ISABELLE’S POV “Please open the door! I beg you. I cannot stay here anymore. Please let me out! Help me! There is so much darkness here! Help!”. I shout as I bang on the door with my fist. ISABELLE’S POV The king leaves my neck and pushes me towards the floor. I put my hand on my neck as I try to inhale as much air as I can. Now my neck is in pain too. My breathing is irregular along with the beating of my heart. “I wanted to punish you for doing this but I want to be generous to you because I love you. I am going to give you two options, Isabelle. You can choose only one of them. I have thought about this a lot and now I think I can be this generous to the woman I love. It is your choice which you want to choose”. ISABELLE’S POV “Why? Why this cruelty, my king”. I ask the king in a low voice. Fear has gripped my insides so tightly that now even my voice is coming so low. This is your punishment for trying to escape me and you have chosen this yourself in exchange for the life of those who helped you to escape. I told you numerous times that you should forget about your village and accept this life but you did not listen. No worries, I am sure that after this punishment you will never think of escaping me”. The king tells me in a cold tone. He looks toward me and I see only no mercy or kindness in his eyes. ISABELLE’S POV With shaking hands and fearfully I took the goblet from the king’s hand because I feared that he might do something to harm me. The king says. I don’t respond again because I don’t know what he wants me to say in reply to this. It is evident that he wants me to be thankful to him but I am not because I never wished for this. THE NEXT DAY ISABELLE’S POV Now my life has become more boring. I cannot even walk or go towards the window. I have nothing to do the whole day. I am tired of sitting in bed. She helped me in having a bath this morning and also brought breakfast for me. She left only a few moments ago because she had some work. Two Weeks later ISABELLE’S POV Two weeks have passed since that day. My feet have healed quite quickly than expected. Now I can walk without difficulty. Margaret helped me a lot these days. She also helped me with walking. During these two weeks, I could not go to the library and I read all the books which I had. Margaret has been nothing but nice to me. I am free the whole day as I have nothing to do. As I have nothing to do so most of my time is spent looking outside the window or sleeping. I thought a hundred times before touching him. He looked towards me the moment when my hand touched his arm. “Please, don’t kill her. Spare her life. She should not be given this punishment. You said that you will give me whatever you want”. I remind him of his words and request him to forgive Esme. There was a flicker of emotions in the king’s eye which I saw for only a moment before it disappeared. His eyes have turned to normal
