Getting There

This time when I approach Jae with a plate of chicken, rice and some vegetables, Jae doesn't push it out of my hands, like he did the other one. He just sits up on the bed and starts eating while I re-arrange the pillows under his leg and put a new bag of ice on his foot. It really looks worse than before, thanks to me.

I know he deserves it, but I still feel guilty.

"Do you want to watch TV?" I ask, pointing at the flat screen in front of my bed. Jae thinks about it as he chews, then nods.

"I'm fine, you can leave now. I’ll text you if I need something," he says once he has the remote in his hand. I nod, but I don’t leave yet.

I walk to my closet to pack a few days worth of clothes before leaving, with one last look at Jae. He looks completely ridiculous lying on my bed around all the girly stuff his mom bought me.

I walk through the door he destroyed to go upstairs and head to his room.

His bed is still made, everything is in its place and it doesn't smell like Jae because he h
