Chapter 3

“ who? I have no idea what you are talking about” said Taryn her voice shook as she tried to assert her dominance, Carter raised a brow as if he was fascinated by her struggle. He pinched her chin with his claws, digging the tips of his claws in her flesh, he watched as the latter gasped trying to pry his fingers off from her chin but Carter didn't let her go, instead, he tightened his hold and crouched down so that he could hold Taryn's gaze “  Taryn, you should know me well I think, your brother and I had enough dealings together with each other, I think you know what I do with people who try to lie to me”

Taryn shuddered she knew of Carter though she had never seen him before she had heard of him from her brother, he was the Alpha of Blood Moon pack and he was notorious for being cruel and psychopathic, though his appearance didn't suit his cruelty. He was a gorgeous man, with eyes as warm as honey and a smile as charming as if it was full of sunshine.  But yet this smile has seen the most brutal wars, Carter was infamous for ripping his enemies throat out with a smile on his face.

He was scheming and vengeful, and Taryn couldn't help but curse her brother for being so stupid as to get on Carter’s wrong side.

“ I - “

“ Carter what are you doing?” asked Shayne as he looked at his Alpha, his eyes full of incredulity like he couldn't believe that his Alpha was actually doing what he was doing” don't you hate seers the most, isn't it because of a seer that you-”

However, Shayne shut up when he heard Carter glance at him. Though Carter’s gaze was light and even indifferent, Shayne knew his Alpha well enough and understood that Carter was warning him. So he didn't dare to speak anymore, only when his beta shut his mouth did Carter turned his attention back on Taryn.

“ Sorry about that sweetheart,” said Carter flashing Taryn one of his gentleman smile, if not for his claws that were deeply embedded in her chin, Taryn would have almost swooned but the constant pain in her chin reminded her that his man in front of her was exactly what her brother called him ‘ a lunatic’ “   Now where were we? Yes, you were going to tell me where exactly is that seer?”

“ what will you do with her?” asked Taryn

“ that doesn't concern you” stated Carter, as he pulled Taryn back when she tried to escape his grip “ but know this, I hate seers the most, every seer that I cross path with needs to live a life worse then death, so you better talk or else I will show you what can be worse than death, you don't want that now do you?”

“ in the basement, she is in the basement,” said Taryn gasping with pain when Carter’s hold on her chin tightened extremely “it's on the left, go around the corridor and turn the door to your right, the basement is under a trap door hidden under the bookcase”

With Carter’s dominant vibes choking her and the pain she was suffering, Taryn couldn't hold on anymore and spilled everything.

Only then did Carter let go of her, taking the handkerchief from Jake who shuffled next to him with a handkerchief in his hand. Carter darted a cold look at Taryn before he walked away but before leaving the room he coldly left behind an order that drove Taryn to madness “ Kill her, remember to keep her alive for three days at the most”.

He could sense the stupefied glares of his packmates but he didn't care instead he walked to the room where the trap door was hidden.

-

Thalia knew she was dying, her lungs were hardly working as she tried to breathe. Smoke was slowly filling the room, and she could no longer breathe properly, she tried to hold her breath but that only made things worse.

‘ Moon Goddess, Please don't let me die’ though Thalia was cursed by the Goddess and her entire life was ruined. She still firmly believed in the Moon Goddess, she believe that whatever she was going through were trials set by Moon Goddess to test her who was better than others. The more she suffered, maybe the happier she will be.

It was a stupid belief but to Thalia who had nothing, this hope of a happy future that made her go on.

“ Please help me-” her words were half-finished when the door to the basement door was kicked open. Startled Thalia opened her eyes and looked at her saviour. To her, the man who came to save her was like a descending angel but something was weird, all of a sudden her skin started to itch and spread all over the script that was engraved in her skin. Her breathes deepened and all of a sudden a haze fell over her drawing her closer to the man who was walking closer to her.

However, when her gaze met with his, every pore of her skin turned cold and screamed at her to stay away. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up like needles when her Arctic blue eyes met the coldest brown.

His build was tall really tall with broad shoulders, curly brown hair ran long and slick but on the side, his hair was buzzed. Dressed in complete black, with a predatory smile hung on his lips made him look more dangerous yet shrouded with mystery.

Something in her chest moved, like thud thump thump, but why she had no idea. She felt a child-like curiosity, that wanted to be set free. Thalia wanted to break the eye contact but she couldn't, he stared at her with a little psychotic smile, and she noticed a silent, maniacal interest as if she was an old friend he was meeting after a very long time.

Thalia opened her mouth “ please help me-”

However, her words end there because the man lifted her up by her hair, like a rag doll. And Thalia screamed, her injuries were not yet healed and the handcuffs that were tied to her wrists tightened when he moved so abruptly.

“ well well, darling.” muttered the man “ if you are on the gates of hell and I'm your best shot, then you are well and truly fucked, aren't you ?”

Thalia wanted to say something, she wanted to tell him how she could be helpful to his pack but then a strong hand wrapped around her throat and pushed her brutally against the wall, Thalia’s back hit the wall and pain shot through her spine as her stomach plummeted to the pits of her stomach.

She thought that she knew what pain was but nothing could have prepared her for this sudden, aggressive and unexplainable attack from a complete stranger.  This man - was he here to kill her?

The warm brown eyes that she thought were beautiful a second ago were now glaring into hers with murderous intent. This murderous expression of his made Thalia more scared than his grip on her throat.

The man raised his hand as he clasped her chin, for a second Thalia thought that he was going to snap her head off and kill her “ please don't hurt me -”

However, the man ignored her as he leaned closer to her until his lips were inches away from hers as he growled “ don't worry I won't hurt you, I will ruin you,  body and soul”

And those words sealed her entire fate.
