Chapter 11

Hayden followed her pristine white fingertips with his eyes, the intense contrast between her pure white skin and the vivid red of her nail polish causing a jolt of emotion within him. A strange feeling washed over him, one that he could not quite place. He wanted to kiss her, but he could not bring himself to do it, not with her recent talk of divorce and her seemingly determined attitude to stay away from him. It was only in her intoxicated state that she had demanded his kiss. Despite the temptation that pulsed through him, Hayden knew better than to take advantage of her in such a vulnerable state.

"Not here. Somewhere else," he said.

But Wyneth shook her head. "No."

Hayden's gaze wandered over her fair cheeks, and his finger gently traced them. "Do you want me to kiss here?" he asked softly.

Wyneth kept shaking her head, but Hayden had an unusual amount of patience. He playfully tapped her nose and asked, "How about here then?"
