could drink it.

“Very proud! Boastful! Idiot!” I snarled as I looked at his backside.

“I can bear pain, blah blah blah,” I repeat what he said earlier.

“The one who said he could bear the pain but is now begging me to help him take away the pain of my claws,” I said to him, referring to his suffocation.

I laughed at his reaction and grabbed a bottle of water from his mini-refrigerator in one corner of the office. This Alpha's way of life is truly luxurious. I simply shook my head and handed him the bottle of water. He drank it while still turning away from me.

“And because you've already taken my antidote, it means you've accepted my offer; I'll see you tomorrow.”

“What?! Hey, wait! You gave it to me! I didn't agree with what we talked about!” He was still yelling, but I dashed out of his office and into the forest.

“I managed to enter their pack, and now it's easy for me to execute my plan; if their Alpha doesn't care about me being his mate, I'll make sure he retracts his words soon.” “I, Maeve, I swear I WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE REJECTION AGAIN! I SWEAR TO THE OLDEST STONE, AND I CURSE TO THE GODS AND GODDESSES!” I mumbled and flew into the thin air madly.

...the next day...

A small smirk played in my lips while standing in front of a massive house. I was greeted by a two-story white building with gothic designs. Outside, there are large stained glass windows, pointed arches, and ornate decoration. I decided to enter through the door because it was only ten metres away.

I first adjusted the scarf around my neck and lowered my right hand to reach the suitcase handle. I began to pull and drag it, making a lot of noise.

I gently knocked three times on the door with my hand. While crossing my hands on my chest, I let out a small carve of my lips. I waited a few minutes, but nothing happened. Feeling outraged, I pounded on the door once more.

"Knock Knock! Knock Knock!" I yelled.

"Open the door!" I exclaimed, but there has been no response?!

"You're grating on my nerves, Chaste!" I screamed at the door, but  still, no one answered.

I frowned and sat in my suitcase, hugging the handle and driving it around.

"Who the hell is tha—"

With a sigh of irritation, a sleepy man opened the door. His curly, blonde hair is still a tangle while still wearing boxer shorts and a t-shirt.

"It's me," I announced as I walked into the house. I passed by his side and purposefully hit him.

"Wait a minute, man. Can you not see the path? " He irritatedly run to caught up to me.

"Who the hell are you?! And what exactly are you doing here?! " he wondered, still groggy from sleep while his brows are furrowed in wonder.

"I'm Maeve, the Luna of your pack," I said, winking at him.

"By the way, Matthew right? Please bring my suitcase inside." I smiled sweetly as I walked straight inside the house.

“Suitcase? Who the hell are you and why do you have suitcases?" He asked with unbelievable expression written on his face but he got no choice. I sat on the couch with my legs crossed, watching Matthew obey my commands. Humph, Chaste wasn't here.

"I'm going to live here," I said casually, leaning against the soft mattress.

"What?!?" Is Alpha Chaste aware of this? " Matt was still perplexed by the question as he placed my belongings in front of me and left them there.

"Not yet," I said.

"What?!" He asked, almost incredulously, angrily making the lines on his brow crumpled.

"He'll agree," I said, rising from my seat and walking besides him. I tapped his shoulders and followed him up the gleaming staircase.

"Does he have a room? I'd like to take a break first. " I asked, victoriously smiling in my head.

"I don't even know who you are! I believe I should inform Alpha of this.” He shouted.

“I'll have to mindlink him. Shit, I messed this up," he continues to blather on his own.

I ignored him and began sniffing the air, hoping that Chaste's scent would help me find his room.

The sweet smell of vines and pine trees!

I quickly followed that smell to the farthest room. The door is a heavily painted black iron door with wolf decorative patterns.

I dared to open it, and the door was, thankfully, open. I'm curious why Chaste left his room without locking the door.

As I entered the room, the interior design greeted me with a dramatic, thrilling, and overall fit for a king. The black and white colour scheme works well in the room.

"He does live an extravagant life as the Alpha of this pack," I murmured as I approached the master king size bed in the centre. There is a window, and sunlight can fill the bedroom in the morning. The colour and brightness are almost perfect in every way.

I lay on the bed, and the softness and scent of my mate lulled me into a deep sleep.

…..

"What are you talking about, Matthew? Why are you preventing me from entering the house?! ”

I rolled onto the bed and placed a pillow over my ears to muffle the noise from downstairs.

"Are you concealing something?!" The way she shouted, the woman's thin voice almost pierced my eardrums. I could hear Matthew attempting to control her but failing miserably. I wonder what's happening downstairs.

"Arghhh!" I grumbled and threw the pillow somewhere before getting out of bed. How can I sleep any longer with this machine gun mouth downstairs?

I went to the bathroom to check my appearance in the mirror. I washed my face and looked back at my reflection.

"Geezz, my hair looks like a birds nest," I exclaimed as I pulled my hair into a high bun. My clothes were almost crumpled when I checked them. I turned around to check again and was dissatisfied. I exited the room and went to the closet I had discovered earlier to change my clothes.

I walked around the room, yawning profusely. The entire house seemed to be quite in a strange way, which made me wonder. Wasn't it just a minute ago that they were arguing?

I walked out the room still on the cloud nine and went in the living room. My gaze was drawn to the couch downstairs, where I discovered a girl sitting with wide eyes staring at me.

"Why are you being so loud, Matt? You're disturbing my sleep," I yawned again and began to walk down the stairs to meet them.

"Who exactly is she, Matt?" The girl can't stop herself from asking him a question. I raised my brows at her and entered the single couch between them.

"Why are you questioning me? I don't know her either," Matt grumbled, tired of being a victim of both me and this girl. That's unfortunate for Matthew.

"Why don't you confront her?" I hear him murmur in the air, which is quite loud, and we all hear it. The woman simply frowned and stared at me. She had the audacity to do that to me, huh?

"What is your name?" she inquired, raising her brows from her sitting position. She flipped her hair before turning around and staring at me from head to toe.

She exclaimed when realization hits her, covering her right palm in her lips. "Why are you dressed in a man's polo?" She demanded angrily, putting both hands in the curves of her waist.

"Is it against the law for a woman to wear a man's clothes?" I asked again, making her blush with rage.

"Is that... is that my mate's polo?!” She accused me angrily and spit blood of hatred at me.

"I don't believe so. I'm not sure because you haven't found your mate yet."

“Didnt you know I'm Caleigh Sanders? I am Alpha Chaste's mate!” she shouted angrily dashing into my side. She raised her right hand to punch me but I sidetracked causing her hand to pass me and her body was brought with her. "Oopss", I teased her.

She gritted her teeth and face her back at me. I heard her murmur strange words making me worry a bit.

"She's a witch." those words… she's a witch, I realized to myself. I have to be cautious around this girl.

I run behind Matthew, who is more stressed right now. It won't hurt my pride to use him as a shield against this crazy girl.

“Matthew! Tell the Alpha that there's a crazy witch in his house who is attempting to harm me." I pouted, on the verge of crying.

"Get off me," Matthew irritably pushed me away from his back, but I purposefully grabbed his shirt from his back to keep it from being thrown away.

Caleigh appeared to be returning to her senses, taking long, deep breaths and looking at us with a fixed expression.

"How come you let her in?" " She inquired, her brow furrowed.

Matthew took a serious look at her, making eye contact with her, while I stood behind him, watching them exchange glances.

"Alpha let her." He spits out.

I'm expecting it to hear, but hearing those words makes my heart race faster. I know Chaste was informed the moment Mathew noticed me outside. They just pretended he didn't know who I was so they could observe and test me. Ha! They couldn't get past me.

"This is insane," she exclaimed, stomping her feet. "I wasn't allowed to pay him visits here, so I'm invading his home, but how come this... this..." she scowled at me from head to toe. "How is she able to live here?! " She complained like a spoiled brat.

"Because I'm his mate," I stated flatly, approaching the sofa and slumping myself.

"And I'm pregnant," I admitted confidently as they stared at me with bulging eyes.

"I am carrying your Alpha's next bloodline." I bragged.

"My next bloodline, huh?" said a voice from the door.

“Alpha Chaste” Caleigh and Matthew bowed.

My eyes almost popped out of its sockets from surprise. Wrong move! Wrong words! Wrong timing!

One thing I am sure right now. I am doomed.
