Chapter Twenty-three: Sages and Mages

Silas and Saul stood still, their hands hovering over their weapons. They had been so focused on finding the book that they hadn't noticed the creatures sneaking up on them.

"We're just passing through," Saul said, his voice steady. "We mean you no harm."

The creatures chuckled, and Silas couldn't help but notice the sharp fangs poking out from under their hoods.

"Passing through, you say? And you think you can harm us?" one of them said, taking a step closer. "And what brings you to these parts? Are you too cocky or you are downright dumb? Haven’t you heard of the legend of Kedo forest? No one gets out"

Silas glanced at Saul, unsure of how to proceed. They had come this far, and he wasn't about to let some hooded creatures stop them now.

"We’re neither arrogant nor stupid. We’re just desperate. We're looking for the saber-toothed mages," Silas said, his voice steady. "We've heard that they may have information about breaking a curse."
