Chapter Three

Radulf's POV

Fighting these leeches is what I do and most times, I enjoy it.

Cutting off two heads and removing the heart of my next victim, I scanned the area for any sign of more vamps. Counting them, it remained ten to go.

I've always made it my mission to make the killing of leeches as quick as I can because the longer I fought; the more likely I was to go into a rage which I can feel right now even as I fight.

A vampire screeched as the rest were racing towards me, aiming for my neck. With a repugnance far older than their age put together, I raced harder towards them. On reaching the first vamp of the group, I thrust my claws into his sockets, removing his eyeballs, using my right claws, I offed his head but hadn't had time to watch it roll off his body to the ground because just when I was supposed to be battling, I got distracted by the faint scent of the female I just met - as it's sweet aura drifted towards me.

As I searched for her telepathically, I found her attempting to fight my command.

Amazed!!!

That is unusual. Even Alpha's don't have the power to fight my hold on them. Re-enforcing my command to her, I felt her obey, moving away from the fight scene. This is the first time I'm experiencing a wolf attempting to fight my command, alarmingly a female. Her little attempt at fighting my telepathic hold brought out a sense of pride from my wolf - who hardly appreciates anyone.

The distraction allowed one of the leeches to grab me from the back and sank his filthy fangs into me, which led to excruciating pain.

"No leech dares drink from me," I growled, 'especially not one I was fighting'

Using my claws, I stabbed him and heard the faint satisfying crack that his skull made and smiled. Pulling my hands free, removing his head along, his brains scattered over the fighting ground, and from the scent of his blood, this vamp hadn't fed well before battle.

After that distraction, I focused on the remaining vamps. Taking them one after the other, I pulled their head and heart off. As I reached the second to the last vamp, I heard the sound of a gunshot before feeling its impact.

I'd been shot in the chest with a poisonous Wolfbane, a poison strong enough to kill a weak werewolf, not me. The shot had made it a few inches away from my heart, but before falling, I moved at a blinding speed, killing the shooter and the two remaining vamps. After I was sure I'd kill all the vamps that came as my first attack in the south, I searched for the plain ground to rest and extract the wolf bane from my system.

I needed to make a fast shift to push out the poisoned bullet before it starts messing with my head. Thanks to the ancient runes I got some centuries ago from a Fey king who was indebted to me, I was able to heal faster than any Wolf. If it was a simple bullet, it would have healed itself immediately without the aid of shifting.

Before I could shift, I felt her before I saw her, I smiled...

'This must be one hell of an incredibly strong female, disobeying my order twice in a row I growled in approval.

Running towards me, she got on her knees before my bent form, ready to shift.

"Wolfbane, Oh the gods, you've been poisoned. You shouldn't have sent me away; we would have fought them side by side."

'Yeah, right I thought, rolling my eyes.

"How are we going to get help, the bane has to be pumped out of you immediately, this part of the woods is far from the base" she panicked but I was distracted by her sonorous voice and intoxicating scent to notice the pain in my chest. For once, someone is treating me like a fellow wolf instead of the special treatment of a Lord Alpha. Pretending and delaying the healing of the wolfbane wound, I watched her sincere concern as she worried all over me.

She placed her hand on the spot where I was shot. Her hands were small, smooth, and soft and her first touch on me was like a shock to my system. A strong charge of electricity that cannot be ignored emitted right out of her to my chest. The vibration and charge almost had me pushing away her contact on my chest.

"What are you doing?" I shouted at her, confused as to what she was up to.

"Trying to heal you of course. I'm sorry if I'm a little bit rusty at this. No one in my clan knows of this ability, not even my Alpha. I've only tried this ability on my animal friends who had little or severe injuries. I don't know if it will work, but I should try it at least. Please don't move, the bane is too close to your heart."

Getting more fascinated by this female, I humored her to try whatever magic she thinks she was capable of. Though the delay in my healing process was causing me severe pain, I'd rather feel that than let her know I'm not an ordinary wolf.

Without warning, I felt her presence in me. The feeling was strange but surprisingly good, even my wolf agreed with me. Whatever sorcery this female is performing is one I have not heard of.

As her presence was moving towards the area where I was shot, I groaned at the severe pain of mending flesh. Looking up at her worried face, I saw the panic in her eyes. No one has ever worried about me, nor had they spared time to take care of me. Everyone assumed being the Lord Alpha meant having it all.

"The pain must be excruciating, please don't try to fight the healing process, I plan to help with the pain soon"

Then with a strong compulsion holding me in place, she persuaded "Sleep wolf." the command rendered me helpless. No wolf should have this persuasion over me.

I tried fighting her command, but her hold on me was stronger than I expected, and just like that, I went into a deep sleep in the hands of a stranger I know nothing about, who could easily submit me to the long list of enemies I've made over the centuries.
