I was more than ready to go. I had a bag packed that was always in my car and as much money as I possibly could have. That wasn't a lot, but it would have to do.
I felt kind of shitty that most of this was on Jovie. She had to steal the diamond and she was in immediate danger with that prick Jasper.
But we were so close to getting away. And then I could finally keep her safe. I think my parents could tell something was up with me. I had been very strange. I was putting in effort at work and didn't complain. I figured I could work hard for a few days before disappearing.
