Chapter 6

Author: Yvaine Claire
Wyneth's pretty eyelashes drooped down. She calmly said, "I want to be alone."

"But Wyn..."

Wyneth did not bother to listen to what they wanting to say. Instead, she pulled the blanket over her head.

The five of them exchanged looks, all seeing the sense of resignation in the others' eyes. After a few seconds, they left the room one by one.

"Wyn is probably still sad, huh?" Andrew Spencer sighed.

"Hayden must be blind! How could he treat my little sister like that? I need to give him a piece of my mind," cursed Wyneth's most immature brother, Dean, his face full of indignation.

Caleb quickly intervened upon hearing it, "Don't even think about it. Wyn was deeply devoted to him. If you try to harm him, Wyn will fight you with everything she's got."

"Well, she might have cherished him in the past, but who knows now? They did get divorced after all."

"They may be divorced, but Wyn is still feeling hurt," Elon pushed up his glasses. His words hit the nail on the head.

Dean was momentarily speechless.

As the eldest brother, Andrew spoke slowly, "Since Wyn wants to be alone, let's not disturb her anymore. She has grown up and has her own thoughts."

The youngest of the six, Finn Spencer, who had been silent all along, slowly opened his eyes and spoke in a flat tone, "Well, if that's all, I guess we're done here." With that, he disappeared from everyone's sight in a flash.

Dean could not help but quip, "This brat's got the biggest attitude despite being the youngest. He wouldn't even show up if it weren't for Wyn."

"Finn's always been like this, preferring to be alone unless he's with Wyn."

"Let's get going too."

"Wyn, we're heading out. If you need anything, just give us a call!"

Bang!

The world fell silent.

Wyneth sat up, lifted the blanket, and reached for her phone. She scrolled through her recent contacts on WhatsApp until she found the person she was looking for and pressed the call button.

...

At the Stello Studios' ancient costume set, it was the peak of the scorching summer heat. Despite the nearly 40-degree weather, the crew persisted in shooting the scene. Many were already sweating profusely, with sweat dripping down their foreheads and stinging their eyes, making it hard to keep them open.

"Action!"

The sound of a loud yell, "Hyah!" came as a woman dressed in a bright red gown rode atop a fake horse, which was being carted along by a crew. The wind lifted the hem of her dress which was bright red as blood.

As she traveled, palace servants stepped forward to block her path, but were quickly met with the whip in the woman's hand.

"Get outta my way! Stop me and you will die!"

"Cut! Cut! Cut! Cut!!"

The director had shouted "cut" countless times, and the entire set fell silent, especially the woman in red on the fake horse. She did not even dare to take a breath.

"How many times do I have to tell you? Your facial expression needs to be cold and valiant in this shot! What was that just now? The face of a dead person? Are you a corpse or something?"

The woman in red hung her head in grievance and bit her lip, "I'm sorry, Mr. Lambert..."

Matthew Lambert was even more frustrated. He said through his gritted teeth, "That's enough for today. Let's try again tomorrow!"

As Matthew stormed off in a huff, he ran into an acquaintance.

"Shaun, what are you doing here?"

Shaun Chapman was a prominent talent manager in the showbiz A-list. He had earned a great reputation in the industry for his discernment in working only with those who had real talent and potential.

"Hey, Matthew. Well, Luke's new film has started filming next door, so I thought I'd come check it out."

"Ah, I see," Matthew nodded, but suddenly thought of something and asked Shaun, "Actually, my drama is facing some issues. Do you know any actresses who could help me out?"

Shaun was intrigued. "Your drama is having problems? That's unexpected. Tell me more. What kind of actress are you looking for?"

Matthew gave a brief overview of the character's profile. Upon hearing it, Shaun could not help but squint his eyes. "So, you're looking for someone who's not only beautiful but also looks valiant, with exceptional acting skills and is willing to play a villainess. That's a tough ask."

"That's precisely what's giving me a headache," Matthew sighed.

"Well, actually, I know someone who might fit the role," Shaun said.

"Who is it? Bring her over, and let's take a look," Matthew asked eagerly.

Shaun sighed heavily and said, "Unfortunately, she's not in the showbiz. I've been trying to recruit her for the past three years." Inwardly, he added, 'But every year I invite her, she turns me down. It's always the same.'

Matthew exclaimed, "Are there people that even you, Shaun Chapman, can't recruit?"

Shaun was about to say something, but his phone suddenly rang. He retrieved it from his pocket and glanced at the screen, his eyes widening in surprise. 'It's Wyneth!' he thought to himself.

"Sorry, Matthew, I have to take this call," Shaun said excitedly as he dashed off to answer the phone.

Matthew looked at him with confusion written all over his face as Shaun dashed off to answer the phone. Shaun's face was a mix of excitement, anticipation, and nostalgia. Although Matthew had known Shaun for years, he had never seen such a look on his friend's face before.

"Sure, no problem. I'll come to pick you up tomorrow," Shaun said on the phone before hanging up. When he returned to Matthew, a smile lit up his face.

"What's up? Did your girlfriend call?" Matthew asked curiously.

Shaun's expression immediately turned strange. "Girlfriend? She's the potential actress I mentioned earlier, the one I'm trying to recruit."

"Oh, the one who didn't want to join the showbiz?"

"Yes, she changed her mind suddenly. Do you think she would be a good fit for the supporting role you mentioned earlier?"

"Absolutely, bring her over and let me have a look."

"Great, I will."

Shaun hurriedly turned and ran off. Matthew watched him go in the direction of Stello Studios and could not help but narrow his eyes. He wondered, "Wasn't he supposed to meet with Luke? For the sake of signing this girl, he's not even bothering with Luke Langdon?"

On that day, Shaun flew back to Acrofburg from Frecford. When he arrived, he saw Wyneth dressed in a stunning golden lace dress, with her long and soft hair falling gracefully over her shoulders. Her fair complexion radiated with a natural glow that made it hard to take anyone's eyes off her

As Shaun walked in the café, he could not help but admire Wyneth's beauty. Three years ago, he had caught a glimpse of her wearing a pristine white wedding gown, holding a bouquet of flowers and posing for a wedding photoshoot with her friend. Her smile was radiant and captivating. Three years later, she had matured into a cool and alluring woman, drawing the attention of everyone in the room just by sitting there. Some people even sneakily took photos of her from the side.

Shaun walked up to her, scanning the room as he did so, and the people quickly put their phones away.

Wyneth looked up and met Shaun's gaze with her clear eyes.

"Ms. Walford, it's nice to see you again," Shaun greeted her.

Wyneth's eyes flickered, and a small smile curved on her lips. "Hi, Mr. Chapman."

"It's been three years, and you look even more stunning than before," Shaun said, surprised and delighted to see Wyneth once again. If her beauty three years ago was a little restrained, now it was pronounced, striking, and impossible to ignore.

In today's showbiz, plastic surgery was prevalent, and while many female artists were attractive, their beauty could be stiff and lack vitality, with significant shortcomings. But Wyneth was different. Her breathtaking beauty, when fully unleashed, was like a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

"I heard," Hayden sighed, thinking she might tell him not to touch her."What do you think?" Wyneth asked."Me?" A small smile formed on Hayden's lips as he gently kissed her. "It's whatever you want."Wyneth's eyes sparkled. "So, you'll listen to me?"Hayden hesitated. "Except...""What?" Wyneth's tone shifted to annoyance. "You aren't backing out, right? You just said it's up to me.""It's not that I'm backing out," Hayden said, "I just have one condition. I'll listen to you any other time, but there's one thing I can't do.""What thing?" Wyneth asked.Hayden leaned in and whispered in her ear. Isn't this okay for us? Don't you think so?" As he kissed her, he began to unbutton her collar. His voice was low and smooth. "Just listen to me this one time. For everything else, whatever y

On the ride home from the hotel, tears rolled down Wyneth's cheeks nonstop. This time, though, she was not alone by the car window. She was nestled in Hayden's arms. He wiped away each tear, comforting her all the way."Don't cry. It's just a mix-up, okay? He said he's fine and will be around for a long time," Hayden whispered.Despite his soothing words, Wyneth's tears did not cease. Seeing this, Hayden, filled with concern, gently asked, "Is this not what you wanted?"Confused, Wyneth looked up. "What are you talking about? I'm beyond happy he's alive."Hayden smiled, gently wiping her eyes. "Then why are you still crying?""I'm crying because..." Wyneth bit her lower lip, with Hector's words echoing in her mind. She had always been upset, believing her father had not wanted her years ago. But just as she was about to leave, Cindy pulled her aside. "Wyneth," her mother said gently, "your dad did want you. When I divorced him, I had just one demand.""What was it?""I wanted o

Everyone was silent. Just before entering the private dining room, Wyneth blurted out, "Is he really dying?" Hearing this, Andrew's steps halted. Before he could answer, she added, "How long does he have? Why didn't anyone say anything before?"Andrew sighed and turned around. "Is that why you're here?" Wyneth pursed her lips. A wave of uncertainty washed over Andrew. 'This mom and daughter,' he thought, 'they're here because they got it all wrong. Mom is acting differently toward Dad, too. She was all tough before, but now she's gone soft, probably thinks Dad is dying. And Dad? He's just laughing, like he's having a good time with all this mess.' Andrew hesitated, then said, "Let's talk inside." He chose to hold his words for now.Hayden and Wyneth walked into the private dining room. Cindy was passing dishes to Hector. As they entered, every pair of eyes turned their way. A divorced couple and six sons stared at Hayden. Used to the predictable world of leadership, Hayden now ventur

Just at that moment, a knock sounded from outside."Sir, your mother is back," someone said.Hayden could feel the person in his arms stiffen, her body tensed. "Don't worry, I'm right here," he reassured her softly."Your mother heard that Ms. Walford is here. She wants to see her," the voice from outside continued.'Meet me?' Wyneth bit her lower lip lightly. 'Why does she want to see me? To insult me again?'"She hasn't eaten yet. She can meet her after eating," Hayden said, gently turning down the request for Wyneth. Outside, everything fell silent."Won't this offend your mom?" Wyneth's voice filled with concern as she asked.Hayden looked at Wyneth, pausing for a moment before speaking. "I know she's been mean to you," he said. Wyneth's eyes widened in surprise. "I'm sorry." He bent down and lightly kissed her forehead. "You've been treated unfairly." Hector was speechless as Cindy mistakenly thought he was ill. Seeing her worried face, he felt the misunderstanding might not be so terrible. He shared a look with Andrew. His eldest son caught on immediately, giving a subtle head shake. Understanding the signal not to mislead Cindy any further, Hector hesitated before gently asking, "Can I see her? Even just a glance?" It had been many years since he last saw his daughter up close, and she had not called him "Dad" in all that time.Cindy, lost in thought, stared at Hector before finally nodding as if admitting defeat. "Fine, I'll call her."Later, Wyneth fell asleep. Upon waking, she found herself on the large bed in Hayden's bedroom. She saw Hayden sitting at the sofa, busy with a computer.Hearing her movement, Hayden immediately got up and walked toward her. "Awake? Thirsty or hungry? Want something to eat first?"Having slept through lunch, Wyneth was hungry, so she nodded. "Sure."After Hayden left to give some instructions,
