Chapter 3

Author: Perfect Timing
I arrived at Hannah's place the following morning to the sounds of pipe organs echoing from the courtyard.

I looked into the courtyard and noticed Hannah sporting a stylish dress, her wrist adorned with the trendiest watch. She had a vibrant glow that made her unrecognizable from her usual dowdy appearance.

It was Hannah's engagement day, and on such a happy occasion, all the villagers with ties to her family showed up to offer their congratulations.

Those villagers were buzzing with curiosity, asking Hannah who she was engaged to. She merely replied with a mysterious smile, "It's not a big deal, really. You see, my fiance, like Natalie's, happens to be a colonel."

Hannah's declaration caused a commotion among the villagers, as in that day and age, marrying a colonel was a really big deal, the kind of thing that brought honor to one's entire family for generations.

"Oh, my! It seems like our village is blessed! Who would have thought that two women from our village would each marry a colonel?"

"Where's your fiance, Hannah? You should bring him out so that we can meet him already—we've all been waiting for ages now!"

They craned their necks and leaned forward to get a glimpse of Hannah's mysterious fiance as a wave of curiosity rippled through them.

Hannah remained silent, simply staring at me. She finally broke the silence as the crowd's impatience grew, exclaiming, "You can all stop with the guessing now—my fiance is Anthony Warner!"

Hannah's announcement sparked another uproar among the villagers. They were confused as to how Anthony, my fiance, had suddenly become Hannah's.

Just as everyone was puzzled, Hannah continued, "I know you're jealous of my family and educational background, but that's no excuse to destroy my love life with Anthony, Natalie!

"It's a horrible thing to interfere with a marriage, yet you shamelessly tried to seduce Anthony out of pure jealousy!"

Those present exchanged bewildered glances before turning to stare at me with puzzled expressions.

"Isn't Anthony engaged with Natalie? Why is Hannah claiming that Anthony is her fiance then?"

"I know, right? I mean, Anthony and Natalie have been dating for years now."

Upon noticing that everyone was speaking up for me, Hannah smugly held up her wrist to show off the shiny new watch. "Do you see this? It's my engagement gift from Anthony! I'll have you all know—I've known Anthony long before Natalie ever came along.

"You see, Natalie got jealous of me, so she shamelessly lured Anthony away from me. However, a few days ago, Anthony finally came to his senses and realized that I'm the only one he truly loves. That's why he ended things with Natalie and wanted to get engaged to me instead!"

I had been wondering where the watch, which was initially at my place, had gone. It turned out that Hannah had taken it.

I was just about to say something, but Hannah fixed me with a sharp glare and continued, "I held back before this because you're my cousin, but I'm done holding my tongue.

"You knew Anthony and I were in love, but you still seduced him and took him for yourself. You're truly a disgraceful homewrecker! You would've been thrown behind bars if you did this back in the olden days!"

Upon hearing Hannah's statement, the villagers immediately began to whisper among themselves.

"That timepiece is one of a kind! Anthony is probably the only person in the entire village who owns one."

"I know, right? I even heard Anthony mention a few days ago that he intended to buy a watch as an engagement gift."

I noticed the looks on many of their faces turn from confusion to judgment once that piece of evidence was presented.

"I had no idea that Natalie was this kind of person, going so far as to steal her cousin's fiance! How shameless!"

"I never would have thought that Natalie, who always looked so well-behaved, would do something so immoral and disgusting!"

It was just like in my past life, where Hannah's remarks had turned the tide in her favor. It probably never occurred to her that I had been reborn, though.

I merely stared at her smug expression and said, "Your empty words mean nothing, Hannah. Why don't you bring Anthony out here so that we can get to the bottom of this? I'd like to see if I really seduced him or if you're just making it up!"

Hannah scoffed in response. "You're still not admitting it even when the evidence is right here, huh? You won't believe me until I bring Anthony out here, right?

"I was trying to spare you the embarrassment since you're my cousin, but if you're so determined to humiliate yourself, then I have no choice but to bring Anthony out and prove you wrong!"

"That's exactly what I was hoping for," I said.

Hannah scoffed at my stubbornness. "I'll give you exactly what you've asked for then!"

She then turned and shouted toward the house. "Anthony! Anthony!"

I looked at Hannah, pretending to be concerned. "Are you even sure you can actually get Anthony to come out, Hannah?"

Hannah glared coldly at me before violently pushing me over. "I know what you're up to, Natalie! You're just jealous of my perfect fiance! You're just trying to stall so that you can steal him away from me!"

She then turned toward the house and started shouting again, "You have to come out here right now, Anthony! It's our big day, so we can't be late!"

It was then that a hefty figure with a white corsage on its body emerged from the house, proudly holding its head up.

In an instant, the scene erupted into chaos. I summoned my courage and peeked into the delivery room, and one glance was enough to make me want to throw up. The pristine floor was now covered in blood, and a sickening, foul smell hung heavy in the air.Hannah lay motionless on the hospital bed. Her belly had a huge, gaping hole in it, and small, pink, wiggling things were crawling out of her stomach, one after another. I took a closer look and noticed that they were newborn piglets.Hannah was lying on the bed, barely breathing as she kept mumbling, "Oh, m-my baby…"Even the police officer who came to give the verdict was flustered by the scene before them. And those who had always dismissed such superstitions as nonsense couldn't stop themselves from screaming at the absurdity of what lay before them.Hannah's lie about being pregnant with Anthony's child was now completely exposed.Anthony's stomach churned as he saw the piglets crawl out of the delivery room, but he still hug

In the end, since we couldn't prove that the baby wasn't Anthony's, we had no choice but to wait for the day of Hannah's delivery to discover the truth.I reached the county hospital with Anthony, only to find that a crowd of villagers had already gathered there, eager to witness the spectacle.Throughout her pregnancy, Hannah had been telling everyone that she was carrying Anthony's baby and that I was the heartless cousin who had stolen her man. Thus, the moment I walked into the hospital while holding Anthony's hand, those villagers began pointing and gossiping about us.Upon seeing the woman who had not only tarnished his name but also earned him a brutal reprimand from his commanding officer, Anthony flew into a rage.Hannah, on the other hand, smiled sweetly upon spotting Anthony. She then took his hand and tried to put it on her baby bump. "You're here, Anthony! I knew you cared about me! Come feel the baby! He's so much like you. He never stops moving!"Anthony pulled hi

I widened my eyes in disbelief, wondering how Hannah was two months pregnant. That was impossible. Anthony hadn't even returned from the army back then, so there was absolutely no way Hannah could have been pregnant.Hannah noticed my stunned expression and said with a smug grin, "I told you all along. The baby is Anthony's."She then stroked her baby bump and continued, "You can rest assured that you'll come into this world with a legitimate identity, my dear little one."I couldn't help but feel a shiver down my spine as I looked at the gentle smile spread across her face. Hannah, that lunatic, had ruined my marriage and family in my past life, and in this life, she still wouldn't let me be. If she was going to be so merciless, I wouldn't hold back either!I submitted the evidence to the police showing Anthony's military deployment, and then I started to piece things together—the baby in Hannah's womb couldn't possibly have been conceived through normal means.I then thought

Anthony had promised to hold an engagement party for me after the whole ordeal with Hannah.Yet, on the day of the engagement party, as we were solemnly exchanging our tokens of love, a group of police officers suddenly stormed in and took Anthony into custody."I'd like to inform you that we've received a report that you've forced a woman to get pregnant. You're going to have to come with us, Mr. Warner," said the police officer.I immediately had a shocking suspicion. I dropped everything at the engagement party and hurried to the police station after the police officer.I hadn't even gone in yet when I heard that familiar, grating voice. I looked at that all-too-familiar, spiteful face and couldn't help but feel like she was just like a haunting spirit that wouldn't leave me alone.Upon seeing me, Hannah smiled triumphantly. "Haven't I said it, Natalie? Anthony will be my husband, the father of my unborn child."She then placed her hand on her visibly pregnant baby bump, her f

Hannah's eyes were bloodshot, and she looked completely unhinged with that pig still on her heels. She somehow, with a burst of inexplicable strength, managed to yank me out of Anthony's embrace. She tightened her grip on my arm, causing her nails to dig into my arm and draw blood. "You shameless whore! You stole my man, so I'll make sure you won't live to see tomorrow!"She gripped my hair and pulled hard, making my scalp throb in agony.None of the villagers dared to intervene when they saw Hannah acting so frenzied. It was Anthony who stepped in and tightly grabbed Hannah's wrist, making her let go so that my hair was no longer in her grasp. When Hannah saw Anthony helping me, her face crumpled in a show of pure anguish. "How can you side with this hussy who's trying to come between us, Anthony? I'm the one who's supposed to be your fiancee!"She looked utterly stricken as she raised her wrist to show Anthony the watch. "Have you forgotten, Anthony? You said this was supposed

The people exchanged bewildered glances, not knowing what to make of the situation.Hannah leaned in and planted a kiss on it, then smirked at me triumphantly. "Did you see that, Natalie? Anthony and I are meant to be! You should know that true love can't be forced. You can't expect me to give up Anthony just because you're jealous, right?"I couldn't help but smile wryly. I found it utterly ridiculous that she was so captivated by the illusion of riches that she was clueless about what was truly in her arms.It was then that one of the villagers finally spoke up, unable to hold back. "Have you lost your mind? Who in their right mind would be jealous of you tying the knot with a pig?"Upon hearing that, Hannah suddenly let go of that pig's hand, her face draining of color. She finally snapped out of it when someone called out to her and screamed, "Get away from me! What the heck is this thing?"That enormous, mud-covered pig seemed to have targeted Hannah and charged straight at h
