Charles Effort

Charles and Athalia were walking down the road to town. She couldn't help but think of Luke. What is he doing now? She could see the pain and jealousy in his eyes earlier because Charles and she are now together. But why? Shouldn't he be happy for her? But why does that seem the opposite? Because he makes her feel special when she's with him. She stopped thinking when the car suddenly stopped on the side of the road. She looked at Charles who was staring intently at her.

"Why did you stop?" she asked him. He took a deep breath while staring at her.

"I've been calling you, Ath. But you're not answering. Is there a problem?" he asked.

She felt the pain in his voice, even the change in his expression that showed sadness. Who wouldn't be hurt and sad? If your date's mind was occupied with something or someone? She can't help but felt guilty.

"Nothing. I just thought of something. Sorry, Charles." she said and bowed her head to hide the embarrassment she felt.

"Are you thinking of Luke?"
