“Hi, Jules,” Ryle said and I recoiled.

He raised his hands in mock offense but the smile never fell from his face.

“Long time no see. I would have you know… preferred we met on–“

“What do you want?” I spat, standing straight.

“Is that how you’ll thank me for saving your life?”

“No,” I stepped forward. “This is my way of saying screw you.”

I tried to leave but he caught my wrist, and I yanked it away.

Ryle turned, his blue eyes locking with mine for a split second. “I am not the enemy, Julia. I can however, help you fight off the enemy,”
