Chapter 3

Ethan's first instinct was to pull Lily behind him, looking at Lana with complete displeasure. "Lana, what the hell is wrong with you?"

The other men were also shocked by Lana's action.

Was this still the same Lana who had always been gentle and gracious in front of Ethan?

She'd been sharp-tongued earlier, and now she was making a scene in front of Ethan. Didn't she know men hated it when women acted like this?

They had felt a bit sorry for her before, but now...

She deserved to be dumped by Ethan!

So none of them had any intention of explaining or mediating. They just sat back and waited to watch Lana make a fool of herself.

A person's instinctive reactions reveal everything. Watching Ethan protect Lily behind him, Lana felt nothing but heartache.

It wasn't that she was being pathetic—she had just loved him for so long that some emotional habits needed time to break.

Suppressing the feelings she shouldn't have, Lana smiled slightly at Ethan. "Why so nervous? I was just helping Miss Walsh swat a fly. Strange though—the fly didn't bother anyone else, just Miss Walsh. Could it be that Miss Walsh has some special seductive scent that others don't have?"

"Lana, that's enough!" This was the first time Ethan had seen Lana like this, and he really didn't like it!

The other men exchanged glances again.

Lana had really lost it!

But she was so skillful at insulting people!

Not a single dirty word, yet it was filthy as hell!

Not only had she been slapped but also insulted. Lily's face turned red and pale alternately, but...

After quickly giving Lana a provocative look, she stepped out from behind Ethan. "Ethan, don't be angry. Miss Carter..."

"Slap!"

Getting hit again, Lily was completely dazed.

Ethan grabbed Lana's wrist, his dark eyes filled with cold light. "If you're going to act crazy, at least have some limits!"

"I'm helping her swat flies. Why are you getting so worked up?" Lana looked innocent, then turned her gaze to Lily. "Miss Walsh, let me correct you—I'm not Miss Carter, I'm Mrs. Mitchell. After all, your CEO and I aren't divorced. Calling me that could cause misunderstandings."

She just didn't like losing her temper—that didn't mean she had no temper. It wasn't Lily's turn to act up in front of her!

Both Ethan and Lily's expressions changed again. Lana acted as if she couldn't see, adding unhurriedly, "Unless you're hoping I'll divorce your CEO?"

Without giving Lily a chance to speak, Lana asked Ethan, "Your Miss Walsh hopes we'll get divorced. Would you divorce me for her?"

At the sight of Lana, who was smiling but had ice-cold eyes, Ethan's expression shifted. Without saying anything, he grabbed her and started to leave.

As they passed Lily, Lana said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Your home-wrecking skills seem pretty weak!"

She wanted to provoke Lily. She wasn't afraid of her making trouble—in fact, she hoped she would. The bigger the scene, the better.

Ethan dragged her out of the hotel, and just as he was about to force her into the car, Lana reacted strongly, pushing him away and quickly stepping back.

This car was the same one from last night—as dirty as the man himself!

Lana didn't notice what was behind her. She not only bumped into someone but also stepped on his foot.

The force was so strong that the person's white sneakers were not only stained but also deformed.

Lana felt extremely embarrassed. She took out a pen and notepad from her bag, wrote down her phone number, and grabbed the man's hand...

Actually, it was a young man.

By her estimate, he looked to be around twenty years old.

Wearing light gray athletic wear that complemented his handsome features, he looked as dazzling as a popular young celebrity.

Not wanting to continue entangling with Ethan, Lana pressed the note into the young man's hand. "For compensation, please call this number."

After saying this, she quickly walked away.

Watching her graceful figure disappear into the distance, Lucas Gray looked down at the pink note she'd placed in his palm, lost in his thoughts. “Luna, I’m glad to see you again!”

The first thing Lana did when she got home was take a shower.

Even though Ethan had only touched her arm, she still felt disgusted.

She thought Ethan wouldn't come back—after all, Lily was waiting for him to comfort her!

But just as she came out of the bathroom, he entered the bedroom.

It had been over two months since he'd touched Lana. Seeing her wrapped in just a towel with water droplets on her collarbone, Ethan's lower abdomen tightened suddenly.

Seeing the look in his eyes, Lana quickly turned around, but she was still a step too slow. He strode over and embraced her from behind.

Disgust immediately overwhelmed her entire body, especially when he said, "Today happens to be your ovulation period..."

Lana's nails almost dug into her palms as she fought the urge to confront him directly.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to make her voice sound as normal as possible. "I don't want children for now."

"Why?" Ethan suddenly released her. "You still don't trust me? I told you, there's nothing between Lily and me. Today I just happened to be meeting clients nearby, and when it was time to eat, they called to invite me, so I brought her along. What about you? How did you happen to be there? Were you following me?"

"Are you done?" Whether it was her expression or her tone, Lana was indifferent.

"It was just a meal. As a boss, do I need to report to you every time I take an employee out to eat? Lana, why don't you go look in the mirror and see what you look like now?" Ethan looked disappointed. "Hitting and cursing people without knowing the facts—like a disgusting shrew."

"If you don't like looking at me, then don't come back." That would save him from polluting the air and being an eyesore.

"...Anyway, Lily and I are completely innocent. If you don't want our marriage to continue deteriorating, stop giving her trouble."

"Completely innocent..."

Lana walked past him to get her phone from the bed, found the new headline, and showed it to him. "Ethan, don't tell me someone arranged reporters by your bed too?"

Ethan never expected that the scandal he'd barely managed to suppress would be spreading wildly online again.

Too busy to explain to Lana, he immediately pulled out his phone to call his assistant, walking out while shouting, "I don't pay you all that money to sit around doing nothing. Within an hour, I don't want to see any news about me online. And today you must find out who's behind all this!"

Watching Ethan's hurried steps, Lana laughed coldly. "Getting impatient already? The show has just begun!"

Putting down her phone, she returned to the bathroom and washed her entire body again.

After her shower, she leaned against the headboard, looking at her phone. An hour had passed and the disgraceful deeds of the cheating man and homewrecker still hadn't been suppressed.

Ethan thought too highly of himself. As long as she didn't back down, forget one hour—even with another hour, this matter wouldn't be suppressed.

Although she had resigned, she had never truly left that circle. She maintained the relationships she needed to maintain.

Not for anything else, but just to be Ethan's good wife behind the scenes. After all, business was like a battlefield—you never knew when the connections she maintained might help him greatly.

She had devoted herself wholeheartedly to him, but he was sleeping with another woman. So of course she would turn all of that into a boomerang aimed right at him.

The cold light in her eyes grew more intense. Lana exited the page, opened her contacts, found a number with no name, and dialed directly. "Increase the exposure."

She wanted them to become truly infamous!

Hanging up the phone, just as she was about to put it down and go to sleep, the screen that had just gone dark suddenly lit up again.
