Chapter 76

(The Last Date)

Two weeks later

“Where are you taking me to?” Ariel asked Aiden as they drove along the highway. They are through with their exams, and Aiden decided to fulfill the last surprise he has for her. They had been going on some friendly dates with Mia, Jack, Axel and Jeffery, the guy that took the third runner up in the contest.

 The exam had been damn hectic and they just had to chill out together before going back to their various vacations. Ariel on the other hand will be going with Axel for a live concert the next day, so today is just the last free day she has to spend with Aiden before she leaves.

“Just be patient, we will get there soon” he assured her. She seems excited to see what he has for her this time. She will just have to be patient like he had said.

The journey didn’t last long as they arrive their destination. They got down from the car, as Ariel stare around in amazement. They are currently in the outskirt of the town, a hill side to be precise. This will be the first time she is leaving Cape Town after coming down here from her country.

The place held lots of beauty as the trees standing around gave it an alluring sight. She could see flowers hanging around as beautiful butterflies fly about in the meadow. She could see herself grinning with glee as they walk to where he had set up a camp. Her stomach rumbles at the sight of the mouth watering snacks set in the basket. Two bowls of ice-cream were placed just close to the basket, a bottle of wine and some fruits also lay in the basket.

“Are we both gonna finish all these” She thought. No wonder he had asked her not to take lunch before coming. Well, it’s mid-day already, and it won’t be too long before the sun sets

“So…do you like it here” he asked her after they had settled down

“Like you mean? I love it” She screamed in happiness as he chuckled

“I know you will” She sighed and stared intently at him. He gave her a questioning look

“Why are you doing this” She asked with a serious face. He shrugged

“I just want you to be happy…that’s what friends do right, help each other and make others happy” he smiled

“I wish I can repay you in a better way, you just don’t know how happy I am to meet someone like you. You have been a great help to me in my career, my school and everything. When I came here to this part of the world, I never had it mind that things will work out fast for me, I never even thought of fulfilling my dreams, because I got to find out that I was sold to become a runs girl and that alone made me lose hope in everything.

After running away from the hotel that night, I had one thing in mind, and that is to work anywhere I can, as long as it’s not illegal and it’s where I can rest my head, have shelter to cover me. But all those turn out to be a better wish; I found myself in an amazing place and met an amazing person. You are a God sent to me, thanks so much Aiden..thank you” She ended her speech with tears in her eyes.

He pulled her closer to himself as he embraces her. She sniffed in and accepted the hug while he pats her back

“It’s ok Ariel, you are very much welcome…there is actually no way you can pay me back,,,” he paused like he was re-thinking his statement

“Erm…well, except one way…” he muttered. She breaks the hug and stared at him

“H..how? She asked. He sighed, contemplating on whether he should tell her now or later. He later went for the former. He squeezed her hands softly and looked into her eyes

“Be my girlfriend Ariel” He muttered, still locking eyes with her. She felt her hear skip a beat on hearing that. She supposes to be feeling joy and eagerness to say yes, but her lips ain’t moving. She was just staring at him like he had said something strange that she hadn’t heard before.

She wasn’t feeling the vibe to reply and it got her thinking, why is she feeing this way. She has always imagined being in love with someone she loves too, but why is she not giving him any reply. She really wants to pay him back, but is this what she wants?

“Erm..Ariel” Aiden called after the long silence as she jerked up

“Huhnn”

“You zoned out” he stated

“Oh…I’m sorry..i mean…erm…i..just..don’t know…what..to say” she shuttered biting her lips. He smiled and caresses her hair

“You don’t need to give me a reply now, I know I took you off balance…but..i will wait till..you..erm, are ready to tell me your mind, okay”

She nodded with a brief smile. She knew she had just made him sad by not giving him an immediate reply; he is only concealing it with a smile. She will try to make up for it before the end of the date.

“Ok…so let’s enjoy why we are here, our snacks are getting cold..and the ice-cream…”

“Damn, the ice-cream..I love ice-creams, let’s start with that” She smiled. He chuckled

“Your choice, but I will prefer the snacks first; you won’t wanna eat it cold”

“Ouch..sure…you brought pies, cupcakes…wow..oh my gawd, this hotdog is huge” She gasp as he laughs at her expression

“If you keep on making those funny remarks we will spend the whole day laughing and the food won’t be eaten”

“Sure, my mouth is sealed, let’s eat” she muttered, picking up a pie as she shove it into her mouth

“Oh,,,,this is heavenly..i haven’t eaten pies in a while, but  I prefer cupcakes”

“Really…” he asked

“Yes, it’s my favourite”

“I love hotdogs, Axel prefer pies…”

“Really?”

“Yes…”

They finished their snacks and went for the wine, taking few cups of it. Ariel also went for some fruits, eating a whole lot of it. They later settled down for the ice-cream, enjoying its awesome flavor.

“Look at that…did you see that” Ariel asked pointing towards the sky. After they finished their ice-cream, they decided to play a few games. Catching butterflies, running after some pretty white rabbits which decided to disrupt their date. Singing and dancing along with the rhythm of the beat they produce with their mouths, and lastly relaxing to view the wonderful creations of God. They watch the city up from the hill and saw how glorious its sight is.

It was late already as the stars where already in the sky. Ariel and Aiden lay side by side, watching the stars as they tried to make a drawing in the sky by matching the stars together.

“What did you see” Aiden asked her

“I saw a falling star…you didn’t see it?”

“No…perhaps because I was busy looking for what to create out of the stars” he pouted as she chuckled

“I wished I had seen it though, I would have made a wish…did you make a wish?”

“Opss…no..it went really fast that I couldn’t even think of anything…ahaah” She laughs as he chuckles along

“I will make one when another passes by”

“I have gotten another picture…look up here…can you see those three stars over there” she pointed as Aiden squinted

“Oh yea…the ones close to the moon”

“Yes…they are the three musketeers”

“Seriously….”

“Yes…and that over there…i want you to look closely. Just after the three musketeers…look to your left, that’s the picture of a swan.”She giggled

“Yea..I can see that” he nodded

“There is a story behind it though…”

“Really” he asked, with his brows furrowed

“Yes…the swan princess”

“Swan princess? That’s funny”

“Yea…..she got cursed by a wicked witch and perhaps changes to a swan by sunset and changes back to her normal human form by sunrise…”

“Oh…that’s bad” Aiden chuckled. She jabs him in the shoulder laughing along

“That isn’t a real story….I can’t believe someone will ever change to a swan, it’s mystic” Aiden cooed

“It’s not my fault, I watch lots of Barbie collections” She shrugged

“Then complete the story..i’m listening” He cleared his throat

“Erm….yea..she later got to break the curse, and erm..got married to a prince I think….well..puff…I think I’m saying something else, I can’t really remember the story any longer. It’s being a while I watched that movie. By the time she was done talking, Aiden was already laughing hard, she was twisting the story

“You really suck at telling stories” he tickles her side rib. She laughs pushing him away

“No I don’t, trust me..I’m a good story teller” She giggled

“Ok..ok..I will really like to hear one someday, especially that of your continent. Africa is indeed having a very interesting culture. Will you tell me about your country later?”

“Sure…I will gladly do so” she grinned

“I wish we could still spend more time together, but it’s late now” He pouted

“Yes….it is…”

“Come on…we need to get going. You need to sleep early so that you won’t start sleeping during your flight tomorrow?” he winked

“Sure..haaha” She laughed

“What about the tent and all these, are we leaving them here?”

“The maids and servants will take care of it”

“Uhnn, are they around” She asked staring around. He smiled

“They are not really far from here; they will come and clear it up after we leave”

“Ok”

They went back into the car as he drove off into the highway, taking a U-turn to the direction that leads to her house. The ride was a bit silent as none of them spoke a word. Ariel was busy filling her eyes with the sparkling sight of the night. People were still up, moving about their daily activities, the crowd only died down when he drove into the estate. Most celebrities, live in a reserve area where people would bother them less.

He parked the car in front of the gate as she had asked him to, turning off the ignition.

She heaved a sigh and faced him with a smile. He rested his head on the car head rest and winked at her. She bit her lips nothing knowing how to make her request.

“Gosh…this is so hard to ask…or should just give it to him instead” She thought. Though she couldn’t give him a reply on becoming his girlfriend, which she would have to think about first, and perhaps ask Mia for an advice, but she still needs to appreciate him for this date. He made her feel good, she hasn’t felt this surge of happiness for a long time, and giving him just a hug might not be enough. She will just do what’s in her mind and get away with it.

“Erm…i…er..thanks again for the date…it’s…”

“You have said that a thousand times Ariel…you are welcome” he noted. She nodded still not getting out of the car. He was beginning to think she still has something to tell him, with the way she was fidgeting with her fingers

“Or is there something else you wanna talk about?” he asked softly. She gave a loud sigh, losing the seat belt as she brought her face closer to him.

“I don’t have any more thing to say..but I think I need to do this” and with that, she placed her lips on his, taking him on aware. He froze at first before relaxing his tensed shoulders, going along with the rhythm of the k**s. It was slowly, steady and soft, no doubt, she is still struggling to become a good k**ser.

He pulled her closer to himself, taking full control of her lips. He sucked on it as she gave him entrance to have his way. This is not the first time he is k**sing her, but right now, he felt like not stopping. If felt like this will be the last time he will have this with her, and really wanna enjoy every bit of it.

He wished she could just accept to his proposal and make her his forever, but he wants her to make her choice. All he knows is that he had done enough to win her heart, and if she doesn’t choose him, then it might break him down for a long time, if not forever.

She broke the k**s and returned her gaze to the floor. She suddenly felt shy after doing this, but it felt good. He smiled knowing how she feels

“Thanks for k**s” he winked. She blushed and lifts herself off his body.

“I will take my leave now” She muttered

“Ok…goodnight”

“Goodnight”

She left the car and went in. The security men in charge of the gate; welcomed her. She gave one last look at Aiden before going in. 

“Gosh she just succeeded in turning me on, I can’t believe I will have to deal with this monster tonight” Aiden groan before igniting the engine back to life as he zooms off.

Watching the car from behind are four prickly eyes; the two guys sat in a car far behind. They had seen Aiden parked the car in front of Ariel’s house and how she got out.

“We could have just nabbed her when she was alone with him, now she is back to the house, and it’s still heavily guarded” the lanky man sitting in the front seat muttered in grimace

“Fool….”

“What did you just call me?” he scoffs

“You heard me…I’m trying to concentrate here and you are making things hard for me. Aiden is not foolish enough to have gone on a date alone in that hill side. He went with his guards but they stood far away.

Perhaps he doesn’t want the girl to feel insecure seeing the guard watch them as they play around. But trust me; the guards knew every single thing that went on, on that hill. They were alert, and we going there to capture her will only lead us to their traps. Sometimes you need to use your senses. These celebrities are beyond wise.” Frank muttered still observing the environment from the car windscreen

“That’s bad..can’t they go a single place without their guards..huff…”

“Being popular brings danger….you know that. We need to leave here before these security men starts suspecting us. I have gotten enough clues on this environment” Frank noted as the lanky man shrug. He turned on the car engine and drove off.
