Chapter Four

LILY

A sharp clanging sound woke me up from my slumber. My body felt like it had been infused with lead, even moving my eyes was a big task as a sharp pain lanced through my head as I moved my eyes.

I could feel a dull throb in my head and slowly the events that brought me to this state filtered into my head. I had been trying to escape from my pack and my boyfriend Lee after I found him with my step sister, only to be intercepted by a bunch of rogues.

The clanging sound drilled again into my thoughts, and I was forced to look in front of me. Ahead of me I could just make out a black metal door that had been barred towards the top.

From the spaces created by the rods I could see the figure of a woman behind the metal door placing what looked like a set of keys into a keyhole. A little clicking sound and the metal door swung open as she stepped inside.

I could immediately tell she was an enforcer by her scent. Enforcers gave off different scents from normal werewolves. She walked right up to me and for a second and from her posture I thought she was going to help me up.

Suddenly, without warning, she kicked me and a stabbing pain shot through me as I groaned aloud.

“Wake up girl.”

I clutched the area of my stomach where I had been hit and looked at the woman in front of me.

“I’m awake,” I said with difficulty, trying to sit up from my position.

But the woman pressed her foot down on me, “Good, now tell me, are you the daughter of Alpha Bobby?”

I was instantly on guard, why would she be asking me such a question?

“Why? “I asked but then regretted my question as soon as they left my lips. Now she must have figured out my identity because if I’m not Alpha Bobby’s daughter I would act more confused.

What’s worse, I had been calling Casey in my mind but my wolf wasn’t responding. I judged there must have been something that had slipped into the tranquilliser that had hit me earlier.

“Oh I was so lucky to catch you so easily. You will be a good hostage, Daughter of Bobby.” The woman crouched down and pulled my hair to force me look straight into her cold eyes, she put on a bloodthirsty smile, and the scar on her face running from her left ear to her cheek was horrifying.

“Does the scar surprise you? “She seemed to have sensed my fear and asked with a wired joyness.

I looked away, thinking this woman must be a total lunatic.

“Your father did this to me! Finally today he is going to get what is coming to him. Our Alpha is going to make sure he wipes out your wretched pack into smithereens.” She leaned closer to me and suddenly punched me so hard that my whole face felt like burning. I could sense my eyes watering at the impact.

After a clanging noise, the door was opened behind the scarface woman. Her body went rigid, and she instantly stood up and let go of me.

My gaze to the man who had just entered was obscure because of the tears, but I could still spot the similar scar running across his face.

“Tie her up, we don’t have time to lose,” The new man commanded, “the Alpha demands her presence.”

I could scent the blood even before we got within the borders of the pack. My hands had been tied and whatever it was that had been put into the tranquilliser that had hit me earlier was still preventing me from shifting. As the rogues had taken me back to the pack my heart had been in my stomach for half the journey, I was genuinely worried about what must have happened to my pack members.

As we got closer and closer the scent of blood in the air seemed to have gotten as thick as fog. Dread clung to me like a second skin, and I struggled to keep myself under control. Just as we entered the pack grounds the sight that greeted my eyes made my blood run cold.

Half of the pack’s houses had been destroyed, reduced to a mass of wood and concrete. Dozens of Rogues scattered all over the pack, tying up those injured pack warriors. My people were crying for help everywhere, the omegas and puppies were crowded together, all tied up. With the light of fires, I hardly recognized Jordan’s face on a damaged body.

I howled at this sight, anger filling me very quickly. I struggled at the restraints that held me, feeling some of my strength return and before I could make any move, the scarface woman’s hand dug into my hair stopping me from moving. Her strong handles dragged me tidely to the destination, the pack house.

In the centre of the pack house, there’s my father’s wolf and beside him Lee's wolf, guarded by several warriors. They were surrounded by the Rogues. My father was furious but as he stood there his wolf snarling at them, the Rogues remained unmoved. I could see that Lee was injured, blood dripping from his brown fur from a claw wound.

I quickly figured out the current situation: The two sides have reached an impasse.

The Rogue’s attack went on quickly only because  they picked the right time. Many warriors were sent to escort the guests after the party. So regardless of the pack’s heavy damage, as long as the warriors came back before the rogues win, the pack would be saved.

That's why the Rogues tried to use me as a hostage to get my father to surrender. But what they didn't know was that my father didn’t love me, he would never agree to the rogue Alphas terms.

I must save myself before they give up on me! I would rather die fighting than being wasted as a useless hostage.

“Free me,” I growled, feeling a rush of adrenaline go up my body and my wolf finally responded.

Before the scarface woman could make a move, I tore my restraints and was already sprinting towards my father and Lee. My pack’s being intruded, I needed to help them anyway that I could.

Even though they had treated me with scorn and nothing less than garbage they were still my pack, and the Alpha was still my father. He might have no love for me but I knew that dying at the hands of a rogue was unacceptable to anyone and I wouldn’t wish that on even my worst enemy.

Suddenly I slammed into something with full force that sent me reeling backwards, before I could fall, I was grabbed by whatever had hit me and when I looked up I was staring into the red glowing eyes of a muscular Rogue.

The figure in front of me was shirtless, the well defined abs on his stomach looking rock like as they balanced on his midsection. I watched the rise and fall of his massive chest as he breathed heavily, his hands curled into fists by his side. Jet balck hair surrounded his face but didn't hide the jaw definition or the fact that he was baring his fangs at me.
