CHAPTER 9
Keira feels bad for avoiding his best friend for almost a month now. However, every time she sees Zeev, which is every day, she always remembers and contemplates what happened during Valentines’ Day. She knew she doesn’t like Zeev that way, even letting him mark her after the kiss. Though it was not something she would feel guilty of towards her best friend, Keira still felt like she did something wrong behind Zane’s back.
Although she tried her best to act like nothing happened, she stopped visiting and hanging out with Zane outside university. She couldn’t help it. She wanted to clear her head first before coming there again and be back to her usual self. So, after a while and seeing Zane getting along with Zeev and Tyr lately, she thought maybe she was just overthinking things on her own. The afternoon sun casted long shadows of trees on the ground. The leaning rays of setting sun glazed warm and orange tinge to the sky. Summer is indeed here as Zane’s entire body feels the warm temperature rising. But that’s not only because of the season. The beads of sweat gracing down his chin, neck, and down to drench his plain blue shirt are making it even warmer in the humid weather. Laser focus, back slightly bent down, and knees finding stable balance from his feet on the ground, Zane tried to steady his breathing, albeit calculated, and eyes narrowed, afraid to miss something.
