Chapter 5

MARK'S P.O.V.

The thoughts of Eva being my mate haunted me like a nightmare. What was Lowel's problem? I mean if she was my mate I would have known about this by now, but I didn't and Eva just made it all up for him, but how could she stoop so low?

“Alpha?” I snapped out of my thoughts as the maid stood there with a book and a pen.

“Handle the menu Yvonne, nothing must go wrong or else.”

“I understand Alpha.” She bowed before she left

It's been three days since he told me, and surprisedly I haven't seen Eva anywhere, but I couldn't care less. She will be in her room all day and takes care of my room when I'm not home, she has been behaving sneaky.

I signed the papers for the event and took a deep breath. Perhaps it's time I meet this man, moreover I need to get to the bottom of this or Lowel won't make me see the end of this.

The entire pack was busy getting ready for the festival held at the end of each month in the pack, and it felt easier getting away from everyone. Opening the door, I came face to face with Tasha, which made me frown.

“Baby!” She immediately hugged me and I placed a kiss on her forehead.

“What are you doing here? You aren't meant to be here until evening.”

“Well I was jobless, and I wanted to help with some preparations."

“You can do what you want. I have something urgent to attend to.” Removing her hands from mine, I walked away, but I could still feel her looking at me, which I barely care about.

I got into the car and drove off to the far end of the pack. The woods smelled weird, and it felt like trouble looming in every corner of the pack. I hated this feeling, and it was no one apart from him who was causing this.

“Never thought I would see you looking so worried.” He walked out of the house as I stepped out of the car, which made me roll my eyes.

“I could have killed you when I had the chance.”

“But you won't because I'm the Pack's seer, and you need me.” I hate the fact that he was right, and he could sense that I was worried from afar, he knew I was coming to meet him.

This bastard!

“What brings you here, Alpha Mark?”

“There's a new maiden in the pack. I want to know who she is. She's my mistress.”

“Ah! The usual change in women.”

“Pierce, you have just one year to live, and I could be very impatient. You , of all people, should know that." He walked into his house with a shrug and I tried my best to not get angry.

As angry as I was, if Pierce's powers got out of control, the entire pack would be at risk. He had done it once and that was the reason he was ousted to the end of the pack.

“Eva?” His voice caught my attention and looked away from the weird looking cup.

“Yes, that's her.”

“She's your mate and the reason you don't know that it's because of Tasha, she knows about Eva being your mate, and you are tamed by her all thanks to a witch.”

Rage boiled within me and I walked out of the house and straight towards the car. How dare she? I've given her everything she ever wanted since we were kids, but this is my mate and she dares to do this.

I got to the back and I could see her moving around, which made me so angry, but I couldn't do anything just yet. I walked upstairs and towards Eva's room, opening the door, I noticed she was curled up in her blanket sleeping peacefully.

“Eva.” I called out and her eyes flew open.

Honestly, I would rather not wake her, and it was an hour to the festival, she needed to be there. She looked at me completely confused, and her eyes widened when she realized it was me.

“Alpha Mark I….”

“Come to the festival tonight. I want you to be there.”

“Yes, Alpha Mark.”

“The festival starts in an hour.” I left the room and went towards mine.

Tasha and I had been friends since childhood, and honestly, I was dating her for her sake, liking a woman isn't sometimes I deal with I don't even want to get married, but Tasha had crossed the line in every way.

I got to the room and began to get ready, but a scent lingered in the room which was hard to resist, but I didn't know what it was. Tasha hadn't been here and Eva was the last person in here, but this wasn't her scent, something wasn't right.

Shrugging it off, I walked out of the room completely dressed. I was already late and everything had already started. I took the back entrance as it was usually held in the Pack's square, which was large enough to contain everyone.

“Baby!” I rolled my eyes as I heard her voice, but I didn't stop walking.

“What do you want?” I said gently, but anyone could sense that I was angry.

“What's with the attitude all of a sudden?” She pulled my hand causing me to stop, and I twisted hers making her scream, but I couldn't care less about the situation.

“I'm not in the mood for you to be jolly. get on your seat and stay there.” I let go of her as I went into the crowd in search of Eva. After a while, I got on the high ground and took my seat which was next to Tasha's and Eva's seat.

“Who owns that chair?” Tasha asked as she looked at Eva's.

“My mistress.” It was clear that she was upset about it, but I didn't care about that “... A special announcement!” I got the crowd's attention, and they all looked at me. “Eva.” I called out but no response “... Guards?”

“Alpha, She isn't here.”

“That's strange, she's meant…"

“She's gone.” Lowel said with horror written all over his face as he got on the high ground.

“What do you mean she's gone?”

“I've checked everywhere. She's gone, and she left this note.” I immediately collected the note from him.

I'm sorry, but I can't stay here anymore. The deal isn't over, but I promise to never cross your path again, please forgive me.

Without thinking twice, I pulled the gun out of my pocket and pulled the trigger.
