Chapter 20

Sheila’s POV

It’s been three months since Dad came home with the news about my wedding. I agreed three months from that day and I’ve lived my life as a wife-to-be since. I waited, counting each day before this day would arrive.

“You are still in bed,” Mother said as she pulled the door open, but to her dismay. I sat on the edge of my bed, staring out of the window at the horizon.

A marriage between two top packs was a subject of intensity, as attacks could also happen on the same day. The saying of killing two birds with one stone could very well apply in these circumstances.

“I’m not asleep, Mum,” I said as I turned to face her fully. She walked in with a pink dress that gave an orange feel over the rising sun.

“I see that now,” she said as she sat next to me, feeling the bed shift to her weight. “It feels like the world has finally turned on its head now that D-day has arrived, doesn’t it?”
