Chapter 18 : CHLOE’S POV

As the car sped through the winding streets, the headlights of our pursuers grew closer, casting long shadows that danced along the pavement. Layla's knuckles turned white as she clutched the door handle, her eyes wide with fear.

"We need to lose them," Detective Rodriguez shouted over the roar of the engine. "Hang on tight, everyone!"

With a sharp turn of the wheel, he veered off the main road and onto a narrow alleyway, the car bouncing over potholes and debris as we hurtled through the darkness.

But our pursuers were relentless, their headlights casting an ominous glow that seemed to follow us wherever we went. Layla's breath caught in her throat as she glanced back, her heart pounding in her chest.

"They're gaining on us!" she cried, her voice tinged with panic.

"We need to find a way to shake them," George agreed, his eyes darting nervously between the rearview mirror and the road ahead.
