MIA

“Welcome to BloodMoon Pack, Luna!”

Those words threw me off and caused me to cringe back.

My heart hammered in my chest as I darted my eyes towards the men who surrounded her and found their piercing, mocking gazes on me.

Silence mixed with confusion, hatred, and shock filled the air and pressed down on me.

My hands were shaking beside me and my toes curled while my face flushed with embarrassment and fear.

“Luna?! This?!” One of the men spat, glaring daggers at me.

His mocking words pierced into my chest, and pain snapped through me.

I lowered my head, saying nothing.

The smile on the woman's face dropped, and she swung her head to face the man, her eyes wide with anger.

“You have to watch your tongue if you don't want to lose it!” She spat at him.

The disgust in his eyes melted into fear, and he drew back, muttering an apology to her.

The woman turned to face me again, the smile returning to her face.

“Come, the Alpha household is waiting for you,” she said as she stretched out her hand towards me again.

I didn't hesitate this time like I did earlier.

I didn't know who she was or what was going on in her mind, but I felt safer with her than those spiteful men.

I staggered and almost dropped when my wobbly feet touched the ground.

The woman grabbed me before I could reach the ground and carefully pulled me up.

“Are you okay?” She gasped with so much fear in her eyes as she helped me stand straight.

My head spun and my chest tightened so hard that I winced in distress and grabbed her for support.

“Don't be afraid. This is your home now,” she whispered as she rubbed my bruise-covered neck. "Let's go,” she said in the calmest voice I had ever heard.

She took my hand and led me off to a black limousine waiting a short distance away from the truck.

My heart began to race again as the words of the cop filled my head.

I gripped the hem of my dress with my clammy hand, gulping hard while fear bubbled in me.

The woman held me so tight, like if she slackened her grip, I would slip off from her.

I could still feel the eyes of the men and other people around there, digging through my back.

I needed no one to tell me that I wasn't accepted here. I was hated.

I sucked in a deep breath, convincing my mind that the people at the manor wouldn't treat me the same way the pack members that lived at the outskirts of the pack treated me.

A man in a black suit and white gloves stepped out and pulled the door open when we neared the limousine.

The lady turned and smiled reassuringly at me, but I knew that smile wasn't real.

I didn't have any chance to weigh her smile or the air of hostility that surrounded me. I had to survive even if it meant acting like a sheep being led to the slaughterhouse.

I got into the car and sat at the far edge of the brand-new leather seats.

She got in after me, and soon the car began to move slowly farther into the Pack.

I gripped my sweaty hands and jammed my knees together.

All through the ride, the woman didn't say a word to me. Not even a glance from her.

She kept her face turned towards the window and her lips sealed.

The air around her suddenly felt cold and unwelcoming.

I sighed and turned to stare at the beautiful landscapes of the BloodMoon Pack.

I was told it had the most beautiful sight and also the most horrifying.

I wondered which one I would come across first.

The fear of me taking part in displaying the latter overwhelmed me.

All through the ride, silence and cold air hung low in the car.

My heart skipped countless beats when I looked up and my eyes caught a large, dark gate a short distance away.

I wanted to ask questions, but the kind of expression on the woman's face made it impossible for me to part my lips.

I swallowed my question and sucked in a deep breath, trying to calm the anxiety that was rising up in me.

The gate pulled open as the car neared it, and it rode right into the large manor.

My eyes widened in awe when I looked out through the window.

The tall, majestic building of the manor stood in the middle. Down at the left wing was a large field obviously used for training grounds and execution.

I read somewhere that that was the field where his fathers fought the war against their enemies. The first war alliance of werewolves and vampires.

I turned my head towards the other side, and I found rows of other high buildings, though not as high as the manor. I knew the Harem House and the business hall were part of it.

I gripped my cold hands tightly, sinking my nails in my flesh as regret filled my heart.

“Come!” I flinched at the sudden grip on my shoulder, then turned my head.

The woman was staring at me with that false smile on her face, her eyes squinting a bit.

“What's wrong? You look so pale!” She gasped, feigning care.

“Nothing. I'm fine.” I forced a smile.

She sighed and stretched her hand towards me again.

“Come on, everyone is waiting,” she said.

My eyes dimmed in confusion, but I said nothing.

What could I say? I was like a slave dressed up to look good before the masters. Those kinds of slaves don't live long, and neither would I.

I clasped my hands in hers, and the door pulled open.

The moment I stepped out, the cold air hit my face, and I shivered slightly.

The people walking to and fro on the premises of the manor stopped everything they were doing and turned to stare at me.

I was dressed in a white lace gown, and a pearl necklace only worn by the royal members of the pack was around my neck.

The master, Asmodeus, had provided the dress and jewelry to the prison guard and ensured I wore every single piece in front of him.

I gripped onto the shawl that I had used earlier as a pillow in the truck. The emerald bracelet around my wrist shone, and my dress flowed right behind me.

I tried to keep my legs steady with the heels on my feet.

With the jewelry on me, anyone could tell that I was either going to join the harem and become the next dead Luna.

Whichever it was, the members didn't care. Most of them made fun of my face and how weak I looked as I walked past them.

I wasn't ugly, but I wouldn't be picked for any beauty competition either. I was quite average in looks and every other thing. And worst of all, I was an Omega with no reputable background.

My feet froze in their staggering steps when I raised my gaze and my eyes locked with a pair of familiar, dark, cold eyes.

I gripped the shawl tighter, my legs shaking and my heart slamming against my ribs.

The entire place had become silent like a graveyard, all heads bowed in respect to him. His dark aura and oppressive pheromones covered the entire place.

He had his dark, cruel gaze on me. An evil smirk twitched at the corner of his lips.

I took a step back when he began to stride towards me slowly.

I darted my eyes around, filled with panic.

Was he going to hit me? Crucify me? Or mock me in front of everyone?

I held my breath, daring not to look into those bottomless dark oceans.

“Look up!” His voice hit me like a thunderbolt, and a gasp of horror escaped my lips.

I slowly raised my head, my eyes full of tears and fear.

He stretched out his long fingers and wrapped them around my chin. His fingers were cold, as cold as his eyes.

“You look cheap in that dress,” he whispered, and my heart dropped.

I gripped my fist, biting into my cheek to suppress the pain that coursed through me.

“Who made it?” He tilted his head and asked the woman beside me.

She raised her head and darted a glance at my dress before looking at him. I could see the fear that flashed past her eyes when she looked up.

“The seamstress from Ardevell–”

“Bring him here!” He groused, causing chills to wash down my spine.

I watched guards drag out a man and make him kneel in the middle of the crowd.

My heart clenched in horror and my eyes widened.

His lips curved, a sinister smirk snapping past them.

“I should welcome you properly,” he whispered, stretching out his hand towards a guard behind him.

My heart thumped in horror as he grabbed the handle of a two-edged blade and walked towards the crying man.

He turned to look at me, the mockery and pride in his eyes obvious.

Horror snapped through me when the blade raised in the air and swung at the man's neck, slicing through it.

Blood splashed on my white dress, and my breath ceased.

I shook in terror and slowly lifted my gaze from the blood that covered my dress to the headless body still wriggling on the floor.

My horrified eyes shifted to the monster's face before I dropped to the ground, falling into darkness.

She turned her head to the side and grinned widely, then shifted her attention back to the berries in the basket. I watched her plop one into her mouth as she darted her eyes around to be sure no one was watching. My lips twitched up and I leaned forward, making sure she wouldn't see me from where she stood below. She wiped away the beads of sweat on her forehead and stretched her body. My throat knotted as our meeting yesterday sneaked into my mind. Pierre had looked like a ghost when I blurted out those words.
