Sienna's POV

Jason stood on my porch like a ghost. For half a second, I wondered if I’d imagined him.

Then he smiled.

“Sienna,” he said, like I still belonged to him.

“What are you doing here?” My words were sharp.

He glanced past me, towards the interior of the house, curiosity flickering in his eyes. “Can I come in?”

“No,” I said immediately. “You can talk from there.”

His smile faltered, just a little. “Wow. I deserve that, I guess.”

“You don’t deserve anything,” I replied, my hand tighteni

Eric's POVI exhaled slowly as the car came to a stop outside the Grand Meridian.Sienna should have been here with me but she wasn’t. She still needed to spend some time with her mother and Jessica. So I left New York alone.Megan's message from the day before replayed in my head. “We need to talk.”I called her immediately after reading it.“What is this about?” I asked the moment she picked up.There was a brief pause before she spoke.“It’s not something I can explain over the phone,” she said quietly. My brows furrowed.“Megan…”“It’s about Julian.”That was all she said before the call ended. And that was all it took for me to take the next flight to London.Sienna had insisted on coming with me to the airport. She didn’t say much during the drive, her hand just rested on mine the entire time.At the terminal, she finally turned to me.“Be careful,” she said quietly.“I will,” I replied, brushing my thumb gently against her hand.“I’ll be back home in a week or two,” she added.

Sienna's POV Brenda’s eyes flickered around the living room, then she looked back at me.“Can we talk somewhere private?”For a second, I considered saying no. Today has already taken so much out of me emotionally, mentally and physically. But I was curious to hear what she wanted to say.“Okay,” I said, giving a small nod. “Follow me.”I led her upstairs to my bedroom. The door creaked softly as I pushed it open. I stepped in first, moving toward the bed and sitting down slowly.Brenda followed, closing the door gently behind her before taking a seat beside me, leaving just enough space between us.For a moment, neither of us spoke. Then she exhaled deeply.“I was envious of you.”I leaned in slightly and listened.“You had everything I thought I wanted,” she continued, her gaze fixed on her hands. “Your life, confidence, the way people respected you, and the way Jason looked at you.”My fingers tightened slightly on the bedspread.“And I hated how easy it seemed for you. How comple

Sienna's POV2 WEEKS LATERI stood in front of the room, my hands trembling slightly as I tightly wrapped my fingers around the edges of the paper in my hands. The church was filled.I stared at all the familiar faces—family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. People who have known my father in different ways and seasons of his life. The past two weeks have been the hardest of my life.Grieving while trying to be strong for my mother and sister, and trying not to fall apart every time I walked past something that reminded me of Dad.But in all of these, I'm grateful for one of life's greatest gifts to me, Eric. He has been there for me every step of the way—every night I cried or talked about memories of Dad. Even in moments I thought I couldn't breathe through the pain, he held me. And somehow, that made this moment just a little less impossible.Seated in the front row were Mom, Jessica and Eric. Mom looks much better now, therapy has helped her a little. She held a tissue in her h

Sienna's POV The nurse suggested that I go home to get some rest because of my condition but I couldn't leave the hospital.Mom was moved out of the emergency room a few hours ago into a quieter ward. The doctors said she collapsed from the shock, that her body simply gave in to the weight of it all, she was stable now, fine—that was the word they used. But there was nothing fine about the way she stared blankly ahead, refusing to speak or eat despite the nurses’ gentle attempts. It was like she had retreated somewhere deep inside herself, somewhere we couldn’t reach. The doctor said she just needed time, but what she needed most right now was us—Jessica and me—by her side, helping her find her way back from this. I nodded when he said it, even though I had no idea how to pull her back when I was still trying to keep myself from falling apart.I sat on the small couch directly opposite Mom's bed, Jessica was fast asleep with her head resting on my shoulder. My phone buzzed softly bes

Sienna's POVAfter I ended the call with Eric, I couldn't move. I sat frozen in the hospital corridor. The chair beneath me felt too hard, the faint smell of antiseptic lingered in the air.Directly across from me, was room 302.My eyes stayed fixed on it, unblinking.Just two hours ago, I was inside that room.Dad was awake, sitting up, smiling, and laughing.I could still hear his voice and laughter.“You girls worry too much,” he had said, shaking his head as Jessica dramatically insisted he needed two heart transplants instead of one.“I’m serious, Dad!” she had argued, tossing her hands in the air. “You’re not allowed to go anywhere. Ever.”He chuckled, reaching out to squeeze her hand. “I’ll try my best to stick around just to annoy you.”I rolled my eyes, smiling at them.“You already do that just fine.” Jessica said.Mom had gone downstairs to take a small walk in the yard and also get coffee from the cafeteria.“You need to be there for your mother,” Dad had murmured quietly

Eric's POVWhen I arrived at the boardroom, everyone was already seated. Quiet conversations floated through the air but died down the moment I stepped in. Every eye followed me as I made my way to my seatI kept my expression neutral but inside, my thoughts were anything but.Julian has been arrested?Even now, it didn’t really sit right.I pulled out my chair and sat down, the leather creaked softly beneath me.My father cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention.“Let’s begin.”“As you are all aware,” he continued, “there has been an unexpected development regarding Julian. He has been taken into police custody under circumstances we are still working to fully understand.”A ripple of whispers moved through the room.“While details remain limited,” he went on, “we must immediately address the implications this has on Macmillan Holdings.”Implications.That was one way to put it.I leaned back slightly, my gaze swept across the room, reading the expressions on their faces.
