Chapter 1

Author: Hunk Alert
Upon seeing that I refused to give up the seat, the unruly child's mother pointed a finger at me and berated, "Even my son knows to respect the elderly and cherish the young. But look at you, fighting with a child over a seat.

"What's someone as selfish as you doing in the first-class cabin? You're just insulting the other passengers here!"

I was just about to call a flight attendant over, but the woman pressed the call button first. She bossily barked orders at the chief steward who had just hurried over. His nametag read Lawrence Pratt.

"Mr. Pratt, I want to file a complaint! How can your airline let just anyone into the first-class cabin? This person not only stole a child's seat, but she also hit someone! I demand you throw her off this plane immediately!"

Lawrence wore a professional, neutral smile on his face, but a trace of impatience showed between his brows.

"Ladies, the plane will soon begin takeoff procedures. Please return to your respective seats and fasten your seatbelts. We can discuss any issues after takeoff when we're at cruising altitude, okay?"

I was about to nod and sit down, but the woman behind me seized the chance. She shoved her child into my seat and buckled his seatbelt.

"A discussion? There's nothing to discuss! She's an adult who laid hands on my son over a seat and scared him! This isn't over!"

I almost burst into angry laughter at this woman's shamelessness.

"When did I lay hands on him? From start to finish, I never even touched a single hair on his head! The surveillance can prove it!

"Also, this is my seat! I paid for it!"

I turned to Lawrence, suppressing my anger. "Mr. Pratt, this is my seat. Please ask her and her son to leave."

Lawrence began to speak to her. "Ma'am—"

But the woman raised her hand to signal Lawrence to be quiet, then yelled at me, "You still have the nerve to talk, huh? Did no one teach you manners? Do you even know how to spell it?

"My son is only four! Can't you show some courtesy? What's the big deal about giving up your seat?"

The surrounding gazes were all focused on me, each filled with scrutiny and blame.

I couldn't be bothered to argue with her anymore. I took out my ID card and boarding pass from my bag and showed them to Lawrence.

"Excuse me, but this is the first-class seat I paid 12,000 dollars for. My name is clearly printed on the ticket. Why should I give up a service I paid for to an unruly brat?

"I could easily file a complaint against you. Why didn't you verify boarding passes before letting someone just come in and take a seat? This is a major mistake in your duties!"

Lawrence's face instantly turned pale. Understanding the seriousness of the situation, he quickly turned to the woman with an apologetic smile and said, "Ma'am, I'm truly sorry. Perhaps you could take your child back to your own seat for now? The plane is about to take off. Safety comes first."

The woman sneered. She pulled out her phone, opened the e-ticket page, and shoved it right in Lawrence's face.

"Take a good look! Whose name is on the seat 1A? My husband bought this ticket for me, so how could it be wrong? I was giving you a way out, but you didn't take it. Now, you're just humiliating yourself!"

Lawrence looked at the page closely, and his expression became even more puzzled.

However, when I saw the e-ticket information, I was utterly stunned. Under seat number 1A, it clearly displayed a name completely unfamiliar to me—Raine Gilmore.

But I had clearly used my own account, swiped my own card, and paid a solid 12,000 dollars!

What on earth was going on?

A year had passed since then.My phone vibrated, showing a message from my private lawyer."Ms. Greene, the civil dispute between Klaus and Raine was settled today. Raine sued Klaus for domestic violence and was seeking compensation. The court partially upheld her claims."I raised an eyebrow and replied, "Got it."I had long stopped caring about the aftermath of those two and would only occasionally hear fragmented updates from my lawyer. After Klaus was kicked out with nothing to his name, he became a complete wreck. He lost the skills he relied on for survival and all his former glory, falling from a lofty position to a scumbag despised by everyone. The immense shock from his reality was more than he could bear. He drank heavily all day, and his temperament became irritable and volatile. He took out all his failures and resentment on Raine and their son.Domestic violence became commonplace in their "new family".Raine's good days were over too, and her dream of marrying int

Being fired and having his license revoked meant Klaus could never return to the skies he was so proud of for the rest of his life. His knees gave way, and he kneeled straight down in front of everyone. He crawled a few steps on his knees to my feet and reached out to grab my pant leg, but I kicked him away in disgust."Caitlyn! I was wrong! I was really wrong!"Tears and snot streamed down his face. He looked utterly disheveled, bearing no resemblance to the confident captain he usually was."I was tempted and lost myself! It was that bitch Raine who seduced me! I made a huge mistake in a moment of confusion! Please forgive me this once, okay? We're husband and wife! You can't do this to me!""Husband and wife?" I echoed, feeling like I had heard the funniest joke of the century. "When you altered my ticket for another woman and child, humiliated me, and even verbally abused me, did you remember then that we were husband and wife?""Caitlyn… Give me another chance… for the sake

"Oh, my God! The captain actually abused his authority to privately alter passenger information! This is unheard of!""That's terrifying! If he can change someone else's ticket for his mistress today, could he sell our information for something else tomorrow?""How can such scum with bad morals become a captain? I can't bear to think about entrusting the lives of hundreds to him!""If you can't afford first-class, then don't fly it! Stealing someone else's seat and then twisting the blame—this is a new low! How absolutely revolting!"Public opinion was instantly reversed. The disdain they had for me before was now directed as contempt toward Klaus and Raine.Klaus swayed slightly, almost unsteady on his feet. He looked at me regretfully and pleadingly, and his lips quivered as he tried to say something."Caitlyn… I-I was wrong… Please let me explain…"I coldly looked away, not even bothering to spare him an extra glance.Just then, Raine, who had been in a daze, finally snapped

The sharp shout made Klaus' outstretched hand freeze in mid-air.Everyone turned in unison toward the sound and saw a middle-aged man with an extraordinary presence quickly striding over. There was anxiety and fear in his expression, and his forehead was covered in sweat. He had clearly rushed all the way here."M-Mr. Conway?"Lawrence paled in fright upon recognizing the man, and his legs went so weak that he almost lost his balance. This was Jeffrey Conway, the highest executive president of their aviation group! He was a figure usually seen only in news reports or at annual company meetings. Why would he personally come to a plane about to take off today?Klaus was also stunned. He quickly withdrew his hand, straightened his uniform, and respectfully stepped forward."Mr. Conway, what brings you here? Has something happened?" he asked. However, Jeffrey didn't even glance in his direction and walked straight past him. Under the shocked and uncertain gazes of all the passenge

My words landed like an exploding bomb in the silent cabin.Klaus' face instantly turned as pale as a sheet, and fine cold sweat beaded on his forehead. With a panicked look, he subconsciously let go of Raine's hand. He opened his mouth, but he couldn't utter a single word of explanation.Beside him, Raine—after a brief moment of shock—immediately jumped up, screeching. She pointed at me and yelled, "What nonsense are you spouting? Who are you, you crazy woman? I don't even know you!"Honey, don't listen to her nonsense. She's just a scammer trying to climb to higher ranks. She sees you're handsome and a captain, so she's trying to cause a scene and extort you! Don't fall for it!"As she spoke, she hugged Klaus' arm even tighter and looked at him with a tearful gaze."Honey, tell her quickly that I'm your wife! Stand up for me and our son! We can't let some shady woman slander our reputation here!"The surrounding passengers looked at me, then at Klaus and Raine. For a moment, th

After hanging up the phone, a brief silence followed. Raine was the first to burst into sharp, piercing laughter. She pointed at me while laughing and said to the nearby passengers, "Did you all hear that? She said a hacker compromised the system, and that she wants the company's top-level executive to come!"Oh, my God! Where did this drama queen come from? To keep a seat, she even made up such a lie. This really rattles my world view!"The surrounding passengers also joined in the mocking laughter. Their eyes were filled with scorn and disdain toward me."I think she's watched too many movies and actually thinks she's some heroine who saved the world.""Hurry up and take her away! Don't let her throw a fit here anymore. I'm seriously in a hurry!"Lawrence's expression darkened even further, becoming extremely stormy. "Air marshals, stop wasting words with her. Take direct compulsory measures and remove this woman who's seriously endangering flight safety from the plane!"He tu
