88. Ongoing Misery

Laughs were supposed to be beautiful, heartwarming, and easily contagious.

However, the evil laugh from this bastard was irritating, heartbreaking, and repulsive.

He laughed yet I whimpered.

The last few minutes have been nothing short of agonizing. He was so angry when Jack answered the call. He slapped, punched, and broke me. My body was aching and so was my heart.

He was about to inject a poisonous fluid into my body when he changed his mind and thought he should try calling Ayden again. One part of me didn't want Ayden to answer the call but there was a big part of me that prayed he would because I didn't know what the poison would do to me.

I didn't have a wolf which meant there was no one taking the heat for me. Every blow was affecting me directly and the poison would do the same… I would die faster than people with wolves.

“Who are you and what do you want?”

My heart slammed against my aching ribs when Ayden answered the call. His voice filled me with relief
