ZARA

The ball, that is all the maids speak about these days. To me, it is wack and a very useless idea. I still wonder why the unofficial king of Lycans would set this useless competition up to find a Luna, it was pointless.

"Zara, where is the salt?" I hear willow say from where she stood, the salt was next to her, was her short-sightedness that bad?

"It's in the blue jar, willow," I say softly, flipping through the pages of the romance novel which I held in my arm firmly.

"Can you please drop that book and help me out!" I could tell she was trying so hard to control how frustrated she was, but, it was vivid on her creased forehead, that she wanted to cry.

"Okay," I say, I closed the book which I was reading and walked over to her.

"What do you want my help with?" I asked calmly. She heaved softly, and then pointed at the dough, she was trying very hard to bake bread.

I mocked at the sight before me, "You are failing miserably at this"

"Very funny" she rolled her eyes.

"Would you look at that, it's time for Alpha Helen's bath!" I said, once my eyes had glanced at the wristwatch on my left arm.

"Can't she just bathe herself for once?" Willow stated. I rolled my eyes, being frustrated was getting to her head.

"She's an Alpha, we are her maids, it's our job to run her a bath" I stated the obvious.

"I know, I just needed your help. But don't worry, head to the Alpha now, before she rings that irritating alarm of hers." Willow says in disgust. The Alpha's daughter had never been her favorite person. sincerely, I do not like her as well, most of us don't. Sometimes, I think it is maybe because of the rank she has, I imagined I was jealous of her status, but I was wrong, the Alpha's daughter was mean and very ruthless. It was as if she had a great hatred for Omegas, we seem to disgust her at times.

Regardless, I still found myself standing before her room, ready to knock on the door, which I did anyway. "Come in!" She says from inside, she seemed to be in a jolly mood today. I'm sure it had something to do with the ball and meeting the young unofficial king of Werewolves.

I took in a deep breath and pushed her door open. "Alpha Helen," I bowed my head in respect. "May I set up your bath?" I asked.

"I've already bathed myself today," She said, I resisted to urge to open my mouth in shock. She bathed herself, that has not happened for over 3 years. She must be really happy.

"Okay Alpha Helen, is there anything you may need my help with?" I asked.

"No, you may leave." She said very briefly and then settled her attention back on her phone.

Heaving softly, I turned around to leave. Today, I might just get to bed early after all.

"Wait..." She had said, I stopped at my pace and turned to face her once again.

"What is your name?" This is the hundredth time she has asked for my name. But then, as an Alpha, I guess she has many things to do than remember a maid's name.

"Zara," I said very softly.

"Zara, okay. You'll be coming with me to the King's castle tomorrow, I want you to be my maid for the day." She said, my heart sank to my stomach, I do not want to be a part of this ball craze at all. I do not want to ever meet the unofficial king of Lycans.

"Alpha Helen, I can ask willow to come with you, I do not think I will be able to cope with it," I said calmly, making sure not to sound disrespectful.

"I've seen you work, you are very dedicated to it. It is you I have chosen to accompany me, so get ready by tomorrow." She said. I sighed defeatedly.

"Okay Alpha Helen, Is there any more thing I can do for you?" I asked respectfully.

"No, you many leave. Make sure you are at the parking lot by 6 am tomorrow, we are going there by road." She said sternly, I nodded.

After knowing that she had nothing more to say, I walked out of her room.

I didn't like the idea of attending the ball, it was useless to me and I only wanted to be confined to my room and read crazy romance novels.

"You are back so early!" Willow said the moment she saw me walk into the kitchen.

"Yeah, she bathed herself today," I announced.

"Wow, that's a new one." She said.

"She seems to be in a good mood today," I said. "And also, she's forcefully making me attend the ball along with her."

Willow's mouth went agape, "You mean you are going to the ball?" Willow asked, shocked.

"Yeah, unfortunately!" I sighed frustratedly.

"That's so good, I'm so happy for you. I hope you find your mate in the big city!" She said happily.

"I hope I find him as well, I'm tired of serving the Alphas," I said. It wasn't fair that we omegas weren’t allowed to do more important works, we only get to serve the Alphas and clean up their dirts.

"Hopefully, I pray he's a gamma or a delta, or better, I pray he's the Alpha King," Willow said dreamily.

"The Alpha King?" I laughed, "I'm certain I'll never get a hunk like him, and I most certainly don’t want him either." I said. Willow laughed as well.

"Well, it's a mate hunt. I wonder why he only invited Alpha's, does he think his mate cannot be an omega?" Willow asked.

"Maybe he hates omega's, all Alpha blood hate omegas," I said while rinsing the ditches that laid in the sink.

"Bad for them, they are missing out on pretty ladies like us," Willow said and I chuckled.

We continued chit-chatting until we decided to get ready for bed. The night was cool and the howls of wolves made the night more adventurous as we slept.
