Chapter 2

作者: Tangle H
Lucas didn't even open the severance agreement.

I'd threatened to leave before, but I had always been the one to back down. Clearly, Lucas expected this time to be no different.

"Have you forgotten? This isn't an ordinary bond between two werewolves."

He picked up the severance agreement and tapped it against his palm.

"Frostmoon gives Blackstone access to its medical resources, and Blackstone protects Frostmoon's northern shipping routes. More than a dozen elders from both packs signed the alliance pact. You can't end it just because you want to."

"I'm ending our bond," I said. "The Councils can renegotiate the alliance themselves."

Lucas gave a short laugh.

"The Frostmoon Council?"

He approached me, bringing Vivian's scent with him.

My stomach lurched. I turned and pushed open the balcony door.

Cold air rushed into the room, clearing away some of the sickly sweet gardenia scent.

I'd barely caught my breath when Lucas reached past me and shut the door again.

"Can't stand her scent?"

The door clicked shut in front of me.

"Haven't you spent the past ten years getting very good at pretending not to see?"

My throat tightened again. I gripped the doorframe and fought the urge to throw up.

"Vivian is pregnant. Her scent will be around from now on, so you'd better get used to it."

He thought I was jealous.

He had no idea I was pregnant too.

Between the nausea from my own pregnancy and the overpowering moonlure scent, I could barely keep myself from vomiting.

But now, I had no intention of telling him about the pup.

"Sign it," I said.

The faint smile disappeared from Lucas's face.

"Who was it who signed the bonding confirmation knowing full well her parents objected?

"Frostmoon gave you one last chance to refuse before the bonding ceremony. You stood before the elders of both packs and said no one had forced you. You said you would accept whatever came from your decision."

He stepped closer, staring down at me.

"And now that the outcome isn't to your liking, you plan to just walk away?

"Evelyn, I didn't choose this bond either. As Blackstone's heir, I had no right to refuse the alliance. You did. You had every chance to walk away, and you chose not to.

"Now you're tired of the life you chose, and you expect me to clean up the mess for you?"

He spoke as though every word were undeniable fact. As though our ten years together had nothing to do with him. As though choosing the wrong man meant I deserved to suffer the consequences alone.

"So you won't sign the severance agreement?"

"No."

Lucas's claws extended from his fingertips.

He pinned the agreement against the wooden cabinet at the foot of the bed and drove his claws straight through the signature page. Both the paper and the folder tore, and four deep gouges scored the wood.

"Put it away."

The force of his Alpha command crashed down on me.

My shoulders buckled beneath the pressure, and a sharp cramp seized my abdomen.

As an Omega, my wolf instinctively wanted to submit. It cowered inside me, trembling beneath his dominance and urging me to bow before the Alpha standing in front of me.

I bit the tip of my tongue until I tasted blood and used the pain to keep myself standing.

Lucas frowned.

"If you leave Blackstone, where exactly do you think you can go?"

He picked up the comm device beside the bed, opened my profile, and turned the screen toward Vivian and me.

The Frostmoon crest was gray.

Membership: frozen.

Inheritance account: frozen.

Position at Frostmoon Medical Group: revoked.

Under Blackstone, there was only one line: Alpha's bonded mate.

"You gave up everything in Frostmoon to bond with me. You've been cut off from your pack for ten years."

With Vivian watching, Lucas slowly scrolled through every privilege Frostmoon had taken from me.

"Your pack link with Frostmoon has been closed for ten years. Without Blackstone, you can't even access your own accounts.

"Do you really think your father will suddenly forgive you and welcome you back?"

At that, Vivian released her grip on the quilt and relaxed against the pillows.

She no longer offered to leave or apologize to me.

Lucas switched off the terminal.

"Go to the east guest room. By tomorrow morning, we can forget this ever happened."

Just then, the clock on the wall passed midnight.

Deep within my mind, the Frostmoon pack link that had been silent for ten years suddenly came alive.

The familiar presence of Frostmoon's wolves flooded my mind, followed by two notifications.

"Frostmoon Pack membership restored."

"Inheritance rights pending confirmation upon return."

When I'd left Frostmoon ten years ago, my father had given me exactly ten years.

If I could prove that choosing Lucas had been worth it, he would acknowledge our bond and accept the alliance.

If I failed, I would return to Frostmoon, admit that I'd been wrong, resume the duties I'd abandoned, and accept whatever new bond the pack arranged for me.

During those ten years, my father would offer me no protection, money, or help of any kind.

But once the ten years were over, no matter how things ended, Frostmoon would open its doors to me again.

And tonight, those ten years had finally come to an end.

I had failed.

But my father had kept his word.

I suppressed my wolf's reaction, careful not to let Lucas sense it.

He still thought he held all the cards—that I had nowhere else to go.

Three months later, Frostmoon and Skyreach jointly announced the next phase of the medical network.Along with the project, we announced that Alex and I had agreed to become mates. The statement made the terms perfectly clear. After our bond, I would retain all my shares in Frostmoon, my vote on the Council, and my authority over Frostmoon Medical Group. Whether I joined Skyreach's mind-link, accepted the title of Luna, or ever had pups would be entirely my choice.Through the attorneys handling our severance, Lucas requested one final meeting with me.I agreed. But I didn't go by myself. When Alex and I arrived, Lucas was already waiting at a table in the back of the café.I hadn't seen him in three months. He'd lost a lot of weight, and the dark circles beneath his eyes made it clear he hadn't been sleeping well. My attorneys had told me that the Blackstone Council was reviewing whether he was still fit to remain Alpha. Without my scent to stabilize him, his wolf had also become incr

  • After Leaving My Alpha, I Married the Alpha King   Chapter 12

At our first meeting, Alex placed Skyreach's revised partnership agreement in front of me. There were no flowers and no mention of a bond. The clause Blackstone had always insisted on—the one giving the Alpha final authority over all decisions—was gone. Each pack would retain separate ownership of its shares in our joint projects, and a bond between us would not automatically transfer any management rights. Whether we ever had pups, or which pack they would belong to, had nothing to do with the alliance.I turned to the last page."You removed all of these clauses yourself?""Yes."Alex sat across the long table from me without releasing even the slightest trace of Alpha dominance.Yet my wolf could still sense the immense power inside him.No ordinary Alpha possessed that kind of strength. As the Alpha King who commanded seven packs, Alex could have forced everyone in the room to bow their heads with only a fraction of his power.Yet he kept every bit of it under control.I closed the

Evelyn's POV:Three months later, the court formally granted the severance of my bond with Lucas.Lucas had refused to sign the severance agreement. He still refused to accept that our bond was beyond saving. But my medical records, the security footage from the penthouse, Vivian's illegal drug use, and ten years of records showing that Blackstone had denied me the position of Luna were more than enough to prove that the terms of our alliance had been seriously violated.Once our legal bond was severed, a joint tribunal representing both packs began reviewing the alliance itself.I sat among Frostmoon's mind-healers as they prepared for the final procedure. When I'd joined Blackstone's mind-link after our bonding ceremony, Lucas had placed a pack anchor inside my wolf as its Alpha. It marked my membership in Blackstone, connected me to the pack's network, and made Lucas's Alpha commands even harder for my wolf to resist. It had never been a symbol of love, nor was it some unbreakable b

Lucas's POV:As soon as Vivian's examination was over, I stripped her of every position she held within Blackstone Group and the pack.My guards retrieved the security footage from the penthouse. On the screen, Vivian deliberately stepped between Evelyn and me, blocking my view. Then she drove her knee into Evelyn's belly and shoved her with both hands, sending her crashing into the stone console in the hallway. There was no question about it. She'd done it on purpose.I turned the footage, drug test results, and fetal examination report over to the pack tribunal.Vivian was still crying when the guards came to take her away."I just loved you too much and wanted to give you a pup. I just wanted you to finally see me."She tried to throw herself into my arms, but the guards stopped her."Lucas, you promised you'd protect me!"I didn't look at her."You deliberately wounded Evelyn, used illegal drugs to deceive the pack, and nearly passed off a severely malformed pup as Blackstone's hei

Lucas's POV:For the next three days, I tried again and again to reach Evelyn through our private mind-link.She never answered. Her presence in Blackstone's mind-link grew fainter and fainter. When the last trace of her finally faded away, I could no longer sense her anywhere in the network.Officially leaving Blackstone still required a ruling from the court, but Evelyn had already severed every connection she could on her own.I retraced the trail of blood through the penthouse, following every step she'd taken that night. The butler had already cleaned the carpet and walls, but my wolf could still pick up the scents left behind.Evelyn hadn't left calmly that night. She'd stumbled out of the guest room, using the wall to support herself. When she reached Vivian's door, she'd stopped there for a long time. Then she'd dragged herself toward the elevator, leaving blood behind with every step.I traced her last treatment record to White Birch Hospital. The doctor who had treated her he

Lucas's POV:I went straight to Blackstone Group headquarters before dawn.Frostmoon hadn't pulled out of just one partnership. In a single night, they had revoked the medical licenses held by two Blackstone hospitals, cut off six essential medications, withdrawn their voting proxies from our board, and shut us out of the medical network for the next five years.I demanded to speak with Frostmoon's Alpha through the diplomatic mind-link.After a long silence, Evelyn's father's voice finally came through."I want to renegotiate the terms," I said."There are no terms to negotiate.""The hospitals and the drug supply affect both packs. Evelyn is angry right now, but you can't just let her—""Lucas."He cut me off coldly."You still think Evelyn is doing all this to get back at you?"I didn't answer."Ten years ago, I never acknowledged you as her mate. Now that my daughter is finally home, Blackstone is no longer an ally of Frostmoon."The mind-link went dead.I stared at the empty confe
