It was late at night when Selena regained her consciousness. Her eyes slowly lifted open. Her head rested against the cold door of the van she had slumped against. She took short shallow breaths remembering what had happened. The giant black wolf had attacked her, heckling and shouting at her before biting into her shoulder and slashing her chest. She remembered how she had found her way behind the car while it had been hunting her, then everything had gone black.

Exhausted and accustomed to the procedure, she slowly brought her right arm around and felt the bite marks around her shoulder. Nothing was there, rather something that wasn’t supposed to be there was present. She used her fingers to navigate the area, feeling and attempting to figure out the foreign object there before realizing it was a piece of cloth.
