Chapter 2

Author: Grogan
After the party, Leonard took my hand and pulled me into his car. His tone was sincere.

“Don’t be mad, Mia. Judy and I grew up together. Her mate just died, and she’s pregnant now, so I have to take care of her.”

I nodded. My calm demeanor struck Leonard as odd, and he frowned. “Aren’t you mad at me?”

Before I could reply, Judy opened the car door and got in without asking. “Leonard, I’m ready. Let’s go home.”

The moment she closed the door, she frowned and glanced at me. “Leonard, that smell is too strong… My pup’s making a fuss.

“Maybe I should just walk home… I can’t stand this smell.”

Leonard looked at me as though he had forgotten why I reeked of alcohol. He stammered awkwardly, “Mia, why don’t you…?”

I knew what he wanted me to do.

If it were before, I would have hastily protested that I only drank a little wine, and there was barely any smell at all.

Or perhaps I would have flown into a rage and told him there was no way I was walking home by myself. If Judy did not like that, she could find her own way home.

This time, however, I just got out of the car calmly and smiled at him. “Then I’ll go home on my own. Safe drive.”

Leonard blinked. He let go of the steering wheel and grabbed my hem instinctively. “Mia, why aren’t you…?”

“Why aren’t I mad?” I finished his sentence. “You used up a coupon, didn’t you? I won’t be mad.”

Leonard froze up. He opened his mouth to continue, but Judy suddenly sneezed from the backseat, distracting him.

“Ugh, it’s so cold, sitting here in my wet clothes!”

His train of thought completely derailed, Leonard patted my head exasperatedly. “Then I’ll send Judy home first. Take care, and I’ll be home a bit later.”

With that, he drove away with Judy in tow.

I watched the car leave, hugging my chest with my arms. My whole body felt cold.

Once I reached home, I took out the last forgiveness coupon and ripped it up without a moment’s hesitation. After that, I called Lily, the Luna, and told her I wanted to dissolve my Mate Bond with Leonard.

Lily was my best friend, and she had witnessed our entire love story, so she was shocked. “What Leonard did just now was terrible, but are you sure about this, Mia?

“Everyone in the pack knows he confessed to you 99 times. Your love story is practically a fairy tale around here! Why do you want to dissolve your Mate Bond?”

I gripped the phone tightly, my heart pained.

Yeah, what happened to us? What happened to our love?

It was probably because of Judy. Leonard took her side every time. Because of her, we kept fighting and using up the coupons, until there was not a single one left.

Once the coupons ran out, I knew that Leonard and I were done.

As I stayed silent, Lily could only sigh. “Alright, I’ll prepare the potion and documents for dissolving the Mate Bond. When do you want them?”

I looked at the shredded coupons in the wastepaper basket and said calmly, “Could you bring them tomorrow? I want to move elsewhere after dissolving the bond. I’ll leave once I’ve packed my things.”

The moment I said that, the door flew open.

“You’re leaving? Where are you going, Mia?”

Leonard came in with a paper bag and grabbed my hand anxiously.

My expression was calm and devoid of any extraneous emotions. “Leonard, our Mate Bond has been dissolved. You and I have nothing to do with each other anymore.”“I’m sorry!” Leonard’s eyes turned red, and he abruptly fell to his knees, just like he had when he begged me to become his Mate.“Mia, please give me another chance! I’ve seen Judy’s true colors. Mike and Lily chased her out of the pack. I don’t want anything else anymore, I only want you…”I interrupted him, my tone eerily even. “I gave you 99 chances. You used up the last coupon when you made me apologize on Judy’s behalf. Leonard, I don’t love you anymore.”“No! I don’t believe you!”I paused, looked at his face contorted in grief, and continued, “I’m doing fine here. There’s no need for forgiveness coupons, no one to make me apologize for a mistake I didn’t commit, and no one who’d abandon me for another woman when I miscarried. I even got to taste seafood.“The people here respect and care about me. Ethan even peels

It was the first full moon I spent with the Tidal Waves Pack. The members of the pack had started bonfires by the beach, and the young werewolves were dancing around the flames. The usually silent Ethan suddenly pulled out a guitar. He wore a simple flax tunic, his fingers dancing across the strings. Amid the music and the crashing waves, he seemed especially handsome and romantic.Lena handed me a glass of honey wine and sat next to me. “Surprising, isn’t it? Ethan isn’t as boring as his work makes him seem. He can be very romantic once he meets the right person.”She emphasized “the right person” and grinned at me.At the same time, Ethan reached the end of his song. When he looked up, our gazes met. A blush immediately colored his cheeks. The next second, however, he smiled at me gently.I bit my lip shyly and nodded at him. That night, I ignored the stuffiness in my chest from the full moon for the first time. I learned how to weave fishing nets from Lena, listened to the e

Her words seemed to spook Leonard, who shoved her so hard she fell a few steps back.“Are you crazy, Judy? What the hell are you saying?!”Instead of falling to the ground, however, Judy nimbly evaded his push. She was far too agile for a pregnant lady.Leonard frowned in surprise. “Your belly…”“She isn’t pregnant at all!” Lily yelled, kicking the door open. Mike was right behind her, dragging the pack’s healer behind him. “You, tell the truth!”The healer trembled and lowered his hand upon seeing the panicked Judy and the stunned Leonard. “I’m sorry, Alpha Mike. I lied to all of you.”He then raised his finger and pointed at Judy. “That woman bribed me! She said she’d do anything if she could keep Leonard. That’s why I lied for her. She isn’t pregnant at all!”“What did you say?!” Leonard’s pupils dilated, and his voice shook.Once her lie was exposed, Judy turned pale. She had been glancing around the room for a way to escape since she saw the healer, but Leonard grabbed h

“I just knew you wouldn’t abandon me!” Leonard’s eyes lit up, and he rushed forth to hug that figure. “Leonard, you’re finally back!” Judy turned around in surprise. She wanted to jump into Leonard’s arms, but he pushed her away with a frown.“You?! Why are you here? This bed is mine and Mia’s, get out!”Judy had never seen Leonard this angry before. She got out of bed, somewhat frightened.Leonard looked around the room and became even angrier. Judy had completely messed up the room Mia had personally designed. Mia’s favorite closet had been stuffed with Judy’s clothes, her paintings had been switched out to Judy’s photos, and her poetry collections had been replaced with Judy’s parenting books.Even the bedside photo, the last trace Leonard had of Judy, was gone.“What happened to that photo of Mia and me?!” he roared at the trembling Judy.Judy avoided his gaze and stammered, “I-I just thought I’d help her clean up the place since she’d been gone for so long. Did you find

At the same time, I was winding down the car window and looking at the sunrise. The moist ocean breeze blew against my face, the white stone seaside houses glittering under the sun. This was the Tidal Waves Pack by the eastern shore. It was completely different from where I had stayed before.“Welcome to our pack, Mia.” The female werewolf who greeted me was Lena, Lily’s cousin and the patrol captain of the Tidal Waves Pack. “We’re pretty laid back here, and no one will ask about your past. You’ll have a brand new start.”I nodded gratefully, instinctively rubbing the underside of my wrist with my fingertips. That was the spot where Leonard had marked me. After I dissolved our Mate Bond, all that remained of the bite mark was a faint scar. Even the deepest imprints would slowly fade with time. The same went for my grief and sorrow.I was confident that my new life by the beautiful sea would help me heal. With Lena’s help, I started a new job at the library. The head librarian

  • After Ninety-Nine Times   Chapter 4

From the second I closed the door, my relationship with Leonard was done. However, Leonard started spamming my phone the moment he received my message, ignoring Judy beside him.[Our Mate Bond is over? Don’t joke about something like that, honey! There’s no way I used up all 99 chances already.][Are you mad at me for not buying you the cake? I’ll get it for you right now!][Mia, why aren’t you replying? Are you really that angry?]He simply refused to believe that I would dissolve our bond, so he called me again and again. He only flew into a panic when the phone I had tossed away ran out of battery. This time, his calls would not even go through.“It can’t be! Everything was fine when I left the house. Mia wouldn’t really dissolve our bond!” he muttered, thinking back to my attitude recently. I had looked so calm whenever he brought up Judy or the coupons…So calm that it felt as though I had given up on him completely. The thought startled Leonard. He grabbed his coat from
