Kayla POV.

I am wary, sitting beside this new Alpha.

I can feel the pull inside me.

I know what he wants.

I want it too.

But I resist.

It’s not like how it was with Tanner.

It does not feel the same.

It is not certain.

My feelings are not clear.

I do not like how he talks to me.

Tanner was soft. He encouraged me.

Shane likes to goad. I do not like it.

But he also compliments me.

He is not shy about his feelings.

He is uncomplicated.

He wants the challenge of me.

"The meat is good," I tell him.

"We have ibex on the mountains. We eat to our hearts content. Your women will be happy here. Look, they are already starting to pair up."

I look up. He is right.

My pack are showing signs of wanting to mate with his. They circle one another. Sniff one another. Dance.

The air is charged with lust.

I feel it too.

But I am resitant.

I look at Shane.

This is the wolf Tanner led me to.
