Everleigh

Everleigh POV

One year later.

One year passed and still I can't forget the man who help me escaped that sucking prison.

But also one year passed, when I heard the news of Jackson, my soon to be husband was freaking cheated on me!

Good thing I didn't gave him my virginity! The hell he is!

I closed the my shower and put on my robe. Dad want me to look presentable when his the body guard he hired arrived.

The hell! I have tons of body guards!

Going to clubs with body guards, sucks!

But ever since the tragedies happened, many people says I changed. Hell I care. Who won't if you got kidnapped, you got your beloved boyfriend cheated on you?! My Dad almost got heart attack for worrying about me. I can't lose Dad, Mom is already in heaven. I'm not yet ready to be alone.

The fact that I don't have any siblings definitely makes me so bored here at our house. Dad isn't always here, he's so busy.

As soon as I went out of the bathroom, I heard a knock.

"Yes?"

"Ms. Scott, the car is ready. Should I call you Dad you are leaving?"

"No!" I shouted. "Don't tell him! He will scold me for sure."

"Yes, Ms. Scott."

I finished my skin care routine. I didn't my hair, it is naturally beautiful with its a bit wavy, brown color. I let it hanging. I put a light make up on. I wore a white crop top and black ripped jeans. I have long legs so it fits perfectly.

I grab my pink shoulder bag, and off I go.

I went downstairs where our maids and body guards lined up. It sucks whenever they do that. I felt a heated thing in my chest that makes me want to smack them off. They only crowding our house; they are guarding but I don't feel safe at all. I hate their presence. I feel like I'll another horror of my life, again.

I walk to garage. One guard opened the car. I secretly rolled my eyes in annoyance.

I entered the car. "Take me to my favorite place," I said to my driver.

He's only five months. He is old but never fails on driving. He drives racer cars before—written in his resume.

Though he knows I hated him, still he cares for me like I'm his only granddaughter. He is alone in life. His wife passed away, and his only son had his own family; never had a closure with their old arguments.

I took a glance at him. Usually, this old man would talk about his day and will bombard me with questions.

"D-Don't try to go inside the cafe, okay?" I said, trying to start a conversation with him.

He smiled and nodded.

This is odd! Why isn't he asking me tons of questions and nags about my attitude.

We arrived at my favorite cafe. I always come here for past time. Except from their famous snacks and delicacies, I love their mini library. Books where I find peace.

My driver stopped and got out of the car to open up the door beside me. When he open up, I carefully got out. I noticed a difference between his cheerful eyes.

I was about to walk to the door, but then I stopped and faced him.

"Hey, old man. Come with me."

"Ma'am?"

I rolled my eyes, he doesn't call me ma'am, he calls me by my name.

"If you have a problem, talk to me, inside," I said, before entering the cafe. I heard him closing the car, and followed me.

I found a spot where there is no a lot of people. I ordered a Chocolate Ice Cream, and a bread with cheese for him. I only asked for service water with ice.

"Tell me, spill." I crossed my arms and stare at him with an arched eyebrow.

He sighed. There it is, something is bothering him.

He looked away. "Your... Your father already hired someone who'll be your personal guard. And I'm afraid he said you won't need me, so I need to resign."

My forehead creased. "What?!" my voice raised, making people looked at me.

"Everleigh, lower your voice—"

"Well, I won't let that happen! You'll still be my driver!"

"Everleigh—"

"I'll talk to that old brat, don't worry. I'll rather smack that new recruit! Besides, I don't need them, I have tons guarding me!"

I didn't mind people gawking at me. They must have the news about me and my crazy attitude, yeah. Articles about that spread all over, I even gone to psychologist for advices.

They concluded that is a ripple effect of what happened to me from the very young age. I saw with my two eyes how Mom being shot by a gun of a motorcycle riders. Our name definitely bangs the terrorist and criminals ears, our surname shout for money. Father will definitely catch every single one of them.

Yes, yes, Dad puts a lot of money and help the criminal justices. He was a former prosecutor.

But he is competitive enough to start a business of wine, eventually became clothes. Mom suggested a beauty products. Fast food chains, and a lot more!

All of them will be mine someday.

Our order arrived. The waitress placed it with gentle. As soon as she finished, she walks away.

I grab the spoon. "This is pissing me off!" I fork a piece of my Chocolate ice cream.

"It's fine—"

"No it's not!" Ice cream in my mouth almost blew out. I don't even now if he manage to understand my statement.

He sighed. "Don't talk when your mouth is full. How many time do I have to tell you?"

I smirked secretly. Now, I think his mood cheered up. He started nagging.

"Yeah," I answered.

After eating at the cafe, we drove home. My father called him and said we need to face his new hired personal body guard of mine, waiting at his office.

"Argh! I'm tired of this guards!"

"Everleigh, it's just your father is so worried about you. Just understand."

I pouted.

"You are college graduating, your father wanted to keep you safe always," the old man said.

I crossed my arms, before looking at the car's window. "But I feel suffocated..." I said, almost a whisper. "I feel like I'll be in danger any minute... I don't feel safe...."

The stopped in front of our house. I removed my seatbelt.

"Do you still get attacks at night?"

I nodded. "Yeah, whenever I dreamed of Mom."

We got out of the car.

Dad's office was at the second floor of our huge house. He sometimes works there of he doesn't need to travel overseas for business purposes.

Oh, I forgot! The thing that I admire the most is whenever Dad give free business starter pack to those who ask for his help. He doesn't do second thoughts.

I knocked three time before entering the office. There was Dad checking papers with his glasses on. I notice a man sitting in a chair in front of him. He is wearing a plain v-neck black shirt and denim pants, partnered with white shoes.

He got looks for a personal body guard.

Dad lift up his head and looked at me.

"Eve, come sit down," Dad said with a smile on his face.

I sat down at an opposite chair with the new recruit, while old stands behind me.

"So," Dad clasped his hands, "this is Raven Aaron, he will be your personal body guard. Surprisingly, he is three years older than you Eve, I thought you two are the same age."

I looked at the man from head to foot. He doesn't quite smiles, he has this emotionless face.

"But, anyway—"

"I don't need him." I immediately respond.

"Everleigh," the old man said with stern voice.

I turned to him. "What?!" I turned to Dad. "Dad, don't let this old man got out of this house. Just let the other guards outside, or the maids, but not this old man!"

Dad removed his eyeglass and put on the table. "Okay, okay. He will not leave. Decision is made, but Raven will still be your personal guard. That should do it."

I smiled. "Okay,"

"That's a fast deal," the new man said.

I arched my brow to him. "Shut up!"

"By the way, This Raven, he didn't graduate college, he end up dropping at fourth year due to personal issues. He was forced to work, so here he applied. He is a smart student, he knows martials since it his sports since elementary. I'm sure he'll be a better guard personally. Eve, you will not go anywhere without him. School, cafe, bar, he will keep tailing you. Mr. Hunderson will still be here, I'll give him other works. That's the deal."

My ears felt itchy with what I heard. I left my mouth open but nothing words came out. Dad place a paper at the Raven's and handled a pen, then signed.

What the f*ck!

Now I'll be more suffocated!

~~

"Stay here!" I shouted with all my might.

I went to the bar alone, I put all my efforts to sneak with speed just to be here, ALONE. But I was so surprised seeing him waiting for me at the entrance of the bar!

How did he came here that fast?!

He is leaning on the wall with hands on his pocket.

He looks he's waiting for his girl inside the bar—wait what?!

"I signed an agreement with your father, so I need to do my duty."

I crossed my arms. "Doesn't it bother you?! You're tailing me like a stalker or... or... or a dog!"

My eyes captured some other girls who are entering and going out of the bar; took glances at Raven. He still wearing his v-neck plain black shirt and denim pants, but still he stands out with his simple dress. His messy hair made his facial features exclaims perfectness.

He walked towards me, inching our gap. "I'm just doing my duty," he is slightly bowed to me because he is so tall.

"Then your duty is suffocating me," I said, fighting his dark stares. "Let me be alone this once, I order you to."

"You can't,"

I was a bit stunned with his eyes, I think I saw them before. I just don't remember where. Those pair of expressive eyes; with curiosity, I slowly raised my hand and tries to touch his face, suddenly, he walks away towards the entrance.

He leaned again on the wall. "Don't get too distracted with my handsome face."

What the hell?!

I felt my blood boiling; seems like smokes coming out from my nose with this heated feeling in my chest.

I'm so pissed with this life!

I walk towards the entrance. I pointed my finger to him while walking. "Just don't get too near on me!"

Loud beats of lively music enters my system. This Bar isn't just a normal bar, I'll turn into something amazing.

I ran toward the backstage. There, I saw my friend DJ Rick with Perry talking.

"Hey!"

They turned their heads on me. I waved my hands and ran towards them.

"Yo! You're so early tonight!" Rick offered me a hive five, I reached it.

Perry and I fist bump.

Rick is with his black cap and rimmed black glasses. Perry is in his brush up hair, exposing clearly his white face and jawline.

"Are they all ready?" I asked. "I'm so excited! I bet the dancers are all shriveled with excitement and nervousness,"

"We still have 30 mins to get the stage lively for competitive dancers," Perry said. "They are all warming up,"

"That's great! I'll just change my clothes."

"Don't forget for mask!" Rick reminded me.

Before I enter the room, I glance at Raven who is roaming his eyes around the bar. I saw him tapping his finger synchronizing with the beat of the music.

He is handsome, but not totally my ideal man!

I sighed.

I wish Jackson will not come here tonight.
