AMBER’S POV

I woke up to a very hot day. Gertrude had been crying since he woke up today because of the suffocating heat. The sun was as bright as ever today.

“Please don’t cry, little Grandal,” I said while pacing up and down the room, with him in my arms. Grandal was persistent in keeping shut.

‘Ding dong,’ it was the doorbell.

“Who is it?!” I yelled at the top of my voice. I had to exclaim for my voice to overpower Grandal’s bitter screaming.

“Have you forgotten about your friend, Amber?!” Beth responded from behind the door.

“You may come in, Beth,” I said while pacing around the room.

Beth entered the room and immediately rushed to me.

“What’s going on here, Amber? Why’s little Grandal crying so much?” Beth began to tickle little Grandal in order to cheer him up. Instead of Beth’s actions to cheer Grandal up, rather, it made him cry more. He cried and screamed like he had never before.
